Beautiful place to hold a car convention. It was very clean, love the architecture of the building and layout. There were restrooms throughout and concession options spread out throughout the building and meeting areas. I did not expect to see some childhood favorites like Batman cars, Scooby doo van and knight rider car, among many others. What was really impressive was the obstacle course that was set up to allow you to test drive the line of jeeps. That looked like a blast! Overall, I great experience! read more

I've been to the MCC many times over the years for a variety of events such as graduations, expos, volunteer opportunities, concerts and more. More recently I went to volunteer at an MLK day event w/ Hands on Twin Cites. We were in a large conference room packing care packages. There's often many events going on but otherwise it can be pretty quiet as it's generally not much else to do. It's connected to the skyway system which is nice you can park at the nearby ramps and take the skyway over. There's also metered parking but can be iffy depending on what events are going on. read more

Was here today to check out the Totally Rad Vintage Fest. From what I saw of the convention center, it's a solid space. There was a second convention taking place on another floor too. All the staff were being proactive speaking to people to help direct them throughout the building and through the safety checkpoints. All of the employees that interacted with me were polite and friendly. The space itself is clean and well-lit, and there are numerous restrooms available to use (didn't see any gender-neutral options however), along with water fountains and water bottle refill stations. I can't speak to parking prices/options because I got dropped off, but from how busy things got, you might want to do the same if you can. read more

This is the first time I have been to this convention center. It makes sense as this was the first time I was in MInneapolis. We stayed at the Marquette hotel and this was just an easy 10 minute walk. This is an amazing venue that was the perfect host for our annual Kiwanis International Convention. This is a nice big place with lots of bathrooms, plenty of parking (not that I needed that) nearby ramps that are connected via enclosed walkways so you don't have to worry about walking outside to get in. This is perfect if your meeting in the winter or have to get here on a rainy day. They have some small cafe's for food and drinks, and also there are food serving areas for when events are going on. It was nice to see how quickly they moved a very long coffee line in the morning. Our meeting rooms were very good, and there was complete access for those with disabilities. All the rooms were acoustically set up well and there was a clean sound with microphones. Even the larger assembly rooms where displays and vendors were set up had great acoustics and even with all the people. We also used the auditorium for multiple presentations. The overall technology of this center was excellent. Another extremely large room was used for a gala dinner, which was very good. Dinner included a salad, Braised short ribs and chocolate cake dessert. The server team did a fantastic job of getting hundreds of meals out quickly and efficiently. After dinner was a concert. again, the acoustics were perfect for our musical guests, The Oak Ridge Boys. This is a beautiful venue and I look forward to a return trip here. I have been here a few times (Galaxy Con and my graduation most recently), and this venue is amazing! It's a very large complex and has the ability to host all types of events. It's always clean and bright, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I'm always more willing to attend and event if it's being held here. Recently attended the Craft Brewers Conference at the Minneapolis Convention Center from 5/2/22 to 5/5/22 as an exhibitor for my work with two others. First off, I like how the convention center connects to the Hilton (where we were staying) via skyway. The weather was in the high 40's/low 50's during my stay, so this was a GREAT way to avoid walking there outside in freezing weather, especially in the morning. They have two exhibitor halls - a smaller one on the lower level and a much bigger one on level one. Everyone had to go to the smaller exhibitor hall to pick up their complimentary lunches. Lunches consisted of turkey sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, among others. No photography allowed in both halls, unfortunately. Multiple auditoriums were used for various seminars and educational classes. I did not have time to attend these seminars because I had to help with our booth (which was hopping most of the time), but I did hear some stories about them. The main auditorium was open during the CBC welcome reception and it was very spacious. They have a Dunns Brothers Coffee stand inside. I visited the stand every morning and their coffee was very good, especially their vanilla iced nirvana. Restrooms were clean but they could use some more lighting. read more

Visited here for the ASEE last month and was pleasantly surprised. It's probably the cleanest convention center I've been to, and the location relative to downtown is accessible. Many convention centers are significantly far away from the center of town, but this is not the case here. It flanks the near south side, and nearly all of the major downtown hotels are within two blocks. My favorite part of the location is the multiple bus stops right outside the convention center doors. I took the 11 and the orange line multiple times - right from the convention center. read more

