So due to my job I drive overnights and I am frequently at random gas stations during these hours…read more Typically when you show up there's one person maybe two working and they're not doing very much, the area by the pumps is trashed, garbage hasn't been taken out, the windshield washer fluid reservoirs are never full which is one of my main complaints. This station however, had washer fluid, and the one girl working, at 2:45 in the morning, instead of sitting around doing nothing or taking a nap or whatever, was outside sweeping near the front of the store and as I pull the way I caught her washing windows. This review isn't so much for the actual location but as you can tell more about the employee that's working there right now. Kind of hoping her manager sees this as she should get some recognition for actually working during working hours.

And when I pulled in this morning, sure enough, a gas attendant runs over and pumps my gas. He was a little green at the routine, stumbling over protocols - I might have been his first customer. But he wiped my windshield, spending significant energy scraping off some well smooshed bug. And let me tell you, there's nothing quite as surreal as being half asleep (waiting for the coffee to kick in) and watching some dude go to town on your windshield wiping off bugs. It got me thinking, "hey, maybe there is something to this Full Service thing." But back to my original question, "Is Binghamton a Full Service type of town." Personally, I don't think so. I think people here are a tad suspicious of new services. Besides, there's a certain manly pride that comes from pumping the fuel. But my wife thinks it could be a hit - she hates pumping gas and would go out of her way to have someone pump it for her. So who knows what will happen. In anycase, Full Service gas has hit Binghamton. It hasn't seemed to raise prices, although this Exxon tends to be on the higher edge of gas prices. But it's darn convenient.

The counter has sub slips for you grab and mark up to customize your sub toppings just as you want them, to which the friendly sub makers happily oblige your sub-wishes. When we recently stopped in, the phone was ringing off of the hook with sub orders, so happy they are still so great-sub-popular!! On top of subs with fresh-cut cold cuts, there is a well-stocked deli for purchase of fresh-cut cold cuts too. Gerry Tull's doesn't stop there in the many hats it wears so well--it's also an ice cream shop!! The soft-serve is absolutely delicious here, with many hard-scoop flavors too. And what's next??--Gerry Tull's is also a redemption center!! Bring your bags of cans and bottles here for easy returns. And when you're done??--How about a round of mini golf??!! Gerry Tull's has a fantastic putt-putt course to round out your visit. I can personally vouch for the high quality of this putt-putt course because when my family used to live here, my dad helped to build it. And after many years, his awesome obstacles still stand, still going strong for lots of family fun!! Inside the store, there were really nice Gerry Tull's tees for sale too, and of course I had to purchase one for my dad, who was thrilled to see it when I brought it home, and more thrilled that his mini-golf-handy-work is still alive and well. Experience stopped me dead in my tracks...I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone. The customer service attendant coughed directly in my face, and not by accident. She did it several times to others like she just did not care, or know better. I was so grossed out. She told me I neglected to tell her what type of gas I wanted the first time, and she made me wait an eternity to fix the error. She was disgusting and obnoxious. She told me she was not a mind-reader, and if I had a complaint about having to stand in line (once to tell her about the error and a second time because she demanded I go get the receipt from my purse in the car-making me stand in line all over again), I should get my gas somewhere else. I watched her continue to cough and handle money and serve another customer pizza touching the food with her bare hands without washing them first. Reminded me of the animated bus driver character in the South Park series (bird's nest in her hair and all who says,"Sit Down and Shut Up!"). I had to use the restroom to boot. It was sooooo dirty and germ laden in there. After the very long wait to get my $80.00 back, and a lot of hand sanitizer, I did leave and get my gas at the station up the street. It had a nice cashier, and a cleaner bathroom. The gas was less expensive too. I called the manager to complain about this experience, and I think it fell on deaf ears. Apparently, she "borrowed" this employee from another Express Mart (Is there a pool of rotating scary employees?) I will avoid all of the Express Mart stores for fear that they may all be like this.

The food was incredible and well portioned, and the service was incredibly hospitable and speedy. The atmosphere was also very cute, full of paintings and snapshots of polish landmarks and some fun signage. The Food I got schnitzel with homemade (!) fries and jy girlfriend got the Hungarian Goulash potato pancakes. We also got a Binghamton platter to share, knowing we wanted to bring home leftovers. Before being served we were also given a complimentary appetizer of fresh (very fresh) bread, polish root vegetable salad, and kielbasa, all of which were delicious and delivered in relatively small but satisfying portions as to not spoil our appetite. The schnitzel was incredible: crispy, buttery, and tender, and the fries it cake with were perfect with it as well. The dish also came with sauerkraut and beet salad which was great to pile onto the cutlet or potato pancakes as I found. The potato pancakes were wonderful: crispy and crunchy outside with a deliciously soft potato inside. The rest of the platter included meat stuffed cabbage roll with a sweet tomato sauce, kielbasa topped with bacon and sautéed onions, as well as a mix of three varieties of pierogi: mushroom and sauerkraut, mixed meat, and potato onion and cheese (my favorite). The pierogi were pillowy and delicious especially with some sour cream dipped onto it. The kielbasa was good, very crispy, and went well with the beet salad and mustard. The stuffed cabbage was a really surprisingly great addition too, the sauce was great with the steamed crunch of the cabbage and well seasoned meat filling. I also tried a bit of the goulash with potato pancake and I think that's what I will be getting next time I'm here! Additionally I highly recommend the polish apple pie, we ate it later that night at home and it was incredible with a crumbly blueberry topping The Service The staff were incredibly friendly to us and made sure to welcome us in right away. The bistro does not yet have its liquor license, so it's BYOB so we stopped to get some polish Ziwiec beers before going to dinner. Our server immediately offered us pint glasses for our beer, which we gladly took him up on. We took a while to decide, and the server made sure to bring us water and the appetizer while we made up our minds. Throughout the meal he made sure to check on us and offer us anything we might want. Conclusion This restaurant is incredible and the staff glow with enthusiasm, you can really tell they love polish food and want this place to do well. Highly recommend to anyone interested in polish food or just want a nice spot for lunch or date night.

I never thought I'd be posting a review of a sandwich shop/gas station - I hate sandwiches...how…read moreboring. Until recently. This gas station is located on the corner of Smith Hill Rd. and Front St. I was in a rush one day and needed something filling, so I stopped in here for one of the sandwiches they advertise at their pumps. Having worked in a pizza/sub shop in South Jersey, I'm very hard to please when it comes to a good sandwich (or slice of pizza for that matter). Honestly, I couldn't have been more pleased with the visual, size, and taste! The sub was 3.5 to 4 inches tall!! I could barely fit it in my mouth (no comments on that, please). And, the gentleman that prepared it took the time to make sure the condiments cover the whole roll, not just one side. This was the best sub I've had in the state of NY. If you decide to give it a go, remember that good things come to those who wait, and, patience is a virtue, and all those other cliches. Since it is such a masterpiece, it takes a while to make. Don't get irritated, it's 100% worth the wait!
