The crew was as accommodating as they could be (despite one guy with a questionable attitude), but there were SO MANY people on the boat, you practically stood shoulder-to-shoulder to fish. Went out today for stripers. The captain tried to put us in fish, but it was so so. (His e-mail today said it was better than it was). Mates are helpful and pleasant. Problems are: too many people - we were about 2' apart and masks very optional. And the bathrooms were horrible (my wife refused to use them). I went on this boat last weekend and was very disappointed. Their website says that they take the Covid 19 virus very seriously. This boat was packed with fisherman. There was no social distancing and no one wore masks. At most we were two feet apart from each other. If you want to put yourself in a virus catching situation then this is the boat for you. We were three first timers out for a birthday celebration and absolutely loved it. We had zero idea of what we were supposed to be doing, but the crew made it an amazing day. Setting up our tackle, helping with tips and demonstrations, landing a fish for my buddy's girlfriend and letting her real it in, then doing the same for some kids there. Awesome time. We always have fun, and catch fish on mrs Belmar. We usually hammer blue fish, but decided to try stripers this fall. The day started out slow with schools of bass moving around, but the captain got us on several big striper schools.. and I caught 2 big 20lb bass! The Absolute worst fishing trip of my life! Although 2 of the staff was nice the cook and another young man but the rest of the crew was horrible! First there was no fish to be caught they only let us use jigs that we have to purchase ourselves no bait was offered! The trip should of been cancelled due to high winds and the water was choppy me and several other people was constatly sea sick this could of been avoided but i guess they were greedy to make their money. The fishing lines kept getting tangled up and or breaking and when people were asked for help the crew member did help but as hes is walking away you can hear him cursing and mumble and walking away with an attitude. The captain should of turn the boat around and given everyone a rein check cause no one was having a good time it was miserable out in thw water. Crew members were a disgust by the end of the trip you can see them getting drunk and carry on in an unprofessional manner especially Michael i believe his name was. I was throwing up most of the trip at sea and when i was sitting down trying to gather myself he walks right by and starts to mock me and pretends like hes throwing up and joking with another crew member. Towards the end of the trip I made my way to the back of the ship by the bathroom we had a couple of hours left in the ship and you can clearly see the crew members huddle up and getting drunk with a few customers telling stories about them going to the "GO GO BAR" THE TITTY BAR AND TALKING ABOUT STRIPPERS AND COMPARING THEM LIKE THE WERE SHOES! We bought a Groupon and went with 5 people. Be aware not for young kids under 10. It's not easy work and the kid won't be able to control the pole. It's your call but just be aware. We Arrived at 4:10pm for a day of fishing. Very unorganized on checking you in but we were set in 10 minutes. It's so many people coming at once that makes it unorganized but the crew handled it well. You can bring a cooler and food and I recommend you eat before or bring sandwiches and napkins as they don't give you any on the boat even though they have a snack bar. Bring water to drink and Eat now not while your fishing. Reason why I say eat before you come well just read on. The boat holds about 50 and is a great time with friends but your packed shoulder to shoulder. The captain and crew were pleasant and very helpful when you needed something. There are about 4 mates and they usually see an issue before you call for them and they fix your hook, or reel issue right away and give you some insight of what to do. Great guys and pleasant. Smoking is allowed so be prepared for it as well as drinking beer. No hard alcohol but on our trip, 12 guys had scotch they were drinking it like water. Well 1st hand from what I saw don't drink hard liquor on a boat that rocks back and forth. Read below for some more fun upchucks of humor. When we were all loaded the boat takes off for a 1/2 hour of driving out to sea. Not bad while in channel and about 20 minutes in you get a feel of what the boat will do. Now just start looking around and pick out the 1st timers on a boat. Either they are holding on for dear life or they look funny. Now Once the boat stops the captain turns it and gets into into a swell, read on, the boat rocks back and forth or up and down depending on how you look at it. Just Let it bob up and down for about 10 minutes and there goes down one guest , then the others start to follow. These Are the ones who forgot to take Dramamine. Don't fall for the bracelet scam or homeopathic oils just take the drug and get over it. I recommend these types of people to take one the night before, 2nd pill around 10am and then one more before getting out of your car at the dock. Yes 3 pills. Get it into your body and let it do its thing. I will be your lifesaver if you follow these steps. Trust me I saw it, had 2 people, who are prone to motion sickness do it, and were fine the whole trip. the 14 others that I witness not take it and puke their brains out for 4 hours. Yes 4 grueling hours of suffering. There is no dingy to take you back, no mommy to console you, you are stuck on this boat until it returns. Where did they go to suffer? Yes into the sitting area where you can sit and eat and order food. Perfect place to dine, having 14 people puking in the 2 garbage cans inside while eating your hot dog or burger . Now for the guys who put down a quart or 2 of of scotch. They lasted about 1 hour after drinking and one by one they went down and started upchucking over the sides. One guy was right next to us and held out all the way to the end, almost . My daughter and I sat there on the way in and watched him and tried to bet each other when he was going to lose it. The boat was heading in going about 20 MPH and He was at the very front of the boat, like the girl from Titanic, and started losing it. Nice ocean spray you think? We just ran. Anyway if you made it this far in my review it was fun but I won't do it again just because of the unknown, will the guy next to me puke on me?. I would be skeptical of any fishing reports they put out. I just came back from a fishing trip with them on the morning of July 26th. Fishing was terrible with a full boat catching about a dozen fish. However, the weekend fishing report I received on Monday reported great fishing all weekend. I was on the evening voyage 8/2 4:30pm. The boat was full. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It was my first time fishing in years. They did not get frustrated with me. I'm not a big fan of writing reviews, but there are a few things that should be considered before spending your money on Miss Belmar. To start the trip, Miss Belmar's credit card machine was not working when we tried to pay. The deck hand gave us our rods and told us to check back in a half hour. After the boat already left the dock, they told us that if we couldn't come up with the money then we couldn't fish. This was pretty inconvenient since they mentioned this to us after we already set sail. After scraping together the money, we were allowed to fish. In retrospect, we should have not gone fishing since it was one of the driest fishing trips we've ever been on. Out of 100 fisherman, there were maybe a total of 15 fish caught all night. On top of this, the deck hands were rude, arrogant, and annoying. What started as a friendly fishing trip turned into an overpriced hassle. To make matters worse, there were two wasted girls on the bought chugging vodka and started trouble for the rest of the people fishing. Overall, this was a drama-filled waste of money. It's your call, but if I were you, I'd choose another boat. read more

