Fresh, fried chicken for lunch today!
    Tricia S.

I was recommended to try Miss Ann's by a local, so I knew it was a must for me. My stomach was growling when I was told the fried chicken, fried okra, and onion rings were a must as well as the sweet tea. Would have tried all of those except they had sold out of the fried okra by 1pm! Walked in, stood in line behind the one person with another walking in behind me. Clean and organized set up. Nice customers, nice workers. I ordered, then waited on the side (no chairs, just standing to wait). Shortly thereafter the cashier asked if I wanted to wait for thighs as they were out but currently being fried. I opted for the leg and wing already under the heat lamp, and no regrets as I was in and out quickly and the food was delish! Big chunky fried okra, and yep, delicious sweet (Southern style) iced tea. All in all, the price was good, they were clean, quick, and courteous, and I love supporting local so a big WIN! Go check out Miss Ann's for yourself!

I googled "fried chicken near me" Miss Ann's popped up first. With 142 (4.5) reviews. So I thought let's give a try! The place smelled delicious. The cashier was a bit of a pill though (well. . . maybe 'cause it WAS 105 degrees in Amite when I pulled in at 2:30. plus the fact they must wear mask) so that was not factored into my rating. The most disappointing was the chicken liver dinner . I specifically requested them not to be over-cooked and of of the 8 pieces, and I say 8 w/ a grain of salt, because they were very small, like each liver was actually cut in half. So for $4.99, it turned out to be quite pricey for the amount given in a dinner portion. They were over cooked and 2 were inedible. Not good. The coleslaw was delicious. The baked beans, were okay, smokey, but seemed like just a can was opened. The chicken was okay, cooked perfectly, but not a lot of flavor (spicy), but very juicy. Kudos for that. It was hot and moist. The crust was nice and crispy, just bland. So if you do not like your friend chicken spicy, you SHOULD give this a try. They cook it fresh, so the wait is roughly 15 minutes, which was cool. Because I have "yelp" followers, I must rate is honestly. I will not be returning and I have explained why. (please message me if YOU know a great place w/ chicken livers in the area though!) Miss Ann's costs about the same of Popeyes. The upside for me is that, I didn't like the chicken livers, so now I don't have to go back, and that is a very good thing for my waistline :)

This is one of those place from my childhood that hasn't changed one bit, and that's a good thing. Good fried chicken is hard to come by these days. There's a lot of gross over-breaded corporate chicken out there. This is southern fried done right. You also can't go wrong with the mashed potatoes and fried okra. It's nice to indulge every once in awhile.

The best around. Fried chicken doesn't get any better. Locally owned and operated. Support local businesses.

If you want the best fried chicken in amite, this is the place, the sides are a bit small for the cost, but the bird makes up for it!

Rude staff, ordered on the phone menus is outdated. Didn't tell me how long my order would take. No unsweetened tea. Fast but very greasy.

Great fried chicken. Some of the best I've had anywhere, even my mother's. Limited table space but seems to do a lot of takeout.

In the restaurant business, we all have a switch: once the doors open, it flips. Until then, you're seeing people exactly as they are. This team is genuine. Hands down. Yes, I know, I'm technically here for a king cake. Standing in line for a king cake from a famous fried chicken company almost feels satirical. But watching the entire team sit down together for a meal an hour before service told me everything I needed to know about the leadership and the values of this company. People matter here. You can see why the sandwiches are as good as they are. You can feel why the king cake is worth the wait. This team operates like a family; kind to one another, intentional, and connected. The food is made with care because the people are cared for. I'm not here to review the food (which is phenomenal) or the king cake. I'm here to review the brand. This is the kind of business we should be proud to support as a community. Keep it up.

It has been a long time since we have had dinner here since the food was not good the last two times we had visited. We used to go all the time but the food just wasn't that good. We were greeted with a warm welcome and our waitress was wonderful. They were know for their thin catfish unfortunately they have lost their mojo. The fish tasted of just batter. Our waitress handled our party of 14 like a pro. Most of the food came out in a timely manner they were not busy. Our fish came out but the rest of the seafood platter was absent. When it did come out it was cool. Missing hush puppies which we had to ask for. The seafood platter came with two pieces of fish 6 shrimp 4 oysters , large stuff crab , fries and coleslaw. The fish was mushy, the shrimp and oysters were ok the stuff crab was very large but with lots of bread crumbs and green onions. Not our favorite. The place is beautiful. The owners have really worked hard and the decor is very nice. The focus is not on the food like the family that had opened the place. If you are on I55 stop in you will enjoy the beauty of the drive and their dock is great.

Overall, I'm glad I got to try it. Would I travel to get it? Nah.

The Sunday Brunch Buffet offered an impressive variety, and everything we tried was delicious, especially the tender ribs, flavorful brisket, and the perfectly chargrilled oysters. She came across as short, unfriendly, and overall not very pleasant. I first ordered a Banana Foster's Martini, but she came back and said they didn't have the ingredients. No problem--I asked for an Espresso Martini instead. A few minutes later, after bringing everyone else's drinks, she returned and simply said they couldn't make that either and asked if I wanted something else. At that point, I just declined. When it was time to order, our table had nine people. She took my husband's order, then went around the table taking everyone else's order. By the time she got back to me, she said, "Okay, is that it?" I had to remind her that she hadn't taken my order yet. I ordered the crab and corn bisque, a salad, and the stuffed catfish with creamed spinach. The salad came out quickly and was very good. Then everyone else at the table received their meals while I only received my bisque. After waiting, I was told my stuffed catfish "didn't come out right" and had to be remade. At that point, I honestly wondered if it was a joke. It wasn't. By the time my entrée arrived, everyone else was nearly finished eating. To the restaurant's credit, they did remove the stuffed catfish from my bill, and I appreciated that. However, the entire experience left me feeling overlooked from start to finish. My biggest suggestion would be for our waitress to work on her customer service. A smile goes a long way. Saying things like "Give me that plate," slamming cups onto the table, and appearing annoyed throughout the meal doesn't create a welcoming dining experience. Hospitality is just as important as the food, and I hope this feedback is taken constructively.
