In my case, they did more than I expected, did it faster than they said, and also did it for a lower price than they first told me. I am a school teacher and a single mom. The weekend before school starts is the most intense, next to the last week of school. I had the absolutely best experience working with Bruce from Minuteman Press in Bellevue. I was under a time constraint to get wedding invitations out and was looking at online printing companies that would have taken 2-3 business days to process and then mailing time. Plus, they were quoting me $200-$250 for my printing needs. I called and spoke with Bruce who said that he could have my invitations printed the next day and even beat the other prices, quoting me at $150 in total, including tax. I presented a somewhat complicated job, and CJ came through. I needed two spiral bound weekly planners with customized content, for personal use. He gave a quote the day after the files were uploaded. It was a reasonable figure. Once we ironed out the proper dimensions we discussed a schedule. I asked for it as his time permitted, by the end of the month if possible. He did it within a week. The job involved prepress manipulation of five PDF files, two of which were password protected. In over two dozen instances the top of the page came from one PDF file and the bottom of the page came from another PDF file. The spiral bound weekly planners are perfect. I wanted to print product labels fast and minuteman press went above and beyond. The original image I sent them was low resolution and they quickly caught it and let me know and even offered to help fix it. I sent them the original (a PowerPoint document) and the font was lost (PowerPoint doesn't save fonts). They were able to find the fonts quickly and re-print the labels with the correct fonts. He helped me get a clear picture of what I needed, and then provided info on other options that made the whole process much easier! I have an ongoing artistic printing need for a hobby of mine. It's not a large project, however, there are some unique details involved, and I mostly know exactly what I want done. I just don't have the tools and/or resources to get it accomplished in my own home; by my own hand. Enter Minuteman Press in Bellevue, WA. The first time I walked in the front door of this business, I was fortunate to speak first with Bruce, the owner. I explained to him what I wanted/needed done, and he assured me that his company could do it. Bruce is a great guy but, more importantly, he was correct. There have been a couple of potholes in the road along the way; mostly early-on as I was developing a working relationship with various staff members. However, for 90+% of the artwork layout and printing produced, the process has been seamlessly and beautifully completed. I interact primarily with CJ, who has been great to work with. He communicates reasonably well and, when I have asked for artistic input, has offered some great feedback. At this point, after almost two years of doing business with Minuteman Press, my interaction with CJ is mostly perfunctory. He and I now have it down to about 5 minutes of preparation prior to the project going to print. They went beyond what I expected with printing and cutting the bookmarks to look so beautiful. The pictures had to be specially cropped from a group photo and they turned out so great. They have great customer service here, but their print quality is sub-par for digital print jobs. If you look closely you can actually see the pixels despite the fact that they strangely require their files to be 350 dpi. (I'm a designer that has worked with dozens of different printers and none of them require anything higher than 300 dpi.) If you can afford the extra time, there are a lot of online printers that will do higher quality printing at half the cost. read more

Very quick, very helpful. As an artist, I labor over my work and need my prints to be accurate, otherwise it looks like I don't know how to do my job. Previously I'd have to take my laptop to Kinkos with my thumbdrive, nurse my file in Photoshop, give them the file, print, fail, repeat and this usually wastes over an hour of my time. Their prints are just too dark and the saturation levels never sync. I'm never going back to Kinko's! Well at the last minute (that's how these things go right? Deadlines..) I found out I was out of business cards that I very much needed for something work-related. So I sent in a plea for help Monday night. Tuesday morning within 10 minutes of opening shop I got a reply asking for more details about what I wanted in my order (I was getting a quote). Sent an updated file only once. I expected bad things to happen. Times like this when you need it the least. Murphy's Law right? Not even an hour and a half later they told me my order of 250 cards was ready to be picked up.
