They mix the drink right in front of you, and then pour it in front of you. The drink tasted yummy. It was not too sour. It was just right. The negroni was a stronger than the mezcal Patagonia. For me, the Negroni is more of a finishing drink. I would order both again. I preferred the mezcal Patagonia as it was more refreshing. The Negroni was on the sweet side. Showed up here after having visited Fonda Argentina down the road here and wanted to see what this place was all about . Pretty fancy place , super modern, super clean , a whole lot of selection of wines and such , the menu was similar but I thought the selection at Fonda Argentina was just better . We were quickly attended to by our server, friendly and fast guy , ordered up some grilled chicken, after looking at the menu , I did think the prices were pretty high and did. It think that the food matched up with the prices , other than that it was good but I much preferred Fonda Argentina when I compare it to this place, sorry but it's just my very honest opinion. Im giving 5 star this restaurant because 1. We went there from a park so we're not dressed for that kind of classy restaurant BUT they treat ys really really good. First time going here! My family who lives in tj love going here and it was my grandmas birthday so they wanted to go there. My uncle made reservations at 8pm! We got there and got sat right away. I started off with some strawberry virgen margarita, bf got a coke and a tamarindo Margarita, mom got a tamarindo Margarita, grandma and sisters got piñas coladas, uncle a glass of wine and my other uncle a beer! For appetaizer we got the pulpo preparado and 8 empanadas 2 of each of them! They brought complimentary bread which was bla bla!! The appetaizeda were really good the best part of the entire dinner! My favorite one was the spinach empanada and also the corn empanada. I ordered raviolis with Alfredo sauce. Sister got the fettuccine Alfredo and add chicken to it. Mom and uncle got the steak breaded! My grandma and bf got the rib eye and my other uncle got a steak as well. We ordered a chaser salad, potatoes and guacamole as the sides. To be honest steaks were not good at all very dry!! The food was bad bad bad bad!! I couldn't believe how bad the food was! I was expecting way more than this!!! And they knew it was a birthday celebration and not even a complementary something!! Not even something small!!! I had to ordered a dessert and ask for a candle! This was such a wonderful donning experience. Employees were very knowledgeable on the meats, wines, and history of the restaurant. After we finished our food our server Jonathan invited us to follow him to the back room where he walked us into a wine cellar and showed us the owner's private collection of wines and it was truly impressive. My friend and I dined here last week hoping to have a great steak, we were both disappointed. The service, appetizers and sides were okay, but the steaks were horrible. Truth be told if they just had a series of cuts that were sectioned out with a flat price on the menu i would have ordered that. So because it was simply easy to order the salmon and be done with it i went that route. Was it good? Yes, and cooked perfectly might i add but lacked any real wow factor to it. I started my meal with the Salmon Carpaccio that came served with an arugula salad that was quite tasty. Generous portions of salmon, that seemed to work well with the salad. The service was good but nothing special to mention. And the space was well decorated and seemed to fit the mood of the restaurant and clientele. My exploration of TJ fine dining continues. This place goes to the top of the list. Amazing beautiful restaurant. Impeccable service. Late night on a Friday full of the local elite. Impeccable service, fantastic steaks. The milanesa de res I had was just ok - too greasy and too much breading. The milanesa Napolitano was much better. The steaks were massive, flavorful and well cooked. Sides were standard, although the asparagus came with cheese - asparagus has too delicate a flavor to be smothered in cheese. Wine list extensive. They made me a great Paloma. Parking is a nightmare - you have to use the valet. Expensive by Mexico standards, but not compared to similar meals in USA. A great dinner with wine will run $65. I'll be back, but only with a group - the steaks are too big not to share. read more

Went there for lunch after a business meeting and will point out 2 important things wrong with this restaurant and why I will never go back again. 1.) Food-Ordered the grilled octopus, flank steak, and asparagus. ALL the food was bland (had no seasoning what so ever). The octopus was almost raw and smelled really fishy. The steak was extremely dry with a lot of gristle. 2.) Service-Everyone was welcoming and polite but the restaurant was almost empty with the exception of 2 tables. The employees must not have been trained properly because I can hear the managers scolding the servers about how service should be handled. Overall I paid $64 USD for my lousy meal. If you are looking for excellent steaks, pork belly and delicious sides, this is the place. Origen has a very large wine menu with many choices from Baja California Wineries. After watching the Xolos win 6-2 last Friday, my spouse and I decided we needed something to eat before calling it a night. We went into Origen and were promptly greeted and shown to a very nice table by the window. Despite my lack of Spanish language proficiency, everyone was very nice and accommodating. The Director General, Juan Carlos Eguiluz, was very nice to us and answered all of our questions. We decided to have the Salad Cheripan which consists of hearts of palm, tomatoes, olives and a wonderful dressing to start. We were provided a chimichurri sauce and a very hot sauce along with bread to accompany our meal. A little sprinkle of the hot sauce on the Salad Cheripan and I was as happy as can be. Since we were not super hungry, we ordered the pork belly and the ribs for a late night snack. Both were very good. For dessert we were served a special argentine dessert that was spectacular. We also had a drink called a Carjillo which was made with expresso and a liqueur. A perfect way to end the evening. Origen Argentina is walking distance from the Hyatt Place hotel.
