I placed an order for a large format print with them and the paper it was printed on was discolored (faded from a white to light yellow). I have experience caring for and storing giclee prints and have never had this issue with any of my other prints. They made no attempt to help resolve the issue. Find a printer that actually cares about the quality of their product and cares about customer service. read more

If you're an artist who has an interest in digitally archiving or reproducing your work, Bellevue Fine Art is the best place I've found in the Seattle area. As a painter, I've been using a flat bed scanner for years, but the lighting is inconsistent, and I usually have to do a fair amount of digital retouching afterward. I've tried reproducing my work at quite a few other print studios in town, but it tends to be expensive, their paper options are limited, and their customer service is pretty limited too (most of them are self-serve). It's nearly impossible to find a place that takes the time (or cares enough) to ensure that the colours in the print actually match the colours in my original paintings. Bellevue Fine Art is super straight forward about pricing (there's a calculator online). They offer a fantastic hi-res digital scanning service (which includes colour-matched proofing plus a disc with hi-res files and web jpgs), and a huge variety of materials to print on. My favourites are the textured watercolour papers, but they also have photo papers, metallic papers, card stock, canvas, vinyl, fabric, and even metal! I have never walked out the door with a print that didn't look fantastic. :) Scott, the owner, is incredibly knowledgeable, and he's always happy to answer questions. The turn-around time is reasonable (usually about a week for scanning and proofing, and less than a week for prints). The quality of my prints and the excellent customer service at Bellevue Fine Art will keep me coming back. I can't recommend this place highly enough. read more

The only possible mark against this place is the slightly difficult time I had finding it, but after dealing with Scott and after seeing the quality of my print, I have nothing but great things to say. I went in one day for to check out my options for getting a picture printed and laminated on one of their fiberboard backings. I also had some quality questions about how big I could go with the print. He was very helpful and I quickly had a quote. A little over a week later I had a beautiful print. It was an added bonus that the "float" laminate option I got came with premade hanging blocks. Just measured and leveled and hanging was quick. For the quality of the print and the service the price was definitely reasonable, and I will hopefully be returning for future printing needs. read more

I brought in three of my encaustic paintings for photographing and they treated them with such care, didn't leave them under the lights, special attention, etc etc. The price was unbeatable for scanning/photographing. On top of this they gave me great ideas and actual examples of finishing my giclee to look like the original. Their place is amazing, too. My kind of non-corporate establishment. I've been a graphic designer for over 15 years and have been on both the client side and service side. I've worked with many different vendors and I've experienced nothing, NOTHING like what happened to me here. My project was neither large, nor big budget, but had strong personal/emotional value. My experience started off fine. The two young ladies that greeted me and helped me were kind and I had no issues. I was a bit concerned that they didn't offer a proof, which is common/expected and instead reminded me of the $25 minimum fee (which isn't published anywhere I could find). Pressed for time and seeing no alternatives, I proceeded with my full order of 5 giclee prints. I took the prints to my picture framer and after we both looked at the work, we noticed that it had several problems, none of which were immediately visible in the digital file on screen. I emailed a couple times with Scott, and could tell that he was already not wanting to really give me any more time or attention, basically because my job was too small. Here's what he said: "We can do that kind of work and charge a small editing fee, but there's a limit to what we can do and the time we can spend on something like this. I'm sure we can improve it some, but to be honest we can't achieve perfection on this." Um... OK? "a limit to what you can do for something like this?" To Scott's credit, he said he tried to do some color correction, but without success. So I decided to have my friend (who is a pro digital photo artist) rework the image--perfecting it in an hour BTW--and told Scott I'd upload for a reprint. I asked again about doing just a single print, and he finally offered to do a proof (no mention of an additional fee). Then I waited. Checking in occasionally, and getting the runaround on why my proof wasn't ready. "Big job, maybe later... etc. etc." 6 days later (!), without any other email or word from Scott, I get an email invoice for the proof that cost more than an actual print! With absolutely no time left, I talked to one of the young women on the phone, and she was very kind. I reminded her of my deadline and she said she could have me look at the proof in the morning and I could have the final at end of day. I agreed, then asked about the proof cost. I was only wondering if there had been a misunderstanding, because Scott had previously offered to do the proof for me. She said she was going to ask Scott, then to my surprise, he got on the phone. What happened next blew me away. Simply asking him about the proof charge set him off on a tirade complete with telling me I should take my business elsewhere! TWICE! Agitated and apparently deeply insulted, Scott proceeded to give me an ear load how he had to "read email," "listen to voicemail" and "open files," all of which "cost him money," etc. etc. He belittled me, my project and could care less, and for what, 10 bucks? Interrupting him at the point where he was emphasizing to me he had to make money, I was able to get a word in, and told him I'd pay the fee. Then I asked him to confirm that I could get it the next day--which is what his employee told me--and he went on again how he couldn't do a 24hr turnaround (for a job that takes 10 minutes to print, trim, roll flat and package? c'mon!). I reminded him of the fact he had the file which was uploaded 6 days ago, so not sure where he got 24 hours in his head. With complete disregard, I knew again he had no interest in completing the job when he suggested a SECOND time I look elsewhere for service, so I kindly obliged! I'm so happy I did, too! I went to The Color Group and had an amazing experience (got me right in, did a proof, printed everything while I waited, and did an incredible color retouch on their own accord that resulted in super color, contrast and saturation). I've never written a bad review, but I gotta say, Scott blew it with a potential new customer. read more

These guys are the best. I had an art piece of mine imaged at a printer's in Seattle which got great reviews but I have to say that I was really disappointed. I primarily paint images of flowers and the colors were just so off I didn't know where to begin--if the center of the flower was good the petals were completely wrong and vice versa. They kinda made me feel like that was a good as it could get. I was reluctant to try again because I didn't want to pay to scan all over again with the same result. However, I eventually decided to try Bellevue Fine Art Repro. and drove out to Bellevue with the same painting. I was blown away by the difference. The scan and proof print were as close to the original as I could have hoped for (the first time around). Since then I have scanned 7 other paintings and artwork for a line of cards that I am working to bring to market. I have yet to be disappointed and always feel grateful that they do their best to save me money where they can. It takes me a bit more time and hassle to drive from North Seattle across the lake but the quality and service more than make up for any inconvenience. They will be my go to for as long as I paint. read more

Amanda and Scott took special care in choosing the correct paper for the photo print. All I knew about papers was that it can be glossy or Matte.
