I purchased this car 15 months ago. Since then I have returned it to the service dept at Wellesley Mazda six times, and it has been out of service for 30 days. I wrote this stellar review of Mike, the sales person. But when I test drove one other 2020 cx5 in March 2024, that bucked and seemed jumpy he made some excuse of how that previous owner may not have taken the best care of the other. But "mine" was a gem. Well, my 2020 cx5 jumps, has great difficulty accelerating, bucks and is terrible shifting from first to second and now at higher speeds. Mazda put in a new transmission at 30,000 miles and yet it is still doing all the behaviors/complaints they promised would be fixed by this new transmission. The more I learn the more I understand this is bigger than a transmission problem. The car no longer has pick-up and can barely get out of its own way. I hate this car that I once loved. And Mike was either dishonest or doesn't know about what Mazda cx5 are known to do. Read some reviews! Jumping chugging, shifting, accelerating. I'm way out of date for a lemon law thanks to Wellesley Mazda sending me home after running all their tests and finding nothing wrong. So I have a car with a big price tag, low miles and a long trail of service dept visits. This is my last Mazda! Please take this back and fix it or put it in the junk yard. read more

I had a very mixed experience at Wellesley Mazda. First, I want to recognize Laryssa, the salesperson who helped me. She was genuinely kind, professional, and very pleasant to deal with. She took the time to walk through the numbers with me and made the experience comfortable. We were actually getting close to reaching a deal. Unfortunately, everything changed when the sales manager, Deven Brouillet, stepped in. His attitude was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. Instead of trying to help move the deal forward, he immediately started devaluing my trade-in in a very dismissive way and spoke to me in a condescending tone. That's not how you talk to a customer who is seriously considering buying a car. At one point I asked if it was possible to upgrade the speakers, which is a completely normal question when buying a vehicle. His response was basically to tell me to go get them from a third party. The way it was said felt dismissive and insulting. I ended up walking out because the tone of the conversation became uncomfortable and disrespectful. There's a big difference between negotiating numbers and talking down to someone. Dealership managers should know how to treat customers with basic respect and professionalism. If this is how customers are treated when they're close to making a deal, it reflects very poorly on the dealership. Laryssa did a great job and deserves recognition, but the behavior from the sales manager completely ruined the experience. read more

I bought a used car for my daughter and overall she was happy with the car we purchased. They performed the agreed upon repairs prior to taking delivery. Unfortunately, there was some stress that could have been avoided with more timely and clearer communication on their end. I also had an issue with the sunroof of the vehicle within 24 hours after we took delivery of the vehicle. I communicated this to the sales rep and for the first few days the issue was intermittent. I kept her apprised of the state of the sunroof. After a few days I sent video proof when the buttons stopped working again. After several days without a response, I had to reach out again. After a clunky series of communications, the end result was that they would charge me a diagnostic fee to further review my issue. I can appreciate that this may have been a unique issue, but I've had issues with other used cars post sale. In those instances, I was treated with the same level of urgency and enthusiasm as the pre-sale process. In this case it was clear I bought the car "as is" and since it was not deemed a safety issue, they had no interest in trying to help resolve the situation. In summary, I would advise anyone purchasing a used car from them to thoroughly inspect the vehicle before taking delivery. I actually had a prepurchase inspection, but unfortunately the sunroof operation was not tested. I would also remind perspective buyers that how they treat you after the sale may differ from how they treat you during the buying process. read more

Avoid this dealer and Mazda at all costs. Look into the known issues for most Mazdas sold between 2016 and 2022 (and probably newer as well). Wellesley Mazda has a small, cramped lot where I seemingly have extra dings in my car every time i drop it off for service. This dealer and Mazda are TERRIBLE at standing behind their product. A car engine that is well maintained should last beyond 73k.....Mazda will fix the issue but a loaner for the estimated 6 weeks that it takes for the part, that's on me......and if I dont like it, feel free to call somewhere else. Worst service dept. that I have ever seen in my lifetime of owning & maintaining vehicles. How about you save yourself the headache and avoid underwhelming service, inattentive sales, and just a sub-par product. read more

