Minto-Brown Park is one of my go-to spots for walking and enjoying nature. There are so many trails to explore that every visit can feel a little different. It's also great for biking, roller skating, or just getting outside and moving. I enjoy all the seasons here. One of my favorite things about this park is how connected it is. If you keep heading north, the trails will take you all the way to Riverfront City Park and Wallace Marine Park, making for a longer adventure without ever needing to get back in your car. Great dog park. It's not fenced so if you have a runner, don't go here. Our Dane is glued to our side so we loved exploring the park. Tons of space and it has a trail system too. Was a nice break to let our pup stretch his legs on our day trip to Salem. He met sweet dogs and we had no issues with aggressive dogs. Plenty of doggy stations. Ample parking. read more

You call me out upon the waters... Peace amidst the chaos of city life this park has room for you to wonder. Great for dogs, bikes, runs or walks you have trials all around. Even spotted a playground the kids. Seems like a nice place to have a picnic during the sunny days. Sit and read a book by the river, they have some benches near the water. They have various parking lots depending on where you want to start. Glad I saw it before leaving. read more

This is an absolutely lovely and very spacious park including several walking trails, a fishing dock, a small playground area, river access, and a dog park. There are 3 parking lots to begin your trail from. You can access the fishing dock from Lot #1. If you are looking for the dog park, use parking lot #2 for closest access. The dog park is a big unfenced area with picnic tables mostly by the vehicles, benches throughout and a water fountain near the entrance. Various trails can be accessed through here. Dogs must be leashed for any trails outside the dog park. It is also possible to get to Riverfront Park and from there, to downtown Salem, through Minto-Brown. There is a lot of protected wildlife habitat throughout the park so it is best to stay on the trail. The trails are good for walking, jogging, bike riding, skating, and wagon rides. For closest river access, use Parking Lot #3. (Notice: Certain trails do get flooded in times of rain.) read more

This park is massive with nice bike/walking trails throughout. Minto-Brown Park is larger then Central Park in NY and now connects into downtown Salem via the pedestrian bridge into waterfront park. Sections of Minto-Brown Park run along the Willamette River and there are also ponds, woods, fields and conservation areas containing lots of wildlife (including turtles!). The park also has a play structure and dedicated dog park area - something for everyone. read more

It's a cute place to walk around. Large large park. Saw a bunch of cute puppies everywhere. I fell in love and instantly missed my dog while in Salem. Also got to see some ducks and a swan. Super awesome! I took my camera with me, and I definitely got some great shots! I was going back and forth with my phone camera and my canon. lol. It's beautiful there. I was only in Salem for half a day and most of my time I was at the park. So many colors, beautiful nature, great walk and a large dog park with many gorgeous pups. I was in dog heaven! read more

Wow this place is big. I was driving down I-5 and wanted to walk /exercise my dog to stretch our legs. It was worth the detour. There are two parking lots. One is larger and close to water. There is a very large grassy area, at least 1-2 football fields. It seemed owners picked up after their dogs as I saw no pop. Interaction was a little as everyone was spaced out. read more

Huge fan of this park for just about everything it has to offer. The dog park is great and always packed with friendly doggos. My dogs are huge fans, and always get excited when they realize where we are. I also love going on walks here, and can't wait to bring my bike! Its just so nice to have a park like this near where I live, and to keep finding new walks and different cool spots there. read more

This is a nice park along the river. There is ample parking and a river bank trail. There are other trails, places to pick nick. If you love dogs this is a great place to exercise yours, or to live vicariously by watching other people's dogs play. Tip come in fall when the trees are in their fall colors. read more

This park has come a long way in the last 15 years. What once was a soupy brown mess that attracted drug users and craigslist killers is now a pretty dang family (and everyone) friendly park. All the paths seem to be paved (stroller friendly!) and the scenery isn't too shabby, either (if you can get over the still-existing soupy brown mess that is the Willamette River). While I prefer Bush park for all my playground needs I think this park is a great option for dog lovers and adult walks with kids in strollers. read more

