At once casual and classy, debonair and divey, with a friendly and experienced staff who, from the top down, genuinely care about the community they are serving. The word "diversity" gets thrown around a lot these days, but on any given night (or afternoon) at Minnie's, you can walk in and find grizzled day laborers drinking next to done-up drag queens, nerdy young tabletop gamers cavorting beside OG Sunset Park locals, and a wild mix of assorted hotties of every gender and persuasion lounging in the 420-friendly back yard. The bartenders dish out high-end cocktails and lowbrow beer-and-shot specials with equal passion, and without a whiff of judgement or pretension. Rumor has it that there's even a celebrity guest barmaid who moonlights behind the taps on special occasions. If you're lucky, you'll catch the bar's 4-legged namesake, Minnie, roaming the floor looking for affection and treats. Lit Up Trivia and the Kings of Karaoke happen every week on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively. A nice intimate neighborhood bar with excellent bartending service. I accidentally left my wallet at the bar while paying for my drink. I realized I left my wallet at the bar an hour later when I left the bar. I immediately called the bar and the bartender quickly picked up and I told him the situation. He asked a few questions about my wallet and said he had it with him! I'm forever grateful for this bar! Cannot wait to go soon again. read more

Hole in the wall tiny bar just down the street from The L Astoria Collection Hotel. They were doing karaoke on Saturday night. Drinks were good and stiff. Would visit again if visiting NYC area, very fun atmosphere. read more

Went last week for the first time because they have trivia on Wednesdays. The staff is very friendly )the bartender told me about several taco spots in the neighbourhood where I could get a fix) and Minnie the dog (for whom the bar is named) will lovingly try to eat your food. The trivia was a really fun time (shout out to Craig!) and I'd like to go back in warmer weather to check out the back patio. Good drink selection and I appreciate any bar that has hot cider on the menu. read more

If you order a double it's twice the price of the cocktail instead of just the price of a shot added. $33 a drink is insane even if it's a double. Drinks were good but I wouldn't come back. read more

I can't speak for any of the other single white men that have been 86d from Minnie's bar but my own story is pretty cut and dry. I work nights, so often in the past I wouldn't arrive till after 2am for a night cap or to blow off some steam with karaoke should there still be the opportunity at that hour. The night of my heinous crime was no exception. I'd had an a great evening so far. No work the next day, I got to sing a song or two and even made out (consensually) with a woman at the bar earlier. Fast forward to around 5am...I've had a few at this point and I was about to call it when I stumble to the unisex bathroom hastily for a piss, forgetting to lock the door behind me. Mid stream someone walks in and instead of excusing themselves, closing the door and moving on to the other bathroom, they lurk behind me long enough for me to get uncomfortable and sarcastically say over my shoulder, "I'm ok, I got this. I don't need you to hold it for me, thanks." After finishing up and washing my hands I arrive back at the bar to a melodrama involving the KJ comforting some stranger and the barkeep/owner shaking his head. Apparently this person's version of the story had me lurking in the bathroom waiting to expose myself to unsuspecting women and doing so at every opportunity. I thought after 4 years of what seemed like friendship that this person's accounting of events would be taken with a grain of salt given the circumstances. I was wrong. I was shamed and asked to leave. I've had miserable people try and bring me down to their level before at this very bar so I tried not to let it affect me too much. I'm human, it hurt. Fast forward to karaoke night the following week and you will find me popping back in for a song and some drinks. Luis won't serve me till I apologize to this person who walked in on me peeing. Cyclone Jack (KJ) is flabbergasted that I could be so rude and unrepentant. I tell him I refuse to apologize to someone who walked in on me in the first place. If I wasn't in such a good mood the night of my crime, trust me, I would have had more serious words to offer this bathroom stalker. Having stated as much, I walk out. Fast forward several months of not supporting Minnie's bar and its toxic dynamic to find me coming back for a song and some ginger beer. I know what you're thinking but I'm lonely and love to sing so I give it a try only to be officially banned by another bartender/owner, Henry, within 5 minutes of walking in the door. He actually even interrupted a conversation I was having with some of their less offensive regulars (whom I like) to pull me aside and give me the boot in solidarity with his partner who no longer even works karaoke nights. Without even knowing the details of what actually happened that fateful night?! I calmly stated that there are plenty of bars in brooklyn (a bit farther of a walk in a snowstorm but whatever) and I had grown tired of having to defend myself every time I spent money there anyways. I asked for my credit card back, left my untouched ginger beer, wished him luck and walked out never to return. In short: The staff protects the many fragile egos of the special interest groups that frequent the joint even when they are clearly in the wrong. This includes a list of trigger words that really should be posted if they are to be enforced by banishment but whatever. No big loss. No one should have to defend themselves for being themselves in a public place especially when they are a loyal paying customer. That type of slander is uncalled for but "hurt people hurt people" and Minnie's bar staff is incapable of//indifferent to telling the difference between the entitlement of its younger patrons and the needs of the neighborhood OGs like myself. Now I drink at Mama Tried after work and I must say it's a pleasure to drink with and be served by adults who don't pander to whims of children. read more

Bar is nice and has a good selection of hard alcohol. Saturdays is karaoke. The DJ seems to favor those who can sing. I had to sit through depressing songs chosen by people who obviously showed up after me, and by the time the DJ finally got to my selection, I was over it. It was like 2 hours after the fact. Not sure if karaoke night is worth it tbh. Go if you can sing or choose emo, hipster crap apparently. read more

This place has a lovely, warm atmosphere and great drinks. Plus their namesake is an adorable dog, who I got to meet! I got to go a few times pre-pandemic and thought it would be my new neighborhood go-to. While sadly that wasn't in the cards, I'm looking forward to that changing hopefully soon. The few times I've picked up to-go during lockdown service has been friendly, and their patio and bar seating is open now. I look forward to getting some outdoor drinks here this summer. read more

This place is and has been great for awhile. Perfect spot for drinks, friendly folks, friendly bartenders. We came the first week they had their spiced cider- I got mine spiked with rum and it was delicious! Previous trips we've gotten the frozen drinks and those have always been spot on, and more than just your standard "Pina colada" "margarita" and "strawberry daiquiri". They've expanded their food offerings since the pandemic and related bar food laws with not only Table 87 pizza, but also Kai Feng Fu dumplings, air fried tots, and soft pretzels. I can vouch for almost all of these- nah, actually all of them. They're all great. They were also chill with us bringing some tacos we got to go elsewhere, which was really appreciated. I had no idea there was a cute outdoor space! They have heaters and hot drinks which are perfect for the cooler weather. The staff is absolutely delightful and have great recommendations if you are torn between 2 cocktails. They also follow protocols so you definitely feel safe, a huge plus. The tables are perfectly spaced and how the patio is situated it's not windy. They open at 2 so get there while it's still sunny. This sweet gem is worth checking out. read more

What's not to love about this charming Sunset Park bar? Great selection of cocktails and beers on tap, and an awesome large back patio make this one of my favorite Brooklyn spots. Hey! They also have two cool pinball machines, and snacks. May I say also that this bar is kept really clean as well? That sort of thing goes far for me.
