Now that my treatment is done I feel like I need to refer family and friends, and make new friends with varicose veins just to have an excuse to visit! They are the absolute best! I was very careful to be specific because I had new insurance (not Kaiser anymore) and was told I would only be charged a $60 specialist co-pay for the visit and the ultrasound. I asked lots of clarifying questions to make sure that co-pay included the ultrasound because it was less than I thought it would be and I didn't want any surprises. I got an EOB showing they billed my insurance $750 for the visit and I needed to pay $350 of that. I inquired several times explaining this was not what I was told when I made the appointment and after the 4th time asking with no response, I was told no adjustment and I am responsible to know how much my insurance will cover. Really not ok because it was Denver Vein Center that misinformed me. Looking back I think the appointment person didn't book the ultrasound I asked for, because when I got there I had to ask for the ultrasound and I wondered why they didn't have it ready to go. Again, usually a good office but they took zero accountability for their mistake and I didn't appreciate the surly message about me being responsible for knowing my insurance coverage, when their staff was obviously not listening to my VERY clear and repetitive questions about a doc visit AND ultrasound, not just a doc visit.

The day of the procedure, everyone in the office was very friendly, helpful, and courteous to us in a professional manner. Very young physicians assistant or nurse practitioner was resistant to giving me 2 Valium for my back. I'm almost 60 not addicted to benzos and know what works! My back was out and Valium helps relax my muscles. He did wnd up giving the prescription to me but after I had to listen to a long explanation as to why other medications (that I've tried before) would work better. A very long and tiring day.
