I bought a 23 Atlas, they had it numerous times to fix the same problem and were unsuccessful. We started with the service manager Rusty and he pushed the problem off until he was no longer employed there. The car was out of warranty now and we had the same problem. The case was sent up to a higher tech at VW and then the dealership hid behind them. Tim Pullo the GM is incompetent, so was Rusty. The only good people in that dealership to deal with is Eric a salesman, and John in finance. My recommendation is to stay away from the dealership, especially the service department and the GM. read more

I have purchased countless vehicles from countless dealers, and previously worked in the auto industry for many years. My experience at Minuteman Volkswagen was exceptional and not typical. The entire purchase process couldn't have been easier and more professionally handled. The staff is experienced, friendly, knowledgeable and appear to actually enjoy working at this dealership. The dealership itself is a small location, very relaxed, with Grateful Dead music playing in the background....helpful, knowledgeable and experienced employees in a relaxing store is definitely not typical when buying a car!! Not being one to post reviews very often, I felt compelled to post this after the salesperson, Cameron, extended an exceptional level of service after the sale that you will not find very often (a long story having nothing to do with Minuteman). read more

Last month we purchased a pre-owned Jeep Wrangler here , working with Eric and Timmy. Despite working under Covid restrictions , they went the extra mile to make the transaction happen - calling us from their homes and personal cells when the Jeep became available, put it "on hold" til we came the next morning, giving a very fair trade-in value, and calling in their finance manager (day off) to ensure we could process the paperwork that day and leave with our new vehicle and keys in hand Days later we discovered a glitch in the Jeeps GPS system which they were very helpful in getting addressed , and authorized having our local Jeep dealer repair at no cost to us . This is the fifth Volkswagen that I have bought from Minuteman, yes they are that good! Living in Southern New Hampshire, I drive by two other VW dealerships on my way to theirs. There is even one 20 minutes in the opposite direction on the seacoast that I tried for service and bypass because of poor customer relations. I have an issue with the dealership for the $395 documentation fee charged but I really liked my salesperson Eric Kaminski. When I called about a used car I saw online they told me my salesperson would be Eric. I feel lucky about that because he was a good match for me. He was soft spoken, low pressure, informative and professional. He let me take the car for a long test drive and then answered all my questions. When it was time to pick up the car he offered to come in on his day off because it was the only day I could do it. He processed the paper work quickly and then went over all the features of the car including pre-setting a few radio stations and entering addresses into the Navi system. Between the time I first did the test drive, did a lot of reach and then decided to buy the VW I went to 3 other dealerships and came away shaking my head because of the high pressure and annoying sales experience. During that in between time, I emailed Eric a few times with questions. He got back to me promptly with the answers. This convertible driving grandmother highly recommends Eric. No, he is not my grandson but he'd be welcomed as a guest at my family dinner table. read more

My entire experience with Minuteman Volkswagen was awful from start to finish. In 2020 we went and looked at used Tiguan's, I was the one looking and had done a lot of research about what I wanted in a car and had settled on the Tiguan. The first thing the salesman showed me, a woman, was the trunk. He even mentioned how many groceries it could hold. He did everything short of call me, "little lady." Unfortunately, I had to bring my husband in to finish the deal because I couldn't make headway with them. The car we bought was a 2017 Tiguan and within a month of having the car we had to return to the dealership twice to replace the breaks and the battery. They did cover the cost but not without a fight. I should have just returned the car then. Flash forward to 2023 and the engine on the car gives out and we are given a 13000 quote to repair it. I immediately went to Minuteman for assistance and all they offered was a phone number to Volkswagen customer service. No offer for trade in, no offer to fix it. NOTHING. So, if you like sexist dealers who sell lemons and don't stand behind their cars shop here. If not, DO NOT SHOP HERE. There are plenty of other perfectly good Volkswagen dealers in the area. read more