I attended a health convention this summer, so I got to the convention for the first time. Even though I was staying on the St. Paul side of town, I was amazed at the size of the convention center at the other end of the Twin City. It was really clean. Unlike some stadium I've been in to watch games, it was clean throughout, as I say cleaning staff making sure things were working okay. The tech staff were working hard in the background in between presentations- you really saw them except during breaks. They really made the transition between the different events seamless. Definitely one of the best convention sites I've ever been to. If you have an event here with your company/organization, it is definitely a place to go to if you're a convention-goer. read more

This place is huge!!! I don't know how they do it but they really make you feel like a highly valued individual even in a big crowd. The food services do a great job with taste, price and delivery. The spaces are huge but also highly customizalble for what you need. They have price packages to fit everyone and parking is very easy for big groups. I know that the layout is dictated by the event, and I'm always impressed by how they make events look polished and well put together. Even the more casual events are pretty streamlined and easy to navigate. The restroom facilities are always clean with full supplies, which is a must-have for me. I don't like public restrooms. I was at the Convention Center in November for the annual NCTE (National Council for Teachers of English) Conference. It's a HUGE building with a ground level, upper, and TWO lower floors, and a gaggle of various-sized rooms and auditoriums. The staff seemed to have all of the setup/technology prepared with the exception of one presentation I saw. It's hooked up to the Skyway (which I found out [on the last day, of course] actually goes TO the Marquette Hotel), but central enough downtown to walk to many eateries. The latter is nice because, while there's a smallish restaurant inside, I wasn't really feeling the food choices. Dunn Brothers Coffee is an awesome mainstay in the Convention Center and took a nice chunk of my food and bevy budget. Bathrooms were clean. I wish there were more water fountains sprinkled throughout the place. Temperature control was also spot-on; it was freeeeezing outside and I had no need to layer indoors. My favorite part aside from Dunn Bros? RECYCLING. Minnesota has their ish down like a well-oiled machine. My Recycling-Nazi a$$ still hesitated each time, though, to try and ensure I was correctly filing by category. A colleague of mine wasn't so thrilled; she said the sorting system was way too complicated, so she was just throwing stuff away. (Gahhhh!!!) STILL AWESOME though. Here's the Scoop: Shops and restaurants here. Lots of seating and tables are clean. The flowers and foliage are gorgeous. Huge elephant ear plants are beautiful. Outdoor tables are clean as well. Here for a conference and I must say its about a good 3-4 thousand of us here and it doesn't feel overwhelming because it's very roomy! Breakfast served around 7 am, it was ok. Overall so far my experience has been great. Lots of information to soak in. Since this is a work week I plan to see some sights during my down time. I'm proud to say with the amount of people here bathrooms are spotless, this is a plus. Minneapolis has welcomed us with open arms. read more

The rooms were well circulated... bring a sweater because sometimes it gets really cold but the sound system on the main auditorium was really good. Their bathrooms could be a lot cleaner... and they do lack food option besides Dunn Bros coffee. read more

A nice space as far as convention centres go. The red stone exterior is attractive and the place is accessible and easy to navigate. I also found that convention staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. And the rest of downtown is only a short walk away. I didn't check wi-fi and quite frankly I don't care. I have attended the Wizard World Minneapolis Comic Con both years and have been very happy with my experience. I used the center's parking ramp this year and it is so easy and convenient. I usually end up spending $10 on parking. I have no complaints as of yet! read more

BIG and airy. It's your typical convention center with food vendors, tons of bathrooms, tons of doors, miles of hallways. I had an easy time finding parking, it was affordable to park there all day, finding the show I was exhibiting. Very easy going and friendly staff. read more

I am impressed with how clean this place is. So big too. I love that it's connected to the skyway. It rained a ton (and even snowed) while I was here so the skyway connection came in handy a lot. So many bathrooms and water fountains placed that you don't have to wait in line for those except for when big groups come out of the meeting rooms/auditoriums then there's a line in the bathrooms but there's always so many stalls so you can be in and out in 5 minutes. Love that there's a coffee place and craft bar and lounge. Plenty of places to sit and plenty of outlets to charge your phone. I guess my only complaint would be that the security advised me to keep my purse close by because sometimes homeless people might try to snatch purses and run away. That's a little scary since the conference center is open to the public to wander. read more

