I changed PCPs, and neither the new or old one had a clue. I went to a spine specialist (non surgeon), interventional radiolgist, chiropractor, and PT. PT helped a bit. The spine Dr. suggested surgery, but had no idea who to refer me to. It was awful that no one could help. I got Dr. Kimball's name from a post-op nurse who has seen his results, and I called for an appointment in early November. I was warned that he had no openings for consult until January and no openings for surgery until March, but advised to come see his PA, Sean, to see if I even needed surgery. I went for the appointment with Sean, and Dr. Kimball (after seeing my MRI) walked into the exam room, told me that I couldn't wait for his next opening, so he was going to make an opening in December. I had surgery the first week of December, and today I am 100% pain free. BEST NEUROSURGEON EVER!!!! Dr. K and Sean really are the absolute best!!! I don't even want to think about what my life would be without Dr. Kimball!!

What truly won me over was an experience that reminded me of how doctor's offices used to be--when people genuinely cared about the patient, not just the appointment schedule. While I was receiving an infusion, I desperately needed a cortisone injection. Even though Dr. DeFrancisco wasn't at that location that day, he responded to my message almost immediately, coordinated with the staff between offices, and arranged for Dr. Tyler to see me right then and there without a scheduled appointment. That level of teamwork, communication, and patient care is rare, and it meant so much to me. Dr. Tyler was absolutely hilarious and instantly put me at ease, and Dr. DeFrancisco has been everything I hoped for in a rheumatologist--knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely invested in his patients. I've needed to call my insurance on several occasions to do their job for them, and have been told repeatedly by my insurance that "the doctors office should really be doing this work". The elderly librarian-looking woman is also very unfriendly. Which I wouldn't mind, if she did her job properly. She also became extra rude when I asked for the information needed to check coverage on my own. She knows she should be doing this, and gets cranky when a patient knows enough to realize the work hasn't been done and wants to do it on their own. Worst of all worlds.

I was very careful to be specific because I had new insurance (not Kaiser anymore) and was told I would only be charged a $60 specialist co-pay for the visit and the ultrasound. I asked lots of clarifying questions to make sure that co-pay included the ultrasound because it was less than I thought it would be and I didn't want any surprises. I got an EOB showing they billed my insurance $750 for the visit and I needed to pay $350 of that. I inquired several times explaining this was not what I was told when I made the appointment and after the 4th time asking with no response, I was told no adjustment and I am responsible to know how much my insurance will cover. Really not ok because it was Denver Vein Center that misinformed me. Looking back I think the appointment person didn't book the ultrasound I asked for, because when I got there I had to ask for the ultrasound and I wondered why they didn't have it ready to go. Again, usually a good office but they took zero accountability for their mistake and I didn't appreciate the surly message about me being responsible for knowing my insurance coverage, when their staff was obviously not listening to my VERY clear and repetitive questions about a doc visit AND ultrasound, not just a doc visit.

She is professional, knowledgeable and friendly and I am so excited, by the time I got home I could already see a huge difference! I was amazed at how much younger my eyes look with our old ugly veins around them. They said I cold bruise and swell, but I'm really not that swollen and I don't see any bruises all I see is no veins! I'm going back for my legs.
