Happy Hour Menu as of 3/2026

Came here after work with a coworker and I'm SOOOO happy I did! I had only heard of Miss. Toyah's Creole in Silver Spring, so I was suprised to see a Southern Cuisine version. We went during happy hour, but got full entrees, and I had a happy hour cocktail ($8) So, there is a $22 entree meal for chicken wings and 2 sides (instead of the Chicken entree that has a breast & thigh). I got these in honey bbq flavor and they were absolutely delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The macaroni was hella good! The yams (sweet potatoes) were okay. I had the Peach Long Island HH cocktail, yasssssssssssssssssssss! I then got the Rum Punch HH, it was sweet but just alright Ju was an amazing waitress! We just walked in and sat at the bar. Someone's early 2000 playlist was playing. We noticed a lot of take out orders. Surface level parking lot. Free.

    Sweet Potatoes

Food was amazing! We had the oxtail, catfish, and pork chop and everything was delicious! I mean when I saw the sweet potato yams were top 3 yams I've ever had in my life. Might even be number 1. And the servers were well mannered and nice! Music was a vibe. My only feedback would be that our food didn't come out at the same time so I had to wait a bit for my sides. It was all served hot and fresh though. This was an immaculate experience. Worth every dime!

Stopped into Miss Toya's Southern Kitchen on a whim on a Saturday night and was able to grab a seat at the bar. I was welcomed right away and attended to within minutes, which immediately set the tone. I started with a drink and the deviled eggs topped with crab meat. So good. Flavorful, rich, and absolutely worth ordering. I wasn't very hungry but had to get the fried green tomatoes since I was solo. The taste was on point, though the plate didn't leave much room to cut them. A larger plate or extra appetizer plate would help. I also tried the Pink Lady cocktail and the chargrilled oysters with crab. The oysters were a little heavy on the cheese but still enjoyable. Overall, great service, solid food, and an easy spot to pop into for a relaxed night out.

I recently dined at this restaurant and overall, the experience was a mix of highs and lows. The food was truly great, with generous portions that ensured no one left hungry. Atmosphere was busy with a lot of foot traffic. However, I was disappointed to find that a 20% gratuity was already added to our bill, especially given the service we received. Throughout our meal, the waiter displayed an attitude that made us feel unwelcome. We faced delays in receiving our hot sauce, side dishes, and even our gravel, which added to the frustration. Despite these issues, we did enjoy our time at the restaurant, and the quality of the food certainly stood out. But I believe that for a place to include an automatic gratuity, the service should match the quality of the meal. Overall, while I would recommend the food, I hope the service improves for future visits.

I came here for lunch and ordered food to-go. The service was great! The staff gave us good recommendations and answered all our questions. Great job to the staff!!! The dining area was clean and well spaced out. Plenty of seats and a good size bar. I ordered the fried catfish with greens and sweet potatoes. Very delicious and good portion size! Overall I enjoyed it. Next time I'll dine-in and test the bartender drink making skills!!!

    Grilled Salmon BLT w/o bacon

Just okay. The staff was friendly but got lost too often. We had to flag our waiter back down to get more water, When my entree arrived, I had to flag down the waiter again but only saw the manager and asked him for a little sauce to put on my very dry salmon blt (ordered w/o bacon). My appetizer, seafood egg rolls, didn't taste fresh and the seasoning was not what I would have expected, however, the dipping sauce was good. My entree, the salmon blt (ordered w/o bacon) was a nice portion of grilled salmon slightly over cooked but seasoned well. The bun was toasted nicely but dry. No mayo, no sauce, dry. As mentioned above, the manager brought me sauce to help with the dryness and the waiter returned with a to go box and bag... My entire meal was still on my plate and I had only taken one dry bite. A 20% service fee is automatically placed on the bill so no matter how good or bad the service is, the venue made sure they get their tip. The place was clean, but I won't be back.

Fried green tomatoes were good. Had a tang that I couldn't figure out , tho.

Great place for good food. We stopped her on our way to Delaware from Detroit to support black owned businesses. Servers were prompt, attentive and polite. Average noise level would highly recommend.

First time exploring Miss Toya's and can say there were some good options and some misses. The collard greens were seasoned very well and enjoyable. Would recommend as a side. Also the salmon bites were a fav. Ask for more sauce so you can dip them but they had a great flavor and were moist. Had high hopes for stuffed shrimp but unfortunately the cornmeal and extra salt took away from the flavor. If they were flour based would have tasted much better in my opinion. Fried rice also was a little salt heavy. Music and energy was good though. Possibly would try again.

