The nurse and doctors are so nice and not clinical. Takes their time to ask questions and doesn't make you feel rushed or like a number! It is a walk-in clinic so first come first serve. The best thing is, after you check in, they let you know when to come back. So do not call to make an appointment. I would say the latest to go would probably be 3pm to be safe if you want to be seen. I went on a Sunday at 1 and they were all booked and they close at 4pm. If you are skeptical about here, don't be. It would be a good decision to go.

One of his APRNs prescribed an antibiotic meant for upper respiratory infections for my UTI - haiyaa! (Uncle Roger sound). I hope my PCP/APRN are not reading this, but if they are, they will know where I disappeared to, and it is here, my new medical home for non-emergencies! I still love them but I also love this place....a LOT. Access Medical Mililani is my new go-to place when I can no longer: 1) wait days/weeks for an appointment 2) suffer insanely 3) bear the thought of waiting 45 minutes to 1 hour or more in the waiting room to be seen by my PCP 4) bear the thought of driving in traffic going to the appointment, being stuck in a crowded paid parking lot with bad drivers, being stuck in traffic going home all while feeling sick 5) wonder how my PCP can diagnose me over the phone without checking my lungs, my ears, my throat. Both doctors took care of me on two separate occasions - in person! No telehealth Tom Foolery here. They were very knowledgeable, professional, caring, and kind. They explained everything in detail and I never felt rushed. I really appreciated their time in taking care of me. I was very grateful for this place and all doctors/workers that run this clinic. I overheard the receptionist say that they take Quest insurance, and that is great, because a lot of places will not take Quest. I know so many people that need help with Quest but they can't get seen. The name "Access" in Access Medical really is a great name for this place. I also love the fact that they charge you the co-payment right up front instead of having it to mail it by check weeks later, which is inconvenient to a procrastinator like myself who throws mail into a big pile without checking it for weeks. This place is super convenient, inside of Mililani Long's Town Center. Parking is free, zip in and out. It's a walk-in clinic only, so no appointment needed. I don't see people waiting too long to be seen. Shop at Long's while you get your RX filled out conveniently in the store. RETURN FACTOR: Don't want to have to look forward to going to a medical clinic anytime soon, but when I do, it will be Access Medical.

Each follow-up required re-explaining my entire situation, wasting significant time. Thursday: Despite assurances, only one script made it to the pharmacy. After endless back-and-forth, I was told to record a video of my prescription bottles--a baffling request for a medical office. Still, nothing was resolved. Friday: Out of medication, I was finally instructed to pick up paper scripts. With my children arriving that day and after a full week of frustration, I couldn't make the trip. I remain without a critical prescription days later. Conclusion: This has been the worst introduction to a doctor's office I've ever experienced. While their front desk staff is polite, the lack of communication, follow-through, and accountability was staggering. I have yet to meet the doctor, despite being a patient for over a week. The labs are fast and they are great at their job (I have notoriously difficult veins and they always get blood on the first try). We have also been to the urgent care multiple times and I have never experienced such a fast turnaround in my life... we are typically in and out in under an hour. The building always seems to be very clean, receptionists have always been pleasant, and we love the option to check in online ahead of time for urgent care. Unlike seeing a primary doctor, Adventist Urgent Care takes walk-ins, and the next available doctor will see you as soon as possible. Unfortunately, due to their walk-in the wait time can take close to an hour or so (depending on your condition). Note: Adventist urgent care providers will take patients with worst condition first to make sure they get the immediate care. Also, if its your first time there you will need to fill out a registration form to be in the system and have any easier time transferring documents or keeping in contact.

Be aware the prices on some goods maybe higher, especially when compared to Walmart. But they do have sales and if you have a CVS account, you may get coupons sent to you in your email. This in addition to the standard coupon you get on the ridiculously long cvs receipt you get at checkout lol.

I mean, it happens at every clinic. Overall, I find that the staff at this location are much more laid-back than the ones at Mililani. Definitely a comfortable country vibe. I find that wait times here are much shorter too. A caveat is that an online patient system is nonexistent (okay, I mean it is, but they don't promote it), and appointments can only be made over the phone. I'm hoping that should change when they start implementing their new electronic health system in July 2019.

Granted a new system was just put in place so growing pains were to be expected; can understand that. Anyway, helpful and knowledgeable staff and masks are still required for all clinics. The pharmacy staff are good people and super efficient. It's important to note there is a separate refill pharmacy over by the exchange. Even when there are a lot of people waiting for their Rx I'm rarely there very long.

I went it with the mindset that I would have to fight to have my issue dealt with appropriately and timely, which can be typical with military medical processes. I was worried that my concerns would get dismissed but Ms. Mary Ono (Family Medical Practitioner-Board Certification) listened to my issues, completed an exam, and referred me to two separate specialists to further evaluate my concerns. Before I left my appointment, she provided me with a contact list and instructions to contact the two specialty clinics she referred me to. If you are assigned to 8TSC clinic, I recommend Ms. Ono as PCM. Hopefully you get the same care I received today. Based on this visit, and a few others I have had with Ms. Ono, I believe there is some hope for military medical care. I will definitely annotate this on the JOES survey that I'm sure I'll be getting soon asking about my visit.
