Pickle pizza! I love that and I love that they are always changing a special pizza to something a bit unique. Now something has changed over the last 15 years because it is not as delicious as it once was but if you're going to get pizza in this town then you should still go here. The salads used to have more meat and for the price, they should but it is no longer loaded the way it used to be.

Have to get their cheese Bread! Some of the best I have ever had. They are like Giant cCheese Sticks. The pizza sauce is very mild and not acidic at all (good thing if you get heartburn from some sauces). Overall I will be back when I am up there again!

Great pizza! The balance of cheese, sauce, and dough is what makes it so good. The sauce isn't too salty, which helps blend with other salty toppings. Just the right amount of cheese and classic hand tossed style crust. read more

Great pizza, but we really don't go much anymore. The wait time is crazy being up to two hours on the weekend. I hope the new owners expand the kitchen so they can reduce that wait time, but keep the same great quality. read more

Pretty decent pizza place for being up north. Their crazy sticks were really good. The ranch was great. Their pizza was a bit on the greasy side for just cheese and pepperoni. My biggest issue was the pizza is almost 1/3 crust. Why so much unflavored crust? Push those toppings further out. And that's all I have to say about that. Jackée read more

Don't go anywhere else for pizza- I literally always forget to take pics of my pizza here for a review because I always eat it all LOL. If you love carbs & NEED a pizza day, just go here. Or after a long fun day down the au sable river, stop here with everyone & hangout. And do NOT forget their garlic dots. I promise you'll be sorry if you don't get them!! I personally don't order anything else from the menu, it's pretty straight forward, nothing fancy, and not something I'd go out and pay for. So stick with the pizza & dots, and you are *cheesy* golden!! And hey, they have a fun pink elephant mascot- the perfect photo op with pizza in your hand!! read more

Best pizza place in the state! Totally recommend calling ahead on summer weekends, the wait time can get up to an hour and a half to two hours. All of their breadsticks are fantastic, can't go here with out getting them. Their ranch is to die for, homemade everyday! read more

We were in town over the holiday weekend, and got pizza one night. We ordered the Hawaiian and a Special (or Deluxe, or Supreme, or whatever they called it) and both were delicious. The addition of maraschino cherries on their Hawaiian is interesting and suprisingly good. I don't remember it costing so much during previous visits.... 40 dollars for 2 MEDIUM pizzas is a more than a little outragious... maybe not in New York, or where ever Stephen Colbert buys his pizza, but about twice as much as we usually pay for pies in this neck of the woods. I know the gas stations raise their prices during the holiday weekends, so maybe Mio Pizza did too? read more

Popped in here around 5 or so on 4th of July weekend so went in fully expecting them to be busy because they place is super tiny! Maybe 10 tables but could be less! I'm guessing it's more of a take out place than dine in! Ordered garlic knots and a large pizza! The knots were really good and no complaints on the pizza! Because it was insanely busy took about 45 minutes or so to receive our food but the waitress gave us a heads up prior to ordering so we wouldn't become impatient which I really appreciated! Not sure of her name, but she was excellent! It was elbow to elbow in that place and she handled it all wonderfully! Next time we are up that way which is usually twice a month will stop in and try some other things since with pizza was good! read more

My family drives up to Mio once a year to spend the weekend, and every year we come here to eat pizza. It's the best pizza I've ever had. It's a cute little joint and the staff is super nice and they know all their regulars very well. We always get enough for leftovers, and we keep saying that we'd be willing to drive the three hours on a weeknight just to eat here. I'd eat here way more if we lived closer. read more

Great food, excellent prices. This is a hidden gem. Very friendly and very clean. We had pizza and dots. Dots are little bread balls slathered in butter garlic sauce. These are so delicious. The pizza was also exquisite. I am so glad we stopped here! It will become tradition when we are headed to Lewiston or Alpena! Highly recommend! read more

Rating in the middle; I will say that this place is by far the best pizza place in the area, I wouldn't even try any of the others. The pizza was ok, we just don't like canned mushrooms and that is what they use. Some people love them, some don't. Other than that it was a good pizza and we enjoyed it. read more

