Larin automotive is a fantastic shop to work with. Their staff are all incredibly friendly and communicative, and their techs are absolute experts. I do most of my own work on my car, but for the stuff I can't do, Larin is the only shop I'll use. I drive 45min out of my way to work with them. I could not be more pleased with my buying experience at Larin Automotive. I dealt mostly with Bob but also got to meet the owner, Victor Larin and he certainly lived up to the way he was described on the reviews. Bob was fantastic to deal with. I had been shopping for a Jeep for my son for six months. Six months seemed like plenty of time until a pandemic hit. I looked at over 500 Jeep's, many from other states. Finally I landed on this Jeep at a small dealership in Norwood, MA. The price seemed high but the ratings about the dealer were excellent! Something didn't make sense. UPDATE: Unfortunately our initial experience with Larin was overshadowed with some disturbing post-purchase issues with our auto and LA. A few short months after purchasing our 'excellent condition' Chevy Silverado, signs of previous bodywork began to reveal itself with the observation of significant rust on the rear wheelwells of our vehicle. I am not an autobody expert yet it seems like the truck we bought had some cosmetic enhancements to boost it's value. When our family was shopping for a truck we were looking for a specific vehicle with low mileage, sound body, and a long term investment as we keep our vehicles for the long haul. To our surprise when we raised the rust issues with LA the response was that we purchased a Work Truck and that these cosmetic issues are expected... I beg to differ. When we purchased the truck we were explicit and trusting of LA, since we were out of state buyers, that we wanted to know the true condidtion of the vehicle. We even, after getting assurances from LA about the soundness of the vehicle, felt comfortable enough to purchase the vehicle for FULL list price, sight unseen, based upon LA's reputation and presentation of the Silverado's condition. In fairness to LA, I did receive a call from salesman yet once again was told that I bought a 'work' truck... really? The model may be referred to as a work truck BUT what I was shopping for and bought was a vehicle, once again based upon, low mileage, sound body, and a long term investment. Due to some health issues I have not pursued my continued vehicle issue with LA yet would have expected they could have followed up with some amenable resolution. INITIAL RECCO: We had the wonderful experience of purchasing the truck that we have been searching for quite some time; when we were connected with Larin via a vehicle search. Bob was super responsive with his follow-up to our questions regarding the vehicle. We are out of state and bought the vehicle sight unseen yet Bob was able to provide us photos, video, and detailed responses to all of our typical queries that come with buying a vehicle that you can touch, feel, and kick the tires. The paperwork process was seamless with Bob's acumen dealing with banks and insurance folks. The whole transaction took less than 10 days from first call to vehicle pick-up and it would have been half that IF bank funds transfer was quicker. First off, AAA sends their desperate customers with broken down cars to Larin Auto - they say you get a 2 year warranty. If $$ is no object, I am sure this is a great place. Well, they gave us an estimate of $2400 for an old car. We got it fixed somewhere else for $1000 but had to pay to have it towed out of there. And Larin charged us for their estimate. Maybe they are good at repairing cars, but they have a deal going with AAA. So you pay extra for the 2 year warranty and for whatever kickback they are giving AAA. Nothing is for free. They are working on so many cars- it is like a factory over there. With an old car that you don't want to put a lot of $$ into - run don't walk away from Larin Auto. read more

Let's get straight to the point, Victor is one of the most honest mechanics I have ever dealt with. Now let's lay out the story. I'm in my 50s, I grew up relatively poor, but lacked for nothing. My brothers and I always had a car that we work on and learned on, so I understand the mechanics of an automobile. But now I'm all grown up and can afford, and frankly don't have the time to work on my own vehicle. Last year I blew the engine in my Jeep and knew that I wanted to keep it. It's my pride and joy! After doing a little research and considering do it myself I asked Larin Automotive to look at it and quote me a price. First off they were less expensive than the dealer and several other shops and I've always been comfortable with Victor "The Owner." Let's just say that I'm overjoyed with the experience and the money I spent. I even ended up doing a few things that I'd been meaning to do as well while he had my baby. Nice but incompetent. Went to them with 3 problems. Three visits and $2000 later, I still had the same 3 problems. Took it to another mechanic who quickly fixed all three problems. Even the routine maintenance work Larin did (muffler) had to be redone because they didn't take the time to hang it properly by fitting it into the designed slot. Thank goodness I didn't let them do the repair the third time (for another $600) as what they cited as the issue turned out not to be the problem. I see that a lot of positive reviewers worked with the owner, Victor, who was not involved with my car. But by the time a customer brings the car back a third time for the same issues, you'd think the owner would want to be involved. They came highly recommended to me from a friend, and she suggested that maybe they had grown too quickly and the mechanics that were being hired might not be as good as Victor. On the plus side, they were really good about getting me in quickly, offering me a loaner car when the repairs took longer than expected and communicating what they thought was wrong with the car. I just hope they get more competent mechanics, because in the end, you go to a shop to get your car fixed. Update 5/4/16 Victor tracked me down through the friend who referred me. He was apologetic that he was away the third time I brought my car in and seemed genuinely upset that a customer had a bad experience. We went through everything and came to a good resolution. So after this, what I can say is that I think if you have a problem with a repair done there, you should definitely ask to get Victor involved. Sometimes repairs can go wrong with anyone and I think you learn more about a person when things go wrong than when they go right. So I can say that Victor is a honest businessman who cares about his customers. read more
