Been a member for a couple years. I remember reading a review that noted how no member would deign to Yelp. And I thought that wasn't fair. Know what's really nice? Not having to wonder what to do on Mother's Day. Or Easter. Or New Year's Eve. The Minneapolis Club just takes care of it. Brunch, more brunch (with a petting zoo), and Murph and the Magic Tones, respectively. (All that said, weekend restuarant service is typically on only special occasions.) Major use of this club is lunch during the week. People have tons of business lunches. I never have, and it's mausoleum-esque on Friday night, which I don't mind. The food is excellent. The gym has one squat rack and no deadlifting platform, but there are real weights, lots of treadmills, and it's the sort of place where your old lady can get her Pilates with wine. The pool is too warm but very clean. It's got one of the only doubles squash courts in the state. No racquetball. The locker room will make you think you're a Master of the Universe, even though you're in the Upper Midwest and decidedly upper middle class. They have an attached hotel. I use it to house my Fox-News-watching parents. When they awaken at the crack of noon, the concierge tells them how nice I am. The concierge also gets us tickets to stuff. (Fourth row at Ali Wong, sky box for the Twins, etc. ;) Lots of banquet rooms upstairs. Great for hosting lunches to grow your business. Or depositions. Lots and lots of high-end reciprocal clubs. And everyone is nice. Not Minnesota nice. Legit nice. Bottom line: This is an appropriate use of money. It's not cheap, but it's absolutely not ridiculous. read more

I visited the club with a member for lunch. This is a beautiful club (inside and out) with better than expected food (I had the salmon salad, which as perfectly prepared) - the services was also stellar. If I lived in the area, I'd consider navigating membership. Overall, those in my group who were not members all left impressed. read more

People writing Yelp reviews would never be a member of this club nor would anyone reading a review about the Minneapolis Club would ever be received as a member...however, every now and then, one of the un-washed gets in by invitation of someone who was invited by someone who knows a memeber. It's really cool to see how the top 5% live...just like the movies. I was invited to a black tie event held in the main dinning room. I imagine it is what dining at Windsor by invitation of the Queen would be like. The food was phenomal, the service magical and after dinner we explored the club. I visited the Minneapolis Club as a wedding guest. Somehow my cousin managed to wrangle holding his wedding and reception here--I've heard that can be a difficult thing to do (not to mention expensive). As wedding venues go, this one is unique and rather gorgeous I must say. There are plenty of spaces to sneak off to and decompress if the family becomes too much; richly appointed little smoking rooms (now non-smoking rooms, I'm sure), leather libraries, rooms meant for ceremonies, rooms meant for dancing, dressing rooms, sitting rooms, powder rooms, etc. Naturally we couldn't crawl *all* over the place (i.e. private offices) but we were allowed quite free reign on multiple levels. The many-rooms meant that the ceremony and the reception were both held here, and instead of having one dominating buffet there was the option to have food available in many rooms. It also allowed for a babysitting room. (This is not a feature of the club, per se, but --hint-hint-- it's a good idea if you're looking to hold your wedding here.) I would remark on the food (desserts only: quite good), but I cannot be certain that it was catered by the Minneapolis Club or not. This really is one of the most beautiful places to get married; all dark wood and detail. Wish I had known about it before I got married. Ah well. Dress code: No blue jeans, no shorts, dresses highly encouraged. Enter the club and you are transported into old world prestige, you can practically SMELL the money seeping from the walls and persian rugs rolled out from under your feet. Would make for a fantastic haunted house with its gothic architecture and dark interiors, but I was there for a luncheon, sipping cocktails and white wine and looking dainty in my cashmere and trying to act lady-like. read more

As an Executive Assistant, I have had the pleasure of being invited to the Minneapolis Club for several events as of late. I was wowed the first time I stepped through the ivy-covered gates, and I'm still wowed after every time I leave. The building is like a fancy country club plopped smack down in the middle of Downtown, only without the golf course in back. Staff is friendly and attentive, service is impeccable (seriously, white gloves when they hand over your soup and salad), and the food is FABULOUS. I have been treated to several quite lovely meals as of late, always complete with fresh fruit platters and plentiful beverages. It's a gorgeous establishment. Dark wood and brass everywhere. There are plenty of rooms for various occasions - anything from a quiet, intimate meeting, to large, formal dining rooms for special events. I haven't had the guts to meander around the Club, but I'd love the chance - I'm a fan of big old buildings, and this one fits the bill. Long story short, this place is great. If anyone is ever short a date for an event here, drop me a line. I live Downtown, and I clean up reeeeeal nice. ;) read more