Who needs Prozac when you have Minto-Brown? Minto-Brown provides two things that make me very happy: plenty of running trails in a nice, peaceful area and a fantastic dog park. Trails: MB has lots of trails for walking and running and parking is readily available in many areas of the park. Dog Park: Nothing makes me happier than when I see dogs excitedly run around after escaping the confines of the car they came in. The dog park area is awesome, we take our dog to the dog park a few times a week. There are usually a lot of people at the park around lunchtime and then after 4pm. We usually try to go at those times to make sure our dog gets a lot of socialization. They have plenty of bags/ trashcans and people are good about picking up after their dog. There's also a little picnic area, with a covered table. On the weekends I've noticed that the picnic area gets a lot of use. Overall a great place to go to! read more

Wow!!! Beautiful trails and paths galore! Today was my first time to this park, and I was impressed. I rode my bike, and it was fairly flat with some incline. I started off at Parking Lot #1 and made a giant loop around the park back to Parking Lot #1. It took about 45 minutes and I crossed over two bridges. The path along the Willamette River was stunning and had lots of benches. I think it's a nice place close to the city for a quick outdoor getaway. :) read more

Flipping doggy paradise! There's a giant off-leash dog park area and many trails that are accessible from the dog park, including one that leads to the river where dogs can play fetch in the water, cool off, etc. I went on a weekday morning not expecting many dogs but I was wrong. There were a ton of dogs, including a couple of dachshunds, running around and having the time of their lives! The people I encountered were all chatty and very friendly, and were clearly dog lovers. So glad I discovered this park! There's a lot of free parking, plenty of water stations for the dogs and dogs of all sizes hanging out. read more

This place was fantastic. We were traveling with our two dogs and found the place. What a gold mine! 30 acres of off leash running and playing. Lots of locals with there dogs who are all very friendly and welcoming. Water fountain and plenty of garbage cans placed to through out your dog waste bags. We recently moved to Salem and have a six month old Yorkie puppy. I love visiting this park because: 1. It's nice to stroll the length of it, and also the variety of trails that lead off the main field. I've seen people bike the area. There's also a segment right by the water. 2. Of the five times we've gone, he's only had one dog physically threaten him. 3. It's got poo bags and garbage cans. I have seen some not picked up poo though. 4. There are many dogs. Fabulous, large dog park. Off leash. No fencing, but there's enough space for the dogs to stay safe. Lovely views of the hills and trees. Lots of other dogs to play with. There's a large, grassy field, some trails covered with bark chips, and a lot of blackberry bushes that contain the dogs' play. read more

This place makes me wish I had a dog. I love seeing everyone out with their dogs and there is certainly tons of space for them to run around! The endless paved trails and loops are awesome for running. It was fun my first time to just get lost in the park and back-track back to my car. My second time in, I wanted to do a loop (the orange loop, or the blue and green), but despite my memory of the online map of trails, once I got into the park it was harder to define. So that's my only big complaint - I wish the park had more signage. Or ANY signage really. The few that I do come across once in a while are incredibly outdated and not helpful at all. They don't even have a "you are here" mark. So for newbies like me, it's a little frustrating at first, but I guess the more I go, the more I get comfortable with the trails. And I suppose getting lost in a run is part of the fun :) read more

Great place to take your dog for runs & let him off the leash. Just don't step in any dog poop. Although there are poop bags, many owners neglect picking up the doggy poo. Other than that my dog goes nuts running around here off leash. The rest of the park is excellent & has alot of trails and biking & running paths. I'm grateful that the city takes great care of this park & I love coming here with my Doby. read more

I take my dog here every week if possible. What a great place to get some exercise for your companion and they can go swimming as well. They provide garbage bags and and plenty of parking as well. And some people are nice enough to bring water for all the dogs. read more

I love to go out to Minto-Brown park. They have great trails and paths. Weather you are a runner,jogger,walking, or biker. This is the best place in Salem. The trails run along the river and through wood and fields. Its so peacefully and quite. I love taking the family on walks and rides. They do 5K and other event on the island. Whether you need a place to walk, jog, bike, get river access or take your kids/dogs, this is the perfect park. There is a large unfenced dog park, many paved trails and many more bark dust or dirt trails. Lots of trees. My only woes are that there aren't enough signs except for big billboard maps at the main parking lots. Some trails can be impossible to find if you aren't familiar with them. If you have seasonal allergies (especially if you are allergic to cottonwood trees) this place can be death in the spring. There are so many things to love about this park though, you have to go! read more

Me for the numerous geocaches, paved trails, dog friendly environment, with safety in numbers balanced by some sort of privacy as well. My dog for the varied environment and manners of his fellow canines.