I received a call from "Chris" to come up and take a look at an Audi S5 Convertible. On-line it looked good, and I asked about a trade for my S6. Predictably he said he would need to see it etc. I agreed. I would have preferred to work with Chris, over the phone he seemed reasonably professional. Minuteman is about 26 miles from Boston, and it took about 45 minutes to get there. Audi S5 convertibles are rare so I felt it was worth the trip to take a look at it. The S6 is rarer still, and my thinking was perhaps, there would be an opportunity to make a deal. I had test driven the S5 a few years before and wanted to compare the feel, and go from there - considering it had been a few years and I am partial to convertibles - I couldn't rightly recall just how small it was by comparison. I pull into this dealership and instantly I realized that this operation was not managed from a "corporate" perspective. Which could be a good thing or a bad thing. What could be good about it is that the opportunity of a deal is sometimes a better bet. The bad thing about such an organization is that things can go unpredictably wrong, and staff can be prone to be more inept and unprofessional. Unfortunately, it went wrong. There was a poorly dressed greeter, looking person with poorly applied make-up leaning against a car in the "showroom". I was still on a business call when she was sprawled against some car in this "showroom", peering out. She had a ridiculous expression on her face. I spent a few more minutes on the phone, exited the car and made my way towards the "showroom". The woman asked if she could help me, still looking ridiculous. I asked for Chris, and she said one moment. She sauntered over and returned with "Chris", who was wearing a very pastel blue shirt. Immediately he passed me over to this same greeter-girl saying, "Dima will take care of you", without another word he practically ran full speed for the other side of the room as if taking cover from some aerial assault. It was a disappointing start, considering I had spoken to Chris a few times already and didn't want to deal with any drama - and this chick reeked of drama. I follow her to her desk which was a mess, and sat down. She sits across from me glaring at me. Me: " I test drove this car, the S5, a few years ago, I liked it, it has been a while would like to see if we can work out a deal..." She interrupts Dima:" Well you are already going to other dealers driving the car, I don't want you to waste my time or yours .....why discuss things further?" Me: "Well, it was a few years ago, when I drove it, curious how small the cabin is compared to the feel of the S6 - I would be interested to see what you would give me for it - if I feel like the S5 would work for me." Dima:"How much you want for your car?" Me:"How much will you give me?" Indignant Tone Dima:".....humph....you tell me, you may want $50,000....? Me:" ...it's not worth that....the book value is perhaps $24,000...whatever book value is...." Dima:" We don't go by book value...." ...and she gets up with my license to make a copy, at this point I was frustrated with the attitude and the way this whole process was going.....she didn't ask the year, miles etc....then comes back and says... Dima: "will you buy this car today....put the money down....her mouth hung agape as if she was catching flies" I am like, what dimension did I just walk in here...is this woman stoned? Now more frustrated, I said "look....why don't we establish if I like the car first...can we just go outside and see it?" "We can then go from there" I mean what a joke. She paused as if to think about it. This lazy ass gets out of the chair and we walk to the car....I get into it...and right away realize it is just too small...no need for a test drive.....no need for further discussion. Told her it wasn't a good fit, not worth taking the drive. That was it. The worst sales person I have ever encountered. You have to sell the cars on the lot and try to make a deal. You don't take them to your desk and try to close a deal without showing the car, or asking any questions. It was strange. She had it in reverse.....and had me looking at the wrong car altogether due to the cubic inches within the S5 cabin. You gotta take some info, qualify your customer, show the car, and go from there. I see how they have a low rating, glad I didn't get any further in the buying process with this outfit. I can only imagine how bad things can get. The inside of this S5 also was extremely busted. I recommend detailing the car, or at least washing the cars you have for sale - customers will appreciate it, and you may see an increase in your numbers. read more

I went there once and never will again. I had some suspension problems, it was nothing serious (Thank you Boston roads) but it took 2 days for some stupid reason, and when I got the car back it sounded worse than when I gave it to them. We had to go back and fortunately they got it right the 2nd time but ya. The service writer guys were nice and proffessional which is the only reason they get 2 stars. Seriously hire some ASE cert techs. I drive 20 miles out of my way to get good service at Wellesley VW. read more