I've been to quite a few convention center (albeit out of the country), and I have to say, the Mpls Convention Center ranks as one of the best. The spaces are well appointed. I appreciate the carpeting throughout so as to dull noise. The buildings are airy feeling as well. One of the most important features would be the skyway connecting to parking as well as underground access. I didn't notice the lack of wifi (I was intentionally working offline), but when I turned my laptop on, the airport did detect wireless, but I didn't notice if they were secured access or not. If you are coming from out of town, there are hotels nearby, but I never thought of the Convention area as having great proximity to shops and restaurants....maybe I just hang out in other parts of town (although King and I is nearby). read more

I have a couple gripes about this center. My wife and I drove 45 minutes yesterday to attend the Home & Garden Show. We were there for about 5 hours. The show itself was fine, about what I expected. We learned some interesting stuff and we got some good referrals. 1) First, parking sucked royally. We were there during off-peak attendance for the show, hardly anyone was there. But ALL of the ramps within 3 or four blocks were full. I won't go into details on the parking ramp situation other than to say, I feel sorry for the people that went to the show this weekend and tried to find parking. I will NOT do it again for this reason alone. Next year, I'll try the Saint Paul show instead. 2) Second, everyone wants to dig into your pockets and overcharge you for everything. I expect this from the vendors at the show. That's why they're in business. But why do I have to pay 77% more for the Dunn Brother's coffee that I just bought up in Anoka? I double checked today. That's how much more they charge than our local suburban Dunn Brothers. Just because they have a space at the Convention Center? The guys in Anoka have expenses too! 3) My wife just had knee surgery so she needed a chair. So they charge 20 bucks to rent a wheel chair and 50 bucks for an electric chair (sponsored by the Mobility Store). Why can she use a chair for free at Coborn's, Cub Foods, Walmart, or Walgreens? But the Convention Center has to turn a disability into a profit center? The workers said that's it's to offset the cost of their wages and the chairs. Duh, what idiot Minneapolis employee told you to say that??? Why don't they use their ridiculous vendor fees to pay for these things? Maybe they should take a class in business. The purpose of ALL business is to "offset expenses" (like labor) and to make a profit. But please, not off of disabilities or injuries! Nice center. Nice show. This was a decent Convention Center. It is a big one, and it seems like this center could easily house multiple conventions at the same time (I was here for a conference and easily saw three other get togethers going on concurrently). In the big Exhibit Hall where I worked you have a huge domed area which was perfect for the Career Fair I was exhibiting at. The Convention Center has several parking options available across the street, and one can take the Sky Bridges to get into the Convention Center. Now I had an issue with my display here. Well, I used to religiously travel the country doing conventions so convention centers are a dime a dozen in my life experiences; this one is nothing special. Large rooms, bad ventilation, decently clean bathrooms, small food corners with nothing but fried foods and candy that is overpriced and dull colors. The location is in the heart of MPLS so you'll want to follow the helpful lit signs to find your way through the one-ways and get to parking (which is high priced as most metro cities are) and then walk your way through stairs, sky ways and escalators to get to the actual center - where you pray they have put up signs to direct you as there is normally 4 exhibits going on at once. Never seen rats, bugs, dust or crime and really it is just an open space for conventions - what more do you need? I can tell you that if you're a vendor at an event that they will require you pay THEIR wireless fees (which are hellacious) rather than use your wifi or mobile hot spots - they block the services out. read more

A really big place with multiple levels that resembles an airport with some shops and restaurants inside. The place is clean but the chairs in the breakout rooms were so tightly put together and have no arm rests. That can get uncomfortable when the convention you are on have these hour classes each hour of the day. Overall, it's a nice place and it is conveniently located in the downtown Minneapolis area. Parking is not free or cheap but nothing is in downtown. read more

Its a manageable size, and is organized well - more around a central location then some of the sprawling monstrosities I have been in in other cities (hello Chicago!). Well kept, simple, organized, manageable, all pluses. I can't say "yea! I'm a fan!" about ANY convention center, so three stars is as high as it can go, I think. read more

The Convention Center was average. The staff was friendly and helpful. Like many others have said, it is extremely lacking in food options, especially if you have a restrictive diet. They had a single gluten free baked good item. I would suggest taking your own food or walking ~3 blocks over to Nicollet Ave. read more

A nicely organized convention center. Everything is conveniently located. The bathrooms are extremely clean. The building is very clean. The parking is super cheap and easy. The staff that was taking money for a business convention we went to was not very informative and kind of stand-off-ish... but I can deal with most people so it didn't bother me much. Plus I am not sure if the staff is always the same or it changes with each convention. There are many things to do/restaurants that are walking distance away. read more
