We go their nearly daily, never had issues. The city always informs us of wildlife dangers. I take my pup there for walks or play at the dog park. I'll always recommend this park to everyone.

This is an absolutely lovely and very spacious park including several walking trails, a fishing dock, a small playground area, river access, and a dog park. There are 3 parking lots to begin your trail from. You can access the fishing dock from Lot #1. If you are looking for the dog park, use parking lot #2 for closest access. The dog park is a big unfenced area with picnic tables mostly by the vehicles, benches throughout and a water fountain near the entrance. Various trails can be accessed through here. Dogs must be leashed for any trails outside the dog park. It is also possible to get to Riverfront Park and from there, to downtown Salem, through Minto-Brown. There is a lot of protected wildlife habitat throughout the park so it is best to stay on the trail. The trails are good for walking, jogging, bike riding, skating, and wagon rides. For closest river access, use Parking Lot #3. (Notice: Certain trails do get flooded in times of rain.)

Fantastic place for a walk or bike ride. Very handicap accessible. Many trails to choose from and it can be a bit daunting the first couple of visits, but all routes are clearly marked. I highly recommend a visit.

It's a cute place to walk around. Large large park. Saw a bunch of cute puppies everywhere. I fell in love and instantly missed my dog while in Salem. Also got to see some ducks and a swan. Super awesome! I took my camera with me, and I definitely got some great shots! I was going back and forth with my phone camera and my canon. lol. It's beautiful there. I was only in Salem for half a day and most of my time I was at the park. So many colors, beautiful nature, great walk and a large dog park with many gorgeous pups. I was in dog heaven!

    Green grass!

This is such a great place to bring you dog to run and meet new dogs! There is lots of trails to walk. Friendly dogs and people. Scenery is nice. Plenty of shade trees.

Love this place for the whole family! The off leash area by the gravel road is a little scary but overall a great place for dogs!

It has been mowed but obviously weed eating around the fence was an additional expense, it hasn't been done. There are holes on the fenced area that could warrant a sprained or broken ankle if you don't look. They are at least 6 inches deep and 8 to 10 inches in diameter. This park has obviously been neglected by the City of Salem and needs attention. The lake adjacent to the dog park had people fishing. The only one to catch a fish was an eagle? I question even eating a fish out of that pond. There were a few people coming out of the woods while I was there, which leads to the fact that there are still some homeless in the area. Sadly, this park is not on the city of Salem's priority list and wont be back

This park has two play areas; a larger one for big dogs and a smaller area for small dogs. Both areas have a picnic table, but no water so make sure to bring your own dog water and bowl. There is also a large river right next to (but outside of the fenced area) the park for dogs that like to play in the water. There is generally a good mix of dogs here and so far we have yet to have any issues.

Theoretically, there is also a free boat dock, but at the time of writing, a very large tree is fallen across it. Restrooms and garbage are maintained by Oregon State Parks. When I visited, it was pretty clean. The trail along the river is very pretty, although I was only able to access about a mile of it before it got too flooded to hike through. I noticed lots of poisonous plants including poison oak, snowberries, and hemlock. But also tons of moss, lichens, and ferns. In addition to the picnic tables in the picnic areas, there were also several solitary tables set out along the river. This is great for a more solitary picnic, taking a break during a long bike ride, or getting some privacy for drawing or Journaling. Overall just about as good as it gets for free.

They don't have any trail maps posted, however, so we weren't sure of the distance of the trails or where they went. One trail follows close to the river, and that was nice, with a mix of open sun and shaded forest. The trails were mostly flat dirt or gravel, no strenuous inclines. There's a large off-leash dog exercise area. Dogs are supposed to be on a leash in the rest of the park, but sadly most owners were just letting their dogs run the trails off-leash. They have picnic tables & a good, clean restroom facility as well.
