Not sure if it was the owner that helped me, but while looking at the water plants (HUGE selection btw), he was so courteous, knowledgeable, and patient (I couldn't decide which one to get). Rod and Annette!…read more I can't say for certain (a lie), but I'm fairly sure that the good people who run Jordyn's Pets and Plants are not so serendipitously named. However, they run a pretty great little fish shop all the same. Jordyn's Pets and Plants is located on Kaumana Drive, all the way up above the Kaumana Caves. However, if you take advantage of the Puainako extension and cut through to Kaumana Dr. via Wilder Rd., it's right there for you. At least that's the route I would recommend. You'll not find a real parking lot, so to speak, but there's plenty of room in the lot next to the building, as well as on the other side of the road to park. Once inside, you'll find a very quaint shop lined wall-to-wall with tanks of various fish. They're mostly (if not all) fresh water fish to be put in an aquarium, but you'll find a nice variety nonetheless. Fish of all colors, shapes, and sizes! It would probably be pretty tough to run a fish shop that sold only generic fish that all looked exactly the same, I guess... But I digress! In addition to the many (unique) fish sold at Jordyn's, they sell quite a few live plants for you to situate ever so tastefully in your aquarium as well. I mean, really, are you content with those not-quite-the-right-shade-of-green plastic decorative plants? Nah, son. Get you a real plant and experience the upgrade. Your fish and family will thank you. Jordyn's of coures has the other odds and ends you'd expect to see at a fish store. Food and the like. You'll just have to pop in yourself to catch it all. A staff member asked if I needed help and was very friendly and told me about the recent sale and that's why didn't have a larger selection. I did select about 12 fishes and his customer service was excellent. I should have gotten his name to give him proper credit on this form. I will be checking in again to see the selection of fish again in a few weeks. I've noticed a few places sell aquarium fish from home and will also check on them.

Apparently Dr. Ortega doesn't mind employing unprofessional rude office staff. Spent over $1000 just on one surgery but when our dog really needed to be seen to be euthanized for extreme seizures they would not make the time to see her when they were open and not even close to closing time. This place has become a joke. NEVER take your pets there. Another good reason to not use them is that they don't do emergencies.

It took me a while to write this post after my dog died under the care of Maikai Vet. Losing a pet…read moreis so heartbreaking as they are part of our family, they give us unconditional love, support and comfort. However, my last experience there was horrific. I've been going there for years up to now. Besides the fact that you have a scheduled appointment, but end up waiting at least an hour to be seen is a different story. That i can handle and that's not my complaint. My complaint is that the staff at Maikai Vet are so uncompassionate and rude especially when your pet has just died. I took my dog in for a scheduled surgery. I dropped him off at 8:00am and they called me throughout the day with updates. Well, at 6:30pm, they called me and told me to come and pick up my dog. Keana (she told me she was an intern) came out carrying my dog. I am unfamiliar with pet surgeries so i didn't think anything of it. My husband took our dog and was carrying him. I noticed that he had bubbles/foam coming out from his mouth. i asked to see Dr Mina and was told he was busy. i asked her if that foaming was normal. She told me yes and that it's from the anesthesia. Stupid me ... i accepted that excuse. She went over a whole bunch of medications with me. There were so many that i started to write things down so i don't get anything mixed up. She had the nerve to say "i don't know why you have to write it down, it's on the bottles". I know it was after hours but don't rush me especially with so many medications and which ones can't be taken with the other ones. Well, on the way home, my dog died. I was so heartbroken. I called the vet right away and they told me to bring him back to the clinic. So i did, by this time, it's 8:00pm. I was holding him in my arms, crying hysterically. No one, not a single person came out to tell me sorry or give me any kind of sympathy. They did ask me if i wanted to spend more time with my dog, i asked for a room and they told me i could sit in the waiting room with my dead dog. There were other people in the the waiting room.....why would i want to sit there holding my dead dog, crying and everyone watching me. I asked to speak to Dr Mina and was told that he's busy. Wait....it gets better.....i left my dog there, paid for cremation. They told me the cremation place will pick him up within that week. I waited 2 weeks to see if his ashes came back - they told me they have not received it back yet. I waited another week and called again. They told me his ashes has not come back yet. I asked who picked up my dog. They told me Sunset Pet Memorial. I called Sunset Pet Memorial, they guy there was so helpful and told me he has no record of my dog being picked up. I called Maikai back and told them Sunset does not have my dog. I demanded to know where my dog was. 2 hours later, i received a text message stating they are sorry, but my dog was not picked up as the tag fell off. How would the tag fall off? It's not like my dead dog was up walking around in the freezer. By this time my dog was in their freezer for 4 weeks. Does Maikai staff not check their freezer? Question why the same dog has been in there for 4 weeks? I finally got my dogs ashes after 5 weeks. I have not gotten any callbacks from Dr Mina, after leaving many messages for a call back. Nor did i get any sympathy from any staff there for leaving my dog in the freezer for 4 weeks. Instead i got excuses. There should be no excuse. I will not take any of my pets there again.

When we went into the exam room, the doctor brought his two big dogs in the room too, " to comfort " my cat. But it freaked him out instead. So Dr Pease said he would give my cat a sedative to help calm him down. Dr Pease finished a complete exam and exclaimed that his weight was smaller than he thought when he administered the sedative. He said my cat would wake up after a few hours and to let him sleep in his carrier. My cat never woke up. I informed the vet. They expressed no concern or remorse. They charged me a few hundred dollars for this! As if this wasn't bad enough. The following year the office sent me a reminder card to schedule an appointment for my cats annual check up! I had to call them to remind them that they had murdered my cat the prior year! After that they sent a condolence card. This vet is so totally out of touch. He should not be in practice.