Make sure that you love to fish and you like being on the ocean. I tend to get very seasick, my mom and I took 3 Dramamine over the course of 18 hours leading up to the trip and we held up really well. Make sure you take the proper precautions. Our mate was very helpful in showing us how to use the poles and was very friendly. One mate was smoking, and smoking is allowed on the boat so be prepared for that as well. The mates are friendly and provide you with everything you need, just prepare for rough waters and downwind cigarette smoke. And if you think that you are even slightly susceptible to motion sickness, do yourself and everyone else on the boat a favor and take Dramamine. My stomach was still uneasy after taking 3. Probably not a trip I would take again, but it was an experience. read more

Bought the groupon for four hour fluke trip. Staff is very helpful and overall was a good experience (although I would be hesitant to pay full price). Not the cleanest facilities but hey it's a fishing boat. I think it would be good if they provided sanitizer of some sort at least. Had the greatest time on the sunset trip! The crew is awesome and I love that they kind of leave you to figure things out but still make their rounds to assist anyone throughout the trip. We came on this boat with an open mind. My boyfriend and I had been on a different charter fishing boat which was so much fun that when we came across a groupon for miss belmar princess we couldn't resist the deal. The boat was crowed, had about 50 people, and it seemed every 5 minutes lines would tangle because of the lack of room on the boat. The entire boat probably only caught about 3 keepers. The crew was okay. They had a lot of people to deal with and help but I can't say I had exceptional service. They did their job nothing more nothing less. I don't know if we were fishing in the wrong spots or fishing for the wrong things but whatever we did it wasn't working. If you keep your standards low you'll have a great time! Did we have fun? The captain appears to try his best at providing his passengers the best fishing experience possible. I've been on the Miss BP at least a dozen times and most of the times the crew is attentive and helpful. What I like best about the Miss BP is that the fishing reports they post are truthful and tell you what the passengers experienced in the way of catch or no catch that day. They do exaggerate their fishing results as do some other fishing boats. I won't mention any names but one docks right next to the Miss BP. I just wish the cost to spend a day fishing was a bit more family affordable so that an entire family could enjoy the experience without breaking the piggy bank. read more

