I received with a box of assorted pastries, a box of wife cakes, and $30 in gift cards. This is my honest review of my visit and I wasn't required to post a review. When I came into the store, the staff were confused about what I was trying to pick up at first, but it was quickly resolved when the manager came to the front counter and I explained to her that I was one of the contest winners. The queue was short because not many customers was inside at the time so I was in and out pretty quickly. The store area was spacious and there were quite a lot of pastries on display. The pastries i received were beautifully boxed. They could definitely be presented as gifts to loved ones or work colleagues. The box was gold and red, with a golden foiled design on the lid and a gold string ribbon to keep the lid closed. The pastries themselves were gorgeous. Just looking at them made my mouth water. They were soft and crumbly to the touch. The buns of the pastry were buttery and the outer layer was very flaky with every bite. Some of the pastry buns had sesame seeds sprinkled on the top. They were all baked perfectly. The inside fillings were quite sweet but no overly sweet. There was no indication on the box on what kind of pastries they were so im not totally sure what kind of pastries i received. Some had a sweet tasting filling with an egg yolk or a century egg center, just red bean paste, or just some other type of sweet filling. I shared the pastries with my family over afternoon green tea and they were a hit! My family loved them. The wife cakes I received were very soft, tasted delicious, and sweet but not as sweet as the assorted pastries. They were filled with winter melon filling, i believe. They were also made a great pairing when they were served with tea. They were all individually wrapped with plastic wrap which helped keep them fresh. The boxed was also nicely designed with gold and red colors. My family really liked them. Overall, i think Kam Do bakery is one of the best Chinese bakeries in Richmond. Gotta give them 5 stars for their absolutely delicious pastries.

Just went up to Canada last Wednesday for a couple of days in Vancouver and Richmond BC . But…read moreanyway we went to one of my favorite Chinese Bakeries and the Only thing that safe this review was that Chocolate Cake. That was pretty good and I usually spend around $100 from this bakery, but this time it was under $60. I picked up (2) of almost everything. Pineapple bread with creme filling, (2) buns stuffed with chicken and (2) buns stuffed with curry. Everything was alright. I Don't Recommend them curry and chicken buns. They were pretty nasty taste. I had lots better in Seattle from Mei Sum that makes really good curry buns and chicken. Again No one that are close by near Seattle that makes roll up cakes that are so good other than Richmond or Vancouver BC . Never dried and always very moist. I am sure in California does it that good as well. So the next time I visit Kam Do, I will avoid them buns. Oh Yes my mom said their Egg Tarts are very tasty.

They also have the patio open now since it's the summer time! I've been here multiple times and I love how they have rotating beers on tap. They also have quite unique brews, like chai flavoured beer and fruit sours. Usually I'll get a flight and split with a friend. It's quite decently priced too -- 12$! I've gotten the truffle fries, popcorn, chicken, and charcuterie board off the Happy Hour menu before. All are solid choices. I've also ordered fish and chips before and it was quite decent as well. Liked that they have long and thin fries. Fish was light and fluffy, not too much batter. Also comes with some fermented cabbage which was actually a great to cleanse the palette when it's feeling a little oily from all the fish. The egg waffle was just plain awesome . Compare to the same egg waffle that I got from another dessert place, the one here was crispy on the outside. The inside you can actually taste the caramelized portion of the egg tart, plus the egg waffle is not overly sweet. If there's anything that I would critique on, that would be to have more of the filling inside the egg waffle since it was half filled. The oolong lemon tea was great. It tasted like something I had in HK before. And I agree with the recommendation, it's best to drink it within 30 min. As far as service goes, it was awesome. The young male staff was very polite. He was very patient as well. On top of it, the place is clean and cool. I don't live around the Vancouver area but if I am ever back in the area, I would love to go back!

Ambience is bustling with a cute, playful interior. They definitely need more waffle machines! Still worth trying for the novelty -- the concept is great, and once they perfect the texture, these could be amazing.

Tried their sinfully silky chocolate tart as a part of the Fisherman's Table event at Steveston…read more Gorgeously rich tart that wasn't too sweet. It had a cheesecake-like base layer topped with chocolate ganache and a chocolate short crust. The berries on top were all carefully picked - perfect in shape, all deliciously sweet, without any tartness. Loved the chocolate fish detail that paid homage to the area - what a thoughtful touch. Will def visit their storefront to try more of their treats. The ladies at the counter also lovely.
