After having to hold my…read moreson down kicking and screaming for prior exams with another pediatric dentist, I made an appointment to see Dr. McKee based on a friend's enthusiastic referral, even though it was distant from our home AND he is out of our insurance network. It was all worth it. I am so glad we went to Dr. McKee. The atmosphere is inviting. The toys in the waiting room are clean and plentiful. There are video games for the older children, puzzles, and an intriguing ball maze that my kids loved. The visit started with toothbrush selection. The hygienist was very patient in explaining all of the instruments to my nervous 6 yr old son, who asked a lot of questions. There was no need to restrain my son because he felt at ease after being reassured by the hygienist; he willingly sat back for the exam and x-rays. I was stunned. The same occurred with my 4 year old daughter who was very apprehensive. She was relaxed and calm. The kids were provided sunglasses with fun characters to shield their eyes from the bright light. They are allowed to select the flavors of toothpaste and fluoride and receive a sticker and a token which is redeemed for a small toy from a vending machine in the waiting room. Dr. McKee was patient and very friendly. My son later told me that the best part of his day was going to the dentist. I enthusiastically recommend Dr. McKee and his staff without hesitation.

Dr. Soxman was my dentist when I was a child. Horrifying doesn't begin to describe my experience…read more She did multiple unnecessary drilling procedures (when I didn't even have cavities-- they were "exploratory") and never numbed me correctly. When I would complain, she told my mother I was overreacting and there was "no way" that I could feel anything. I had multiple cavities filled and two root canals in her office with insufficient anesthesia. This resulted in an anxiety disorder and a fear of the dentist that still haunts me to the point where I can't even have an exam without a panic attack -- and the sound of a drill is unbearable. I now can only have even minor dental work under complete sedation. I left Finding Nemo in tears because there was a dentist office scene. Long story short, please don't trust her unless you have thousands and thousands of dollars for therapy and sedation dentistry in the future. I've had two children with zero pain medication during labor -- so it's not like I have no tolerance or anything. I'm trying to save someone from the fate of a crippling fear of the dentist.
