Ordered some takeout on a Friday afternoon, was looking forward to a nostalgic Indian like I used to have in the UK... alas, cannot wish for the same thing in Lubbock. The spices albeit being "mild" were still veryyyy spicy (so if you love spicy food, you'll love Mirch Masala, just not my preference) and the chicken for $20 was pretty much an entire chicken butchered in 4 pieces. Was a bit disappointed as I had hoped the chicken was already cut up in lean pieces, as I'm health conscious and ordered tandoori as it is a more healthy option on an Indian menu. Super surprised how good this palce was. It is an Indian grocery store that offers take out or eat in. I had ordered Chicken Korma, Lamb Curry, Saag Paneer, and Aloo Gobi, with fantastic garlic naan to go! I ate leftovers for 2 days. Inside was simple grocery with a nice side counter where you order. Flavors were great, intense and not watered down or americanized. You can order a ton of different options that all looked great. AMAZING. Better than Tikka Shack if you like REAL Indian food. The owner was there when we arrived, and we were immediately greeted. He offered us samples, told us about how the food is made FRESH DAILY, and told us that all meats are bought fresh/never frozen. The food was SO. GOOD. I've always driven passed this international market and told all my African friends about it, but the day after church that I decided to stop by to check things out was the day that I found my favourite little shop in Lubbock. Yes, I am telling you along for the journey was my Kenyan friend, she was so thrilled to find this store carries all her childhood snacks and tea that she used to enjoy back home. For myself, I found my absolute favourite snack that I've been searching for quite some time, deglet dates. Surprisingly enough they were distributed out of Southwest Houston. Also, I've found and bought a whole case of bad onions mixed with good onions for only $3. Originally, the owner wanted to trash them, but me being a gardener. I planted some, gave some to my friends, and cooked with the rest. They sell jackfruit whole, jackfruit in a can (green, bitter), and sweet jackfruit in a can (dessert). All kinds of spices, legumes, beans, and rice in bulk, and for the love of Indian snacks -- (great study snack) they have all kinds ranging from cookies to dried spicy chips. In the freezer section, you will find frozen chapati (which my friend was happy to find), naan, samosas, and vegetables, fish, and meats. In the refrigerated section, you will find dairy products, flavoured drinks, and etc. I'm a frequent shopper at this store. The owners (the lady) is the nicest, wow, incredibly welcoming every time I go, the consistency is amazing! I wish I could have gotten that from any Indian supermarket I've stepped into in Houston (nope, oddly enough was treated far worse). From the outside, it states that anyone can find, "East Asian, African, Persian, Mediterranean, Bangladesh, Middle East, and Pakistan" foods here, the selection is vast for a small store. Plantains, Jackfruit, Yucca, Onions, Okra, Eggplant, etc. They got it all and for a nice affordable price. Even open on Sundays. Check them out! read more

Best Indian in town. I'm desi myself and have eaten at some of the best Indian restaurants in DC and New York. This place meets my impossibly snobbish standards. Grocery has all the items you need to cook a meal out of Jaffrey or Merchant. read more

Just a heads up--Mirch Masala now has a voluminous, full-length restaurant menu. The food selection is as large as you'd see in any ordinary Indian restaurant. As for the food, it's good. I would probably go so far as to say it's the best Indian food in Lubbock, although, admittedly, that's not saying a great deal. Furthermore, the prices are right--take note, Kaveri! My hope is that Mirch Masala is planning to eventually open a full-service restaurant. If they do, we'll be there on opening night. read more

Would not recommend. Bought a utensil from them which broke within 2 weeks. Owner and workers refused to replace or return without receipt. Also worker refused to acknowledge that the item was sold there when the exact same product was sitting on the shelf. It is not about a 10 dollar item but the bad customer service. This store has an amazing selection of Indian foods and ingredients and bulk spices - like giant bags of spices and spice blends for $3-4!! I came in looking for paneer, of which they had several varieties, and left with spices, teas, naan, nuts, and paneer. They have a lot of hard to find Asian and Middle Eastern ingredients, including a huge selection of specialty bulk flours and dried legumes, as well as many prepackaged foods and meals. They are owned by the sweetest family who takes pride in running a clean and well-stocked store. Please go give them a try! read more

This store has a very friendly staff with a good variety of foods. They have a great deal of offering 6 pieces of large pita for $1.89.

This place was pretty good but could use some improving and one of our bags got torn.