Nothing like a good ole bait and switch. Called here to talk to the service department about getting my computer system of my Mazda updated after my mechanic noted that an updated was needed. My local mechanic was going to charge me for this update so I called Mazda directly to understand if this was accurate. In my initial call on 9/30 the representative told me that I would be able to get the computer updated for free - I would only be charged if they pulled codes to diagnose a check engine light issue. I called back the next day and set up the appointment. When I arrived at my appointment I was told that the representative who helped me was incorrect. I was then questioned about when I called - to which I had the record - but it was quickly rebuffed that "my team is very experienced and wouldn't have given you that information". So it really didn't matter when I called or who I spoke to as "their team is experienced" - why ask when you don't care? In this day and age you are only as good as your word and Mazda failed miserably here - I got the bait and switch instead. I certainly wouldn't recommend doing business with Wellesley Mazda after this experience. If you think your word makes a difference be aware that it doesn't because their team has "experience" and their experience could lead you to waste time off from work to get your car serviced just to be given a different story. I am not happy with Wellesley Mazda. I will never buy another car from from again, nor will I recommend anyone to go there. I bought a car from them and I purchased a extended warranty. I recently had a blowen out tire while driving on the highway. The AAA technician tells me that the tire was badly worn and was wearing away from the inside. I bought the car less then a year ago so the dealership did not even bother to inspect the tires. I called Wellesley Mazda to let them know what had happened to the car and the person who I had spoken to, said that I would have call myself to file a claim. I call the company to file a claim and they told me that the dealership has call to file the claim. So I call Wellesley Mazda back and told them what I was told by the warranty company. Now they are telling me that their service center is by appointment only and I wouldn't be able to be seen until after October 7th. Now with my experience with buying cars from other dealerships, I have never had any service center tell me that they are just by appointment only. You cannot predict that you will have any issues with your car. That's like me calling the dealership and telling them "Book me a appointment for 2 months from now because I have plans on having a blowen tire." It is hard for me to believe that they do not service any cars that doesn't get towed to their dealership because they didn't have any appointment. read more

My 19-year old daughter brought her C3 for service. The Mazda service department said they needed to fix the suspension and brakes. We knew this. Also they wanted to charge her with $240 usd to fill the coolant tank and $140 to fill the brake fluid!!! Also, that wanted to charge $100 for tire rotation, but they rotated the tires for $20 only three months ago. The total estimate was 1,600 usd. When my daughter asked for these crazy cost for tire rotation, Copland and brake fluid they finally accepted none of these was necessary. This can be done at home for under 29 bucks. They came back with an estimate of $1,100. We accepted with a lot of hesitation. They did géneros and after three hours they came with an invoice of $1,600! When my daughter asked they said that the extra $500 was for labor. However, this was not considered on the already abusive estimate. Mazda Waltham service department behaved abusively. They tried to trick a girl into unnecessary super expensive charges and then they tricked her by hiding exorbitant labor changes not disclosed with the cost estimate. People expect professionalism from a dealership as Mazda. It is embarrassing to see the abusive nature of their relationship with customers. read more

