    Chicha morada

Initially the restaurant looks accommodated for a Peruvian dining style. The waiter was very attentive and was ready to take our order when we were seated. The drinks are a must specially the chicha morada accompanied with the pollo a la brasa and the ceviche. It is very well priced for Peruvian food and the flavors and portions explain it all would definitely come here again. 10/10 on the Doug demuro scale.

Yo no sé qué está pasando con los restaurantes peruvianos en BC. Esto tenia cabellos en el lomo saltado. Regresaria solo por los alfajores.

I schedule my appointment around Eli's restaurant hours. Now that Shes open Thursdays I have another day I schedule for. Yay! And guess what i saw! They cater!!!!! Took a photo and they have new menus. Took photos of it too. They brought back the kids pasta!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!! You know I got that! Was only planning to get my favorite dish seco con frejoles, but had to add the kids pasta for myself! Ha! Again I'm serious. These two together lasted me 4 meals! I don't eat a lot but these two meals filled me up 4x. Now I could have ate it all in 3, but I would have been stuffed! Oh and I got my hubby arroz con leche. He was eating at home since I was just in San Diego for dr appt, but I wanted him to enjoy dessert from here. Of course I got two chichas as well, one for the drive home and the other for while I eat my meal. Don't let prices scare you. It's expensive everywhere. Here you get quality and a full plate and very full bellies. You will feel good afterwards, no regrets. Well maybe, you may regret not ordering more for the next day *wink*

Our server was very attentive and I heard him explain all the plates to a table next to us. He was even wearing a Peruvian NT jersey! We weren't that hungry so we shared the fish ceviche and the lomo sandwich! The ceviche was very tasty and the leche the tigre tasted just right! All the authentic ingredients...next time I'd order it a bit more spicy. The fish did not taste that fresh so I wonder what they were using buy overall I'd say this is the best Peruvian ceviche I've had in SD....taste wise. The lomo sandwich was huge! My girlfriend and I split it and she couldn't finish her half. All the dishes looked very generously portioned which is very good for the price point. The sauce on the sandwich gave it a unique taste. 4 stars for now but because I didnt try the lomo saltado and the freshness of the fish in the ceviche. Will definitely return!

Mama G's: Where Flavor Runs in the Family (and so does the Business)…read more 4/25/2025 - If you've ever wondered what love tastes like in Peruvian form, wonder no more--Mama G's has the answer, and it's smothered in creamy green sauce and served with a side of family charm. This little gem is family-owned and operated, which means your meal comes with a side of abuelita-level care and possibly a secret recipe passed down from someone who could definitely beat you in a chili pepper eating contest. First off, let's talk drinks. The Chicha morada--a purple corn punch that sounds like a Harry Potter potion but tastes like the nectar of Incan gods--is a must. I was feeling a bit more adventurous so I opted for the dragon fruit margarita. Warning: it is dangerously smooth. It goes down easy, so maybe don't go down two in a row... unless you've got an Uber on speed dial. Now, the food. The Causa with chicken is like a potato cake's glamorous Peruvian cousin--it's cool, creamy, zesty, and hits harder than your uncle's karaoke at a family BBQ. The Tallerines Verdes with flat steak? Fire. Literal fire. Pesto's sultry Latin lover. The steak's seared just right, and the sauce is so good you'll want to lick the plate (and then pretend you didn't, but you did). Sure, the decor is simple, but who needs flashy lights when the food is flexing this hard? At Mama G's, the walls don't need to talk--the dishes do all the shouting. Come for the Chicha, stay for the steak, and leave with a heart (and belly) full of Peruvian joy.

AMBIANCE Parking: Liberty Station parking--pretty manageable but can get busy during peak hours. Seating: Shared seating throughout the public market, so it might take a minute to find a table. Vibes: Welcome to Liberty Station! A festive area pretty much throughout the week. Whether its a place to eat, partaking in a event, or just hanging out - this is your spot. The area itself is a lively food hall energy with. It's not a sit-down restaurant vibe, but more of a grab-your-food-and-find-a-seat kind of experience. A lot of options around, but this spot holds its own with bold Peruvian flavors. FOOD / DRINKS Pesto (Tallarinines Verde) Chicken (Recommend) Solid dish. Rich portion - huge piece of chicken and good amount of pasta mixed well with that herb-forward pesto sauce (Tallarinines Verde) - with a more creamy + umami-forward than your usual pesto It's a bit of a fusion take compared to traditional Peruvian dishes, but still flavorful and satisfying. Good portion and definitely filling. Chicha Morada (Recommend) Refreshing and smooth. Slightly sweet with those subtle spice notes (like cinnamon/clove vibes), which makes it a perfect balance to the savory food. A classic Peruvian drink and a must-try if it's your first time. SERVICE Quick and efficient--typical of a market-style setup. You order, grab your food, and go. TL;DR OVERALL 4 Stars. Good selections, delicious food, and steady vibes. Good spot for casual Peruvian food while exploring Liberty Station. It leans more quick-service + accessible rather than a full sit-down experience, but the flavors still come through. The chicha morada is a must, and the pesto chicken is a solid pick if you want something filling. Best wishes to Chefs - Fredy, Tony, and the rest of the Latin Chef team! TIPS * Great option if you want to try Peruvian flavors without committing to a full restaurant

The seating can be a little tough during peak hours but there were some bar seats in front of the Latin Chef. I ordered the lomo saltado and tallarines saltado de res. Overall, it was an okay spot but didn't feel authentic.
