Looked pretty good online, but has some old menus that threw us off when we were trying to decide what to get.. we were hoping for pizza and goan curry, neither of which were available. We got a samosa chast, paneer tikka masala, original curry with chicken, garlic naan, and mango lassi. Total was about $40. Not terrible. Service was fast. Ambiance is laid out like a fast food joint. The samosa chast had good taste, but was hot which is unusual. The original curry was good, and had good depth. Garlic naan was average. Mango Lassi was superb. The paneer masala was underwhelming it has some flavor but not that usual boldness you get from Indian food generally. The paneer was overcooked but not burnt which texture wise made for a disappointment. Will give this place a 3/5. Not great but not bad. Has some good items. read more

Ordered chicken biryani and kebab platter Description of kebab platter says it comes with mango salad naan rice tikka cause. It came with only rice and the kebabs. No naan no salad no sauce!!! I have absolutely loved Tikka Shack's butter masala for years. I went 2-3 times a week in college just to have that for lunch. It's a cool, modern atmosphere, & you hardly ever wait more than 10 minutes to receive your meal. The rest of the menu looks delicious too, but I crave & look so forward to the butter masala specifically that I can never bring myself to try anything else. My husband however is willing to try more, & has also never had a bad meal. The butter masala, tikka masala, biriyani, tandoori wings, and kabob bowl are great. There used to be a tikka sandwich that was also great, The 2 things that bother me enough to leave a 4 star review instead of 5 are these: 1. Why on earth are the Lubbock locations the ONLY two that do not adhere to all of the Tikka Tuesday deals? To receive this text, especially when the butter masala is our favorite, it's just frustrating: "Tikka Shack: Tikka Tuesday Today. Featuring our most Popular Butter Masala with Rice + Naan + Drink for $11. (Not available at Lubbock locations)" Before, the "not available at Lubbock locations" was not included, & we would consistently try to get the butter masala on tikka Tuesdays (like the text said you could get) in store & be told the text doesn't include Lubbock locations. So unfortunate, & frankly unfair. Visiting the Phoenix, AZ & Austin, TX locations on Tuesdays & being able to get Butter Masala on Tikka Tuesdays was a real treat. 2. There are often inconsistencies with the cooking. We always enjoy our meals. But, sometimes we agree it is INCREDIBLE, & other times it's just alright & not quite meeting the standard we know it can reach. This is true for both locations. Overall, I think this restaurant is good. The food menu has a lot of variety and you can definitely pick something you like. The reason I did not give it five stars is because the wait is very long. Even if there is no line, it takes a while to make the food. But a lot of restaurants are like that. The other complaint is that they often mess up the order. Tikka Shack is Indian food for the masses. I prefer to call it "Seriously Okay Indian Food". If you are looking for an authentic Indian food experience, this isn't the place. If you're looking to dip your toes as a first timer, it's a good start. The first thing I noticed here is a lack of some of my personal favorites. No palak (spinach) dishes, no dosa (but plenty of naan), and no mattar (pea curry). I also think pakora would do well here, but alas none of that either. And to finish things off, no lassi. I think it would be a hit! Okay, I'll digress, what does this place have? Masalas, curries, jalfrezi, and korma. Naan, of course, and samosas. Staples of the most popular modern Indian cuisines. There are meat choices, so if you're accustomed to thinking Indian is strictly vegetarian there's nothing to fear here. But if you're looking for beef, you won't find it here. Holy cow, my Texan sentiments are dashed! The food, while not thoroughly an authentic Indian experience by my measure, is objectively good. The flavors are great and the sort of fusion style is unique. This may add further appeal for those hesitant to try. Masala fries and a Tikka pizza built on naan foundations are great examples. If you just want a salad, they have that too. But don't be afraid of samosas; think of them like an Indian egg roll. Prices are on par with similar trendy restaurants. My staff experience has been fine. You order at the counter and then find a table where they'll bring your food to you. It can be a meal at whatever pace you choose. read more

I love Tikka Shack. It's not quite perfectly authentic Indian food-but it's a good introduction into Indian flavors (and great food,) especially for people that might be a little reluctant to try different cuisines. The menu is straight-forward and not intimidating at all, but, if you have questions, don't be afraid to ask the cashier if you have questions or are unfamiliar with certain dishes, etc, they are helpful and friendly. My only "complaint/suggestion" would be...if you order for pickup, you might have to wait a bit, and check your bag and make sure everything is there before you drive home. I'm not one to drive all the way back to a restaurant for sauce, but they do charge for some of them, so, it is slightly irritating if it doesn't end up I'm your bag. Tikka Shack has turned my family of "timid eaters," on to Indian cuisine. My kids prefer butter chicken with rice and naan, and my fave is southern curry with paneer and naan. Samosa are a crowd-pleaser. Hopefully, in time, we'll convert my husband too! The food was fresh, the place was clean, there were vegan and vegetarian options, in addition to meat dishes, the staff was friendly, and my youngest was delighted to get pizza. I DoorDashed my order. Last night I tried to submit an order and it was canceled after an hour. Disappointing but I still wanted to try this place as the reviews were so good. DELICIOUS. Simply put, Lubbock is not the food capital of Texas, but this is a gem! Tikka shack was one of my go-to-restaurants during my time at Texas Tech. I typically get the lamb butter tikka with garlic naan and it is so good. Their lamb is so tender and the butter tikka is the perfect blend of savory and sweet! Will never recommend this place to anyone as a Indian restaurant. It's more of a fusion fast food joint - I feel. The curry I took was literally tomato soup and some under cooked veggies thrown in. My husband took a korma based sauce and that too was not up to the mark. They say Naan (which is not a tandoori naan, but a pita bread) . We stopped here on our way back from Taos, NM. The last time I was here was 2017. I've returned 2+ years later, and the food still tastes the same and prices haven't changed. This isn't the best Indian food ever, but it's good enough for a quick fix in Lubbock. The food/drink portions don't justify the price, especially for the mango lassi ($4). I've had 2-3x bigger portions in restaurants of the same atmosphere/vibe and their prices were much less. Mango lassi in another restaurant in Atlanta for 2x the size was less than $4 - and it tasted like real mango lassi, not the watered down stuff here. I feel like they're able to do that because the competition in Lubbock is nonexistent. It's still not bad for Lubbock though. I'd be back, if I have a craving, simply because I like the fast service. Also, the customer service I've had hasn't changed - still friendly people. If you're in the mood (and I mean really in the mood) for some FAST Indian food and you're in town, stop by and give it a try. Just don't be expected to be blown away or even surprised. Think of it like a McDonalds of Indian food, unless you're blown away by McDonalds. In that case, you need to re-evaluate your taste palate. read more

OK-ish for fast Indian food if you have to have a quick fix. They were out of Malai Kofta. We're vegetarian, so that cuts back on our options. We got the Aloo Palak and Paneer 65. Aloo Palak gravy was good, but heavy on the sauce and WAY TOO short on the spinach. The Paneer 65 was tasty, but I would not order that as my entree dish again. Not enough food, unless you fill up on rice. The naan is way overpriced for the small amount you get. The samosas are OK, but the mint chutney is sweet and I do not personally care for sweet sauces, typically.