I recently contacted this dealership to help me locate a particular car. They did not have one on the lot, but Timmy assured me he could get it for me. Several days went by and I didn't hear from him. I checked in with him and was told he was still working on it. That was weeks ago, and to this day I have not heard a thing from him. Obviously he couldn't secure the car for me, but couldn't even have the courtesy to contact me to let me know. I guess he wasn't that interested in making the sale. The dealership is a classical split-brain: The sales department is the ultimate horror show - they are nice and friendly, but sell at MSRP/list at best, and only on a good day. They must have heard about manufacturers rebates, but will only hesitantly give them to you. There is ZERO room for negotiation, and - as such - they are unacceptable to me. How refreshingly different is the service department, though! Fast service (scheduled maintenance within a few hours), courteous employees, that also shuttle you to work (if it is not too far). The prices are not exactly cheap, but you get what you pay for: the scheduled maintenance included a basic exterior and interior cleaning; nothing fancy, but it still shows their attitude. I have had two very minor problems which were fixed immediately under warranty with no questions asked. Bottom line: buy your car elsewhere, but bring it here for service. read more

This is an updated review, now my third for Minuteman Volkswagen. I have given this establishment one more star for the General Manager working with me to make my situation right. Well, more right. In the interest of transparency, after contacting the GM (who had already read my Yelp review) I was reimbursed for a portion of the work done on the car, and the work that was done when my car failed out of town. I was grateful to work this out with the GM. And I suppose if I could give just the GM at rating, it would be three or four stars. But my rating needs to be for the whole business. I still have ethical concerns regarding the service department as well as its level of professionalism. I think a lot of work could go toward making the customer experience fair, equitable and honest. read more

My sales person was such a b*tch , she did not want to help me. She was so rude! I was looking for a tiguan 2015 .. I went inside the car to check it out and I said it's a little small. She said then why won't you go get yourself a 50,000 dollar car. I said for what? I came here for a tiguan and she rolled her eyes at me. Now it's just awkward. I asked the price of the tiguan. She said 23,789. I said thank you but I'll continue looking around the dealer ship and She said go ahead bye and continue to play on her computer. My wife dropped me off yesterday to look at the 2014 Passat TDIs. My lease on my 2012 Jetta is up next summer, but I was thinking of trading before the 2015 TDIs come out. When I spoke to the salesperson and asked her if I could test drive the 2014 Passat TDI, she said flat out: "NO." When I asked why, she told me that "they only had 4 and couldn't afford to put miles on it". As soon as she knew I wasn't going to buy that day the service seemed to go out the window. I was furious and walked out. That next business day I called the sales manager and told him how I felt about the whole thing and Jamie apologized profusely. He was truly sorry. And promised that if I came back he would make sure I got what I wanted. If I could I would give just the salesperson 1 star because the service department and the manager are great. I've had so many issues with this dealership and I'm genuinely upset at this point. The biggest and most current issue, is that about 4 mo ago, I had my car, which I bought used from them about 1/1.5 yrs ago, towed in. A voltage light came on, followed by the battery light at which point the car died and completely stopped running WHILE I was driving it on the highway, during rush hour. It was absolutely terrifying. Triple AAA hadn't left a note as I had asked, so the service department at Minuteman tested the battery, not knowing the car had died while running. They were under the impression it had just failed to start. When I explained the situation to them the next day, they were still adamant that it just needed a new battery. So they replaced it and I took my car home. Here I am 4 months later, and the same damn thing just happened, again on the highway at night during rush hour. So clearly, it isn't just a battery issue and it's also pretty damn dangerous for a car to just die while running. I paid over $200 for what I could have had done for $80 at an auto parts shop, with same crappy result of ending right back up with the same problem. I honestly want to report them to the better business bureau at this point. The first time obviously wasn't their fault, but they clearly overlooked something for it to happen again. It's an absolutely HUGE safety concern given what the initial situation was. Cars that randomly stop running in the middle of the road, particularly the highway, can cause major accidents and serious injuries. The problem should have been looked into more extensively. When I first bought the car, I had to bring it immediately back for an oil change, which means they didn't check it before selling it, and now I wonder if they did a proper inspection at all before letting off the lot. The last time I brought it in, my phone charger was also taken out of my car. It sounds petty, but on top of everything else, it just makes me even more frustrated with this place. Just a lot of negative experiences from small to big. I called and spoke with a manger tonight and I mentioned the phone charger. I had initially blown it off and planned on just not using their service department again. But I was feeling so irritated after the car dying again tonight, that mentioned it and the managers response was "Well that's really weird, because we service 30+ cars a day and I've never heard that before." Why would I lie about something as petty as a phone charger being taken? I understand people being defensive of their employees, but come on. I'm having my car towed to a different dealership, and I am NEVER using this dealership again, or any dealership with the same owner. Planning to buy a new car in about 6 mo and I look forward to a better experience elsewhere. read more