Awesome to see Miss Toya's spreading love to Southeast DC! I enjoyed the times I visited the Silver Spring location, now it was time to check out DC's edition. I made a quick reservation and I'm glad I did because this Miss Toya's isn't as big as the Silver Spring location and it filled up fast! Located in a strip mall that I remember from my youth, the owners did a very nice renovation to a very old building! It has a nice sized full service bar and a moderate amount of dining tables throughout. I'll do a scoring food chart. Ribeye: 5/5 Large and perfectly cooked #delicious Fried crab topped deviled eggs: 3.5/5 Sometimes just stick to the basics. Frying the whites just adds unnecessary calories and honestly takes away from the taste. At least give the patrons the option of non-fried. Waffle: 2.5/5 It was too thick for her taste and she's a waffle fanatic. I knew it wasn't good after her first bite. I did a taste test and at best it was OK. Maybe use a lighter batter?!? I'm no chef but I know a good waffle and this wasn't it. Service was awesome and the gentleman host that sat us could not have been more personable. Thanks Miss Toya's for serving the SE community. Kudos to you and your staff.. I'll definitely be back!!

Blackened chicken pasta, fried pork chops, mashed potatoes and seafood Mac&cheese

Great service and nice restaurant with cozy vibes! I didn't enjoy all the dishes ordered. My favorites were the blackened chicken pasta and the hot honey salmon bites. We also ordered the mashed potatoes, seafood Mac & Cheese and pork chops which tasted a bit dry. Potatoes and the Mac could have used a little more seasoning. Not sure if I would go back but if I did, it would be for those salmon bites!

A Truly Unforgettable Evening Thanks to Erika! From start to finish, our dining experience at Miss Toya's Southern Kitchen was nothing short of phenomenal. Erika--our server and true standout--elevated the evening with her warmth, professionalism, and impeccable attention to detail. Service & Atmosphere Erika greeted us with genuine enthusiasm, making us feel instantly welcome. She navigated a busy service seamlessly, always attentive--checking in just the right amount to ensure we were comfortable without feeling overwhelmed. Culinary Excellence The food was exquisite. Every dish brought bold, Southern flavors with sophistication: * Each bite was perfectly seasoned and thoughtfully plated. * The portions were generous but never rushed or heavy--just right Drinks That Delight Our cocktails were beautifully presented and expertly mixed--refreshing, balanced, and as delicious as they looked. They paired wonderfully with the meal and Diane's recommendations really hit the mark. Why Erika Made the Night * Personable & professional: Erika checked in regularly, anticipating our needs. * Informed & personable: She offered thoughtful recommendations and shared a few behind-the-scenes details with genuine pride in the cuisine. * Attentiveness: From refilling waters to offering dessert suggestions, each gesture felt intentional--never robotic. Overall Impression Miss Toya's is already known for generous portions, vibrant Creole-inspired dishes, and a welcoming dining vibe highlighted in numerous five‑star reviews But what truly made our visit memorable was Erika's service. She brought a level of hospitality that felt rare--genuine, caring, and expertly handled. We'll be returning soon--and we'll be asking for Erika.

Surprisingly pleased but not sure I'll return! My family lives in the area and as a result we tend to visit Highlands for brunch when I'm in town. We always pass Miss Toya's to get around to the other side and we've heard some good things about it so we decided to try it out. We were a small party of two and arrived at noon on a Sunday. The bar was basically empty and there were two empty tables in the far back near the restrooms. I usually wouldn't sit in this spot but I was really hungry so I went for it. For drinks, we got two hot coffees with Bailey's. Mom also got a Bloody Mary. The coffees weren't really hot and the baileys was served as a shot to mix on your own. This isn't a problem as Highlands does the same thing but they don't charge $12 per shot of baileys. $24 for two small shots of Baileys is extremely overpriced. The Bloody Mary wasn't the best either. For food, we started with the salmon bites as an appetizer followed by the catfish & grits and the shrimp & grits. All of the food was delicious but overly salty and full of sauce which makes it extremely unhealthy. Obviously, we didn't visit Miss Toya's for healthy food lol but I'm over the drenched in sauce brunch meals (e.g. Milk & Honey, Kitchencray, etc.). The portion sizes of the meals were huge which is nice but they give you very few salmon bites. Now moving back to the ambiance, it was freezing in the restaurant and we were informed that the temperature could not be changed without the manager's permission and of course the manager wasn't there. So we uncomfortably sat and ate our food. This likely also played a role in why the coffee was cold. Anywho, I gave them four stars because our server was extremely kind, attentive and professional. The host was also kind and friendly. Needless to say, I won't be back. Maybe my mom will but I'm good off this one and done experience.

There's an amazing happy hour deal, with discounts on drinks all Monday and reduced prices for a couple of hours on other weekdays; it almost felt criminal how generous the happy hour was when I've gotten used to paying $20 for a mediocre cocktail at other nearby establishments. And the cocktails here are really very good, probably the best in the area, except for their immediate next door neighbor. The group favorite cocktail was the Midori sour which was incredibly well balanced and refreshing, and the surprising crowd pleaser was the Hamilton Dry Float, which came in a creepy tiki mug presentation that we really loved. We had a couple of the bar bites - the spiced peanuts were well loved across the group but my person favorite food item was the blistered shishitos, which came with a great chipotle aioli.