We had a group reservation in place for almost a month. We arrived at 7am to find a packed boat with our group spot clogged up with random other people. We ended up fishing cheek to cheek even after some of the group gave up and sat down due to frustration of getting snagged up into the lines of many of the 120 people jammed on board. The captain refused to provide actual cut bait, but was happy to take in the $6 per new jig every 10 minutes. I've been catching blues for almost 30 years on bunker bait with a wire leader. Suddenly the only way to go is with diamond jigs, not actual bait according to the mates. For your $7 rod rental fee, you get not even a hook, but an ancient and tired rod and reel. First jig just to get started - $6, and then every other jig another $6. After your $60 fare just to get on the boat, expect another tidy sum for lost jigs, since that many people packed together will assure you of a healthy downtime of being tangled up in a mess of lines, and buying more jigs. The galley has potential, but the surly man running it has a problem with preparing anything more than a microwave mini-pizza. The mates work hard untangling the messes that occur every few minutes, but they should at least have some sort of uniform to identify themselves, as other party boats have. The posted fishing reports are wildly overstated, from observation (and noted in another review). Dozens and dozens of poles in the water with a few fish per hour do not equate to "amazing fishing". The advertised speed of the boat is also misleading as evidenced by the other large party boat from the marina that overtook this boat rather easily after following a mile behind it. All in all, the operation seems designed for the quick buck...tourists, once every few years fishers, and so forth. Pack 'em in and extract every dollar possible. We won't be back on this one. read more

While visiting NYC with my kids we had planned for this, but in the end we realized too late that the location was too far for us to travel during our short stay. Waaaaay too crowded. Perhaps because their groupon promotion was so affordable and successful that everybody got hooked up to the deal ? Probably also bad luck. Ended up on a night with rough sea. Think about it: put together shoulder-to-shoulder people trying/pretending to fish. Strong stinky smell of sea, rough ocean, and you get people puking everywhere. I know I know it's not their fault... but in my opinion if you want to have fun, pick a smaller boat, or at least try to go with them when they don't have those massive Groupon-goers... call them ahead perhaps to check... don't know. People keep catching each other's line only. No fish, only people puking. People on board were ok. My trip with Miss Belmar Princess was around the end of the season, you could read on their faces they were waaaaay too tired and too much 'I-don't-give-a-crap' to us. They were not rude, but far from friendly. Example: try to be nice, try to make a conversation while waiting for your hot dog to get ready and you only get a couple of "Meh" back... I understand Miss Belmar is in business to make money, but to say we had an "excellent day" 8/31/19 is just wrong and deceptive to others looking to fish. There were more than 80+ people on the boat and to bring in only a 1/2 a barrel of small blue fish for that many people is simply not an "excellent day of fishing." and most caught nothing, While the captain tried and moved to find fish, we traveled a lot. 40+ years of fishing, I have never seen such a display of GREED. We arrived at the Miss Belmar at 6:45 AM. There was no room to park so we had to park a 1/4 mile away and picked up by one of the mates in a golf cart. When we arrived at the boat it was extremely OVERPACKED, I was surprised the captain let this happen. Elbow to elbow. If I didn't have my son with me I would have left. Newbies tangled everyone, and they didn't even have a fish on the line. VERY few fish were caught. This captain was going through the motions. It's not because of the lack of fish, it's because the whole trip was very stressful. That's after driving 122 miles, we at least could have relaxed. I was helping the newbies out and could not really fish most of the day. Stay away from the MISS-TAKE BELMAR. A true lack of care for the customers, WE WERE NOT EVEN OFFERED A DISCOUNT! and they even wanted a TIP! read more