The Mio Pizza Shop makes the best pizza around. The toppings are always fresh and the pizzas are great. We always order one or two pizzas or a pizza turnover, along with an order or two of dots. If you haven't tried the dots, these are little bread balls, with garlic butter sauce and they are delicious, especially when dipped in their ranch sauce. I really love the ranch. It is much better than any other ranch I have tasted. Sometimes when they are very busy you might have a longer wait than what I would like, but the service is always good and they always let you know when ordering if it will be a longer wait time. Either way, the pizza and dots are definitely worth the wait. Good service, good food, and something we always look forward to. read more

Hate to rain on the parade however the pizza is good not great. For a small town without much competition it is very passable. My friend and I shared a deluxe and enjoyed it a lot. The reason we stopped was that we had a taste for pizza and our regular stop, Lost Creek Sky Ranch was closed. The pizza here did not start to compare to Sky Ranch. My advice is that the drive 5 miles west is worth the effort. As my three stars say "A-OK" Good - NOT Great. read more

Best pizza around! Also highly recommend the dots, mozzarella stix and stuffed cheese stix. We often get the pepperoni stuffed cheese stix and skip the pizza. We've looked far and wide for comparable pizza and sides~ they're a true original and a must eat at when we're in the area! Enjoy!! read more

Such delicious pizza! We ordered "dots" as an appetizer with ranch dip. Our table of four devoured these quickly. Then the pizza arrived. Its the best pizza I've had in years. Lots of cheese, toppings, and tasty crust. I know I'll be back here on my next trip up North. Service was friendly, prompt and efficient. Surfaces and restroom were clean. There were only about 10 tables and they filled up quickly. read more

Made a mini vacation around Mio Pizza Shop. Came up last year to going Kayak and Tubing on the AuSable and found this little gem. Dots are the bomb!! This year the boys said they didn't care where we went they just wanted to stop on the way. Its now a family tradition anytime we are going up north to stop at Mio Pizza. Great family business, super price, great pizza. Did we mention how good the Dots are?!!! Seriously, order 2 of the dots and 1 for the road! read more

Their pizza is fabulous! Every time I go there, the food is consistent and delicious. Dave and Judy are friendly and the place is always well staffed to meet the needs of their busy little restaurant. The crust with butter, garlic, and parmesan is the BEST! Their Pizza Turnovers are so full- it's a dinner for 3 people! Their bread sticks and cheese sticks are great. I will keep going every chance I get. read more

I heard it was good, I had my doubts...but MIO PIZZA did not disappoint. Dots were 40 for $5, these were amazing pizza. Salad was meaty and fed my family of 5 pizza. Pizza was one of the best ever, all starts with the crust and this one was perfect. We will be back. read more

We heard nothing but good things about this place and decided to try it. My boyfriend and I got the BLT pizza and were really looking forward to it... When it got to us, I quickly realized that the "special sauce" (as it's described on the menu) was just straight MAYO!! MAYO! Who on earth puts mayonnaise on a damn pizza and calls it special sauce? Needless to say, I was disgusted. We tried to respectful send it back for another and they didn't even make an effort to work with us, saying simply "That's just how it comes"... Whoever the manager is isn't doing his job. They lost two customers today and I will continue to not recommend them to anyone who asks. read more

Came to Mio on business this past week, and the folks I was working with ordered pizza from the Pizza Shop for dinner. What can I say, it was some of the best pizza I have ever had! Tried a few different kinds, one was a meat lovers, the other that stood out had ranch dressing and salad/tomatoes on it and was fantastic. I hope whatever the change is that you can change it back because Fred's used to be without exception, the finest food in the area, but now is just another bowling alley with food in my opinion.

The eggs are usually cold, pancakes are hard & rubbery, French toast is burnt, and the biscuits for the biscuits & gravy are doughy (the sausage gravy is good). We've tried it a few times and the same thing each time. When we were there two weeks ago for the breakfast buffet... we noticed that the pan of eggs & pancakes was sitting on the counter behind the waitress station for 15 minutes getting cold before being put out on the buffet. While on vacation, Mio Pizza Shop was recommended to us by a few locals. Said it would be the best pizza we have ever had. Well, they were right. Not only is the pizza fantastic, but the Dots are out of this world. We ordered those with all 3 sauces, and all were delicious. Tiny restaurant and very busy. If you have to wait for table, do. It's worth the wait. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Forgot the waitress name, but she was adorable and attentive, even with a full house. I highly recommend this Restaurant. read more
