I have gotten Brazilian waxes from a couple salons before and results were always same; it only lasts around a week before it grows back, there are copious amounts of ingrown hairs that last forever, and I'm out $50. I bought a Groupon Deal for one Brazilian bikini wax for $36. I felt extremely nervous when I walked in there, as I hadn't been waxed in awhile and it's a new person ripping hairs out of my privates, but Mirka was reassuring and calming. She talked to me the whole way through to distract me from the pain. However, she was gentle (well as gentle you can be, really) I was pleasantly surprised by the hard wax, being remarkably painless compared to the wax strips. The finished result was phenomenal; I was hairless for a MONTH! No kidding! And not one ingrown hair appeared! I was ecstatic. I wore bikinis my entire vacation and not once was I worried. My only regret was only buying the single wax; there was an option to buy three. I'd go back every month if I could (I think regulars can get waxes for $55 dollars). For now, I'll have to settle for special occasions. But ladies, and gentlemen, if you need to get a Brazilian wax, look no further than Mirka. You will not be disappointed. read more

I am a licensed esthetician I went to Mirka because I had a cyst and a few breakouts out of no where. She is very knowledgeable and walked me through everything she was doing (she didn't know that I was an esthetician). She performed an Age Smart facial on me but she catered it to my skin. I booked a 60-minute Acne Facial on-line, which was priced at $110. Add to that the 20% off Yelp coupon, and I figured I would pay $88. Well, despite knowing I had booked the Acne Facial, Mirka informed me after she had already begun the facial that she'd decide what kind of facial I needed after she examined my skin. (Well, ok, but some of us choose services based on price and what we want, which in my case was extractions)!) When it came time to pay, she charged me $119, which included the 20% Yelp discount! Quite a bit more than I expected. After I asked, she told me I had gotten the "Age Smart Facial", which I looked up online later and is listed as $175 but for 90 minutes- the most expensive facial on her site! So, I'm not sure what she charges for a 60-minute Age Smart facial, which is what I got- but I'd prefer to be asked beforehand if I'm getting charged much more for a service than what I had originally booked. The facial itself was great, with very little downtime- although she didn't do as many extractions as I expected and would've liked. Mirka also has a very engaging personality, and was on time, but I'm not sure if I will go back, given the up-charging. Maybe when I have $$ to burn! read more

I'm a baby when it comes to pain & I dread going to my monthly waxing appointments. I decided to read some reviews on yelp and see if going to another place would help alleviate my fear of pain... Went to see Mirka based on the awesome reviews, still shaking and trembling with fear of the pain. Before even starting, she already made me feel very comfortable and assured me that this would be the least pain I've ever experienced. She even somehow convinced me to get a brazilian wax (WHICH I HAVE NEVER DONE. only full leg/bikini from my previous experiences). I have to honestly say that this was the quickest and least painful experience I have EVER had. Not only was she efficient with her time, but she made sure I was okay and reassured me that I would be okay throughout all of it. I discovered Mirka due to a Living Social advertisement, and with the great reviews and proximity to my job I decided to go ahead and purchase the deal. Scheduling the appointment was also very easy. I arrived at my scheduled time, checked in with the receptionist who seated me in the waiting area. Forty minutes, an expired meter and no Mirka I had to leave because I was running late to meet friends for dinner. I went ahead and made another appointment after getting an email from Living Social that my voucher was getting ready to expire. This time I arrived on time, Mirka was at the receptionist desk and walked me to the waiting area, as she was finishing up a facial. After 15 minutes and still having not been seen I called to find out how much longer it would be. Mirka came out, escorted me back and left me to get ready. She was very pleasant and the room was clean. She kept referring to my last appointment and how great it was to see me again: As I'm positioned on the table, I didn't have the heart to go into the disaster that was my initial attempt at an appointment, so I just murmured in agreement. She chatted with me during the service, which was initially a nice distraction, until I saw her dip the same stick she had used back into the wax. When I questioned her she told me the stick did not touch your skin, when it touches skin I discard it...not sure who was right, but I'm pretty sure it touched my skin.. The actual waxing was one of the least painful I've ever had. but I don't think the stick used to apply the wax should ever go back in the pot...under ANY circumstances. She completed the service, and left so I could get dressed. The problem came when it was time to pay for my service. She told me it would be $55, that's when I told her about my Living Social voucher and the real problems started. This is not your first time, you can't use that,I have your name in the system, you're not a first time customer, I only get half the money when you use those vouchers, Living Social takes the other half...this went on and on for what felt like her berating me for 5 minutes until I cut her off and explained in detail that her poor scheduling was the reason I missed my first appointment. The icing on the cake...after the barrage of verbal abuse she heaped on me she had the nerve to ask me for a tip. I provided her with the voucher number, walked out, and I have no plans to ever return. read more

I just had to come back on yelp to post another great review for Mirka. If my week wasn't so hectic, I would have posted this review the moment I returned from seeing her this past weekend because she is so good! I finally experienced a facial by Mirka, and believe me, this will be start of many more facials to come! While Mirka has many facial options available, Mirka actually customized a facial special for my skin type. I have rosacea and she used a special green light treatment to help lessen the red appearance on my face. Mirka is very knowledgeable about the different skin conditions and treatments. She was very gentle on my sensitive skin and left me feeling refreshed with an amazing complexion. It has been a few days since my appointment and with this terrible summer heat, my face still looks as fresh as the moment I left Age Smart. I cannot wait to try more of Mirka's skin treatments-- I hear that she will have body wraps available soon. Stay tuned for my next review! When I desperately needed a chemical peel/facial, I searched Yelp up-and-down until my gut told me to go with Mirka, and I'm so glad I did! I absolutely love her-she's so sweet and warm! My session was very peaceful and relaxing. She answered all my questions and explained each step. On top of this, she was just fun to talk to. I explained my primary skin concerns to her and she customized my peel perfectly. With the microdermabrasion, I saw visible differences immediately after the session. Unfortunately, when I returned home, I washed my face that night with Cetaphil and then misguidedly applied a post-peel masque, which ended up being too strong for one area (in-between my eyebrows). It was either too strong or applied too soon after my peel. Regardless, by the next morning, it had started to scab and ended up leaving a blob of discoloration--my area of concern, in the first place. I texted Mirka slightly panicked, asking for advice on what to do. Not only did she stay in contact with me for the next couple of days--but she offered me a complimentary facial! It was the sweetest gesture, as I wasn't even expecting her to do that. The second facial left my skin glowing, as before. . My skin looked beyond amazing and I was unashamedly feeling myself.