I took out a bunch of kids for the first time fishing only to be annoyed by the old timers catching fish and tangling with the kids the entire trip. We didn't catch a single fish . We used their equipment and bait . The professionals need to stay away from the kids and the boat owners should teach these kids how to fish. read more

I've been out on this vessel many times, and I subscribe to their fishing report. The Belmar Princess is kept in pristine condition, it is the fastest boat out there, and speed means one thing, more fishing. Also the longer the boat the better it handles any rough seas that may come up. There is even a rooftop deck for nice days. I have been on smaller vessels, and some of those stink. I mean literally, I have felt like I was inside a dead stinking fish. The crew is always helpful, and although I know what I am doing it is great to do nothing. Reviewers here who have negative experiences probably went out with no fish in the area. It can be hit or miss finding the schools of fish. I don't blame the fishing boat for no fish. The captain will put you on the fish if they are there. Sometimes they are not, that is fishing my friends. read more

When I went on the boat a while back had a great experience. The mates were great and captain did the best he could to take us to where the fish were. Mates were there any time I needed had a problem or there were line tangles. Everyone was very attentive to what we needed. Great experience overall. We went with a large group of military, and the crew were incredibly accommodating in terms of price and top-notch service. We did the 7:30-2:30 trip. Coordinating our trip was very easy, and they were willing to work with us even with some last-minute changes. The deck hands (Johnny, Steve, and Lou) worked hard the entire time and were incredibly helpful. They made the trip easy for a lot of the first-timers in our group...fishing was slow at first, but after a while, EVERYONE was catching fish consistently. It was really exciting! A couple of cons that were also mentioned in previous reviews. The credit card machine wasn't working on the boat when we got on. However, the crew was very nice and just wrote down my info to charge me later. Also, I know the ladies' toilet wasn't flushing (not sure about the men's)...and as mentioned in a previous review, people will use whichever is closest. This got pretty messy, pretty fast. Let's just say some men need better aim... Anyways, I chalked it up to being on a boat with 2 bathrooms and 30+ people...I knew it wasn't going to be the Ritz Carlton. Don't get me wrong--the boat is nice and very spacious (equipped with a full kitchen/food...which my guys loved)...but I think customers should have realistic expectations. The deck hands were too busy pulling up fish and tending to the customers to worry about the toilets. Small thing to overlook when you're getting great service. Also, if you get seasick (or fear you might), take Dramamine an hour before you get on the boat, and don't eat anything greasy the night before or morning of! Very surprised to see others give high ratings for their experience on this boat. My husband & son used a Groupon for this and I am posting this review for them as told to me. I gave the 2 star rating instead of one because of the crew being excellent. They said the boat was packed. So packed that you were standing shoulder to shoulder while fishing and literally touching each other if you weren't careful. They said the other side of the boat wasn't as packed but you were told where to stand so they didn't think you could move to another spot. Every time somebody brought up a line they got tangled with about 3-4 other lines. Again, if they weren't so packed in possibly that could have been avoided. Both men have been deep sea fishing previously and said they have never had this experience before of being crammed in. Also nobody on the boat was really catching anything so that just added to the disappointment. They actually ended up coming back in to the inlet to fish which they said they could have done themselves without a boat elsewhere. Husband also wished they had a designated place to smoke since he is allergic to it and a gentlemen next to him kept lighting up. Again, am shocked that others here commented about the crowding however, still rated their experience high. Maybe because they are not experienced at fishing or this was their first time so they don't know any different? Maybe because it was Groupon related and since it was cheaper you get what you pay for? I don't know just trying to guess here. They obviously will go elsewhere next time. read more