We visited the Minneapolis club to utilize our reciprocity from the Detroit Athletic Club. We had initially planned on coming for dinner but were in the mood for steak and the menu was unfortunately limited for the time of year. The club is beautiful and very historic, and the staff was very welcoming to us as guest visitors from another club. They change they menu frequently so I will have to come and give it another chance when there are more options to choose from. We had appetizers and drinks which were excellent and the service was very good, though we were one of only two parties present which was surprising for a Friday. I was looking forward to a work event at the Minneapolis Club as I don't know if my non-work self is important enough to have business here. The building itself is a beautiful site in the heart of downtown with ivy-covered walls and an air of the past. We were in a larger room on the second floor that was set for a meal and presentation. The windows, the window treatments, the lovely floors, and fireplaces were exactly what I was expecting. Even the elevator was distinguished. As mentioned previously, I don't see myself getting any invitations to hang out at the Minneapolis Club soon but I was happy to experience a building that I have long admired. read more

I went here for a lecture so I didn't get the fancy schmancy food. I got food, but it was about as unspectacular as it gets. So I assume it gets better downstairs. The place does reek of money and everyone around there looks terrific in their perfect suits, but I must say I was a little dissapointed. read more

A dark and somber-looking gothic building that oozes money and connections from its cracked plaster walls and leaded windows. I loved it. No cell phone use except in the phone rooms. Women's rooms with real towels and free feminine supplies (a sign of class in my book). As you head up the staircase BW and sepia-toned headshots of famous Minnesotans stare down at you--Kelloggs, Crosbys, Daytons. I was there for a family event with a friend and her family, dinner before Holidazzle, a heated tent on the parade route, and then cookies and decoration making afterwards. What totally rocked: homemade marshmallows in the shape of snowmen for the whipped cocoa. Damn. Buffet that was NOT kid friendly, especially for a family event, was fantastic. Goose, duck, rare roast beef, kale sauteed with pancetta and sweet potatoes, swordfish with crab butter, sauteed pasta. The only thing that nodded to finicky kids was bakes potatoes, plain pasta and cheese. This was a buffet that said "Look kids, this is an adult place and we eat adult food here. Try it or not but don't ask for chicken nuggets or french fries or your class will show." Ahhh..... adult things! read more

I am a member of a reciprocal club in Los Angeles and visited the Minneapolis Club this month. What a treat. Truly fantastic club and it has made me want to move to MN even more then before. The food is absolutely excellent, the staff is extremely helpful and eager to please (and speaks English unlike in L.A.), and the club has found a way to maintain a classic yet "up to date" style. This is important for these clubs to survive and I am very confident the Minneapolis Club will be impressing their private guests for years to come. I look forward to returning soon and becoming a member of this particular club as well. read more

We had our wedding at the Minneapolis Club back in 2015. I had the great pleasure of working with Ashley and she couldn't have been more communicative, patient, proactive, or thoughtful. The building itself is just gorgeous. The multiple levels and rooms offer so many possibilities, the food was nothing short of spectacular (from cocktail hour to dinner), and the staff was top notch. Obviously many factors contributed to my wedding day, but The Minneapolis Club, as a whole, had quite a bit to do with what I consider to be one of the best days of my life. read more

As a long time member who just resigned, unfortunately I can no longer recommend the Mpls Club. The events can be good but the membership dues are far too expensive for what you get. The last couple years in particular have declined sharply and the club is getting further behind the times and maintains the stuffy atmosphere that people don't want. There are so many better options. The board used to be the movers and shakers in town, and now they are just a self-important group. Too bad because the club used to be so well run. read more

My fiancée and I shared our wedding reception at the Minneapolis Club, and were blown away by the service, hospitality, and quality of the venue, staff, and accommodations. From the moment we contacted the club to the day of (and after), we felt as if we were the Club's only priority (I'm sure everyone feels that way...and they're not). They time and again went out of their way to check, double-check, and triple-check EXACTLY what we had in mind. To quickly recap the positives, let me highlight 3 thing. First, the venue is absolutely gorgeous. It is well-maintained, has excellent amenities, and provides a spread of options to make your day picture-perfect. The outdoor option (with vines in the courtyard) in downtown Minneapolis makes things like a cocktail hour especially picturesque. The variety of options available to fit your wedding's image are plentiful; whether you want a large, extravagant wedding or a smaller, personal wedding, the options exist in uniquely applicable ways. Second, the food is incredible. The lead chef, Henrik, and his team provided superb, assorted options to accommodate the many needs of a wedding reception. The Minneapolis Club time and again provided options to sample, resample, and decide the exact meal options available to the wedding. They never really pushed, compromised, or took short cuts with the foods, and that, to my mind, is one of the single greatest takeaways guests have at weddings. Third, the proximity to nearby options provide convenience in ways other weddings seem to lack. Hotels within walking distance, a secure and free parking ramp (provided by the Club), and downtown benefits (restaurants, bars, etc.) are HUGE benefits for those from out-of-town are wishing to experience downtown stress-free. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Minneapolis Club for any wedding reception. read more

I initially stayed at the Minneapolis Club this past summer. During my summer visit, I stayed eight days. It was a wonderful experience. I knew I would be in town in December. The staff has gone the extra mile by extending the red carpet. The food is delicious and the Fitness Center is convenient. On this trip, I arrived on Saturday, December 11 and I will check out on December 17. The Minneapolis Club embodies the true meaning of Minnesota Nice!!