I am in the market for 2 VWs; One TIGUAN and one GTI Dropped in to Minuteman VW today; after spending a good 20 minutes in the lot and another 10 minutes inside no one seemed to be interested in talking to me...I mean no one was available at all in the sales dept to even ask...looks like business is so good that they dont have time for new customers! The service here in unlike any other I've encountered. The general manager was extremely helpful and assisted me in finding an awesome 2012 Passat with incredible terms. I have no complaints. I also leased a Jetta from them previously, and I don't know why many people wrote bad reviews on their service department. They are quick, very efficient, and did a fantastic job anytime my car needed to go to the shop. Maybe I'm comparing this to the horrible service I recieved from another VW dealership I went to once (ahem... Wellesley) because it was on the way. I would say ignore these naysayers and definitely buy/lease/get serviced from here. read more

Took my Jetta here today for an oil change. Needed to be driven to work early and picked up at lunch to come back to get the car so the round trip ride was arranged. The service dept worked to get me processed quickly which I really appreciated. I know sometimes dealerships get bad raps from things but I going to give this one a very positive review because I've purchased 3 VWs from them and they have always tried to treat me right and give me the best deal. read more

My parents have purchased two cars here when they lived in MA and I have purchased two cars here as well. The staff is always friendly, and the service department is always knowledgable. As with any car purchase there are always going to be less than ideal, yet the sales person we had (Charles) was a delight and fought for us tooth and nail. Though we could not get into the car we really wanted, we were made a fantastic offer on a car that turns out to be one of the favorites we have ever had. I am pleased with this little outpost in Bedford and will continue to buy my VWs from them in the future. Areas of Improvement: less of a gang-up when presenting the back office finances, a little more clarity on terms, focus on being a little more detailed oriented when writing down information and delivering the car (we were delayed in receiving the car because of a dealership clerical error - it happens, but it shouldn't have). The worst experience ever. Don't make a deal with these people ever! They will use petty sales techniques, cheap tricks, and false promises to get you where they want and get to your pocket. I had a really good deal with Mazda, so I sent a respectful email to Minuteman VW saying that I was not going to go with their offer and I was going with a competitor. They reacted with a new offer and convinced me to cancel the other deal I had, which I was not very comfortable with. As soon as I did that and sent them the required documents, they had second thoughts on the price, and changed the model of the car we agreed upon, and made it sound like I did not understand them correctly, when I have clear emails for their offer!!! read more

Far and away the best car buying experience ever. I came in to drive the Golf and GTI and the sales associate (Joe) was a true GTI enthusiast. He took me and on another night, my wife, on test drives. It was no-pressure, fun and the sales manager came right down to my price quickly. Haven't had the experience with service (yet) but I'm looking forward to it. The service department is excellent. My 2009 GTI started failing on the highway and smelled like coolant. I was driving home and called them for a last-minute appointment. They took my car in right away, didn't charge me for a few extras that the warranty didn't cover, and even comped a loaner car for a few days, since I was a new customer. The service Reps are super friendly, helpful, honest, and efficient. I can't say enough good things about them. Most people who live in the Boston area seem to think watertown will be convenient for a drop off. Think "rip-off" instead. These guys are worth going a few extra miles for. Even if you pay for a loaner, you will still save compared to the fees in Watertown. I will be bringing my car here from now on. read more