This will be the last probably be the Mazda I will be visiting if I were to service or purchase a car. Purchased a car that had been on the lot for almost a year. NBD, it was the color i wanted. Got a less than OK price for it but money was not the issue. The car got large rock chip on the black side mirrors and scratched up lip. They promised to fix it for us after we purchased the car. Written on contract. We came back to pick up the car few days later. Literally they splat some paint on top of the side mirrors. Looked like a 4 year old's job while painting nails. They did not fix the lip scratches either... It would have been okay if they decide to take it back and do a proper job on the car. But nope. Told us its impossible and didn't want to do this. I am not driving this car with paint splattered on the side mirror. After going back and forth, they finally decided to change out the cover for us instead. Like we owe them something.... should be glad we took out a car that stayed there on the lot for a year.... This dealership completely wasted our time and lied to us multiple times. We called on Labor Day 30 min before closing, asking about a specific model and that they had this car on the lot ready to drive away (via website). They said yes and that they had it ready to drive away that day (I confirmed this), but said that they were closing soon so we shouldn't come in, and that no customers were there so the car would still be there in the morning. We got there right when they opened next day, and the car was already sold. Felt like a scam to get us there. Couple days later, we called again because the website still said the specific car was in stock. The guy told us to come in... we asked MULTIPLE times... he put us on hold, and again told us they have the car. So we said "you sure? Because if that's the case we'll put a deposit down now. But if it's not there, we're going to be really upset." then he said, "let me put you on hold... oh actually we dont it... it just sold" give me a break!! We were definitely lied to, and then we wasted our time trying to make it work. Glad we stuck with the other dealership. Didn't feel right to make a deal here for a car on its way after being mislead so blatantly like that. They will say anything they want to get you into the dealership. We had been thinking about a new car for some time, but this is the very first car dealership we stopped at. I was also interested in checking out other brands, but you have to start somewhere. We looked at the 2018 Mazda 6 (the 2019's are not out yet). One thing I ABSOLUTELY had to have was integration with my Android phone. Since this was our first day of car shopping, I didn't know the exact term. I later learned it is called "Android Auto". I asked the salesman if they had Android integration and he assured me they did. When I looked for it on the display screen and didn't find it, I asked where it was. The salesman made up some story about the people in the service department having to install it after we bought the car depending on the type of phone we had (Android or Apple). It turns out that Mazda (and Toyota) do not have Android Auto, but at least Toyota didn't lie about it. Honda, Kia, Subaru, Ford, Chevy, Dodge, and Hyundai all have Android Auto (and Apple CarPlay). Mazda does have some features to deal with your cell phone, but it is either minimal (like cars from 2011), or comes as part of a subscription service you have to pay for forever and still isn't integrated or as useful as Android Auto. Car dealerships have a reputation for being deceptive. This dealership lives up to that reputation. read more

Best dealership ever from service to sales. I never thought I would ever buy a Mazda as my husband had issues with one many many years ago. I had a Mercury Sable that had been serviced by Jarrett Craver for many years at a Mercury dealership. The dealership closed and Jarrett eventually landed at Wellesley Mazda, still able to service may car. He is by far the most honest and fair service technician I have ever known. (had issues with a Honda, Nissan dealership and Midas in the past - typical try to take advantage of a female) Juan and Kim have also been excellent. In 2014 I had to buy a new car and bought a 2015 Mazda 6 only because of the service department. Turned out I loved the car. Had issues with it this year at 112,000 miles so was looking into buying a 2024 Mazda CX5. Bought it from Henry Diep who was excellent as a salesperson - very patient with us being back at least 4 times as I really did not want to give up the Mazda 6. Henry made me an offer I could not refuse. At the same time my husband's 2018 Hyundai Sonata caught fire and was a total loss (he was not in it at the time). He wants an all electric car but the one he wants is not due out until 2025. We then looked at all other options from a 2024 Mazda 3 to a jalopy as he did not want to spend a lot of money. Then out of the blue he decides he likes my car so much he wants one himself - means more haggling with Henry and back & forth to the dealership and numerous phone calls. - all the time Henry being patient and gracious. Will be picking up another 2024 Mazda CX5 next week! But to be clear - it is Wellesley Mazda's service department that sold the car as I have no desire to go elsewhere. Unfortunately, there's not a lot good I can say about my recent experience at Wellesley Mazda. And there are two common elements at every stage of the buying experience that earned this abysmal review: inefficiency and indifference. Whether it was waiting around for more than an hour while our sales consultant wandered around looking for a missing key so we could take a test drive or the inability to find the title so we could take possession of the vehicle or being told when we asked a question about insurance - raised by our insurance agent - that the dealership "knew insurance laws better" because "we sell cars," or having the manager disdainfully express that "well you haven't bought a car in a while, so you don't really know how dealerships work" and "if you're not happy, you're not happy. I have plenty of good online reviews, so..." Basically, they sold us the car and now it's good riddance. So, instead of creating a happy, satisfied, customer who would always think of Wellesley Mazda and would recommend it to friends, they created a customer who will now go out of the way to tell people to not only avoid Wellesley Mazda like the plague, but also the entire Shaker Auto Group.