No negotiating? No thank you. I was very disappointed with how little professionalism this place presented me. No one wanted to approach me, maybe because I am young, but hey I came to spend money and clearly they didn't want any of it. Eventually I got someone to show me the car I came to look at and she was incredibly rude, didn't let me look under the hood (RED FLAG), kept diverting my attention when I was scanning the outside of the car, to show me the trunk and the back seats of the car, and absolutely refused to negotiate the price with me. Not even a penny. It was very disappointing. The vehicle CLEARLY needed new breaks, had rust, and didn't sound great. When I started negotiating, the woman said it was probably not negotiable, asked how much my bank loan was for, and then got her 'manager' was was wearing street clothes, a sloppy dirty beanie, and just looked filthy. He handed me a piece of paper with numbers on it that I could have made in Microsoft Word in 5 minutes. He was saying the price of the car was what it was on that paper and they couldn't negotiate it. That paper meant nothing to me. I left. read more

Bought a GTI here. The price was okay but the sales people know nothing about the cars. I asked what was included in the performance pack. Just 10 more hp you wouldn't even notice the difference was the answer. Maybe they had more stock without the performance pack. But the performance pack comes with a limited slip diff which the car desperately needs. Now I am stuck with a car I hate driving spin the wheels all day long. read more

I know that everyone is on their "review kicks" lately - So I figured I would make it a point to write about a GREAT experience, not just about something NEGATIVE.. I was very misinformed about the VW brand, I was wrong to assume it would be out of my budget - come to find out it was a better fit for me than I had thought! I worked with Jamie & he was extremely knowledgeable and friendly through out the entire process. He listened to my wants & needs with this big decision/purchase. He really went above and beyond and that is very hard to find these days in the customer service world. I would highly recommend doing business with Jamie. Worst Volkswagen service department within driving distance. Generally their staff is poorly trained, their systems are not kept up to date, and management does not prioritize customers. 1) They don't honor warranty claims and charge you. I brought my Touareg in because the memory seats did not work in Oct 2019. They basically took it for 5 minutes and said that it was now working, so no issue. Within a month they were not working again. (It turns out that they likely canceled the error code and it started working). While in KY for vacation, some work was done on the car by another VW dealer and they told me about an error code for the memory seat and the need to have it looked at when I got home. I called Minuteman to get an appointment (~3 weeks later). Even though the issue was reported twice to two VW dealers while the car was under warranty, the car had 36.5k miles at the time of the visit, so even though they told me it was a warranty repair at drop off and I did not approve any non-warranty work; they forced me to pay $139 before releasing the car. The manager was told of the situation and instructed the staff to charge me fully. 2) Decided to get an oil change when I made the appointment since it was there anyway. On the phone, I was told $108 which is high versus Sullivan tire, but it was convenient. When I arrived, I was told the car was scheduled for the 40k service for $300-400 which I had not authorized and when i refused that, they told me the oil change was $169 for a Touareg. 3) They tell you that you will get email to confirm and remind about your appointments like every reasonable business does, but I got nothing. 4) And finally, the dieselgate settlement requires VW dealers to provide a diesel emissions additive at no charge, but in stead of taking the time to give me $5 of diesel additive while the care was there, they told me that it was only available for free in between scheduled service intervals (which by the way I qualified for at this appointment). I would never use this dealer again, when other local VW dealers are so so much better. read more

I purchased tires from Volkswagen and I purchased the warranty. The other day I went into the store at about 1pm after running over something on the highway. I heard a thump thump in one of my tires. I was told I was imaging it and that everything was fine. I was also told they didn't have time to check it out. I went next door to Sullivan tire and they found a bolt in my tire. Will never so old with this dealership again. read more
