Delivered really quickly by uber eats! Large portions for the price. I ordered: beans with neck bones Smothered pork chops, green beans, and rice with cornbread Half smoke with white bread Disappointed with the pork chops w/gravy and rice, it lacked seasoning but everything else was decent . I'd order again

Ordered via Uber Eats and I am SO very pleased to have found this spot. I was raised on soul food despite living in NOVA and when I tell you this place is the real deal, I mean it. The beef was over cooked but the gravy kinda hid the harshness of that. What's not pictured is the potato salad which is pure deliciousness. Have at it soul food peeps, go on and get you some!

I ordered through grubhub & the food was soooo fresh & the container was wrapped in plastic which kept everything hot. I enjoyed the love that went into the fish being as tho I'm pescatarian. I would recommend this place for the fish

    Nasty soul food.

I have lived in the area for over 30 years and have never visited the establishment. After seeing the news story on television about how the owners were losing business because their usual customers no longer wanted to visit the area because of the unsavory elements hanging around, I decided to give them a try. My order was placed on Uber eats. After receiving and viewing the contents, I was highly disappointed. My food looked like slop they would serve a pig Turkey wings had more skin than meat smothered in a ton of gravy. The stuffing looked like overcooked, mushy oatmeal or vomit. Yes...vomit! Sweet potatoes tasted mediciny and being in the same container, got mixed with the gravy and slimy stuffing. My cornbread was omitted and I didn't get my chocolate cake . This is my first time ordering as well as my last time! No recommendations or endorsements from me! I will stick with two of my favs, Henry's Soul Cafe and SouthPride in Eastover.

    Oxtail

I preferred oxtail , Mac and cheese and greens and it was disgusting I tried giving them a second chance and they failed once again. I just really wanted oxtails and it was nothing but fat on the bone .. if I could give it a -1 I would.

I just received my order, Pork Chop dinner with potato salad and cabbage. Im sooo disappointed, pork chops are burned, dry and overcooked.... Always good food from here, but I cant stomach or chew these pork chops. Sad part is, I know the cook knew they were subpar after cooking and adding them into the to go box. Potato Salad and Cabbage were good though

I'll have various # of reviews per year. I moved to Alexandria from Arizona on Saturday, October 15, 2011. As a 27 year old at the time and being new to town, I wanted to check out the bar scene in various places like DC, Clarendon, other areas of Arlington, & the city I lived in Alexandria, more specifically Old Town. My scrapbook series of reviews will likely go into 2027 (but I'll get some done from 8/31 to whenever things get bad for me) as I may not be getting much if any Yelp reviews done in October-November time range due to high dose chemo with stem cell replacement. You never imagine what life throws your way. Sure, I had various issues when I was kid, teen, & in 20's, but pails in comparison to 40's for me. In the 20's, job situation was unstable, dating/women drama, etc. But you never imagine that at 15 year anniversary of being in DC area having to do high dose chemo. My experience at Murphy's in October 2011 & beyond: When I lived in Alexandria, this was my #1 favorite & go to bar. I liked a good Irish pub over some club or some generic bar, although I enjoyed some of those to in my 20's. Murphy's staff was cordial here, and beer was good. They had some music at times and could be crowded on a weekend. My 1st weekend in the DC area was October 15-16, 2011, I was busy with moving & settling in and starting job on that Monday. Following weekend I explored DC amongst other fun things. On the 3rd weekend, Friday, October 28, 2011, I explored the Old Town Alexandria bar scene and stumbled across Murphy's Irish Pub. It was also Halloween weekend and there were some people in costumes. I got a chick's phone #. Her name was Adele, like the singer. Tried to get a date with her but never panned out as she claimed to be busy with whatever else. I went to Murphy's a few other times and always enjoyed. I included pic of the October 2011 receipt from my scrapbook. I'm going to take a pic of each thing from scrapbook as that'll take more time, but I had to include the first thing at the very least. All the stuff in for the 2011-2017 living in Virginia era businesses included are just receipts.

The band was great and the atmosphere had that classic dive-bar Irish pub vibe lively, a little loud, and full of personality. Food was just okay, but honestly I wasn't expecting much and that wasn't why I came in. The music, the crowd, and the overall energy made it worth the stop. If you're looking for a laid-back spot with live music and a good old-school pub feel, this place hits the mark. Glad I stopped in.

While there is limited outdoor seating, I prefer the upstairs since it's typically quieter, and the abundant windows naturally illuminate the space. The interior is also characterized by nautically themed decor, along with exposed brick walls and hardwood flooring. TBH, this is one of the better Brunch spots in Old Town. There brunch menu is extensive - https://static1.squarespace.com/static/68d065ce6d80726524c2bca9/t/6a3d8efe5e4fbd1439f0bc1a/1782419198238/Brunch.pdf - and has all of traditional breakfast offerings of pancakes, french toast, a variety of eggs, sausage/bacon/ham, etc. While there are also lunch type savory options such as sandwiches and chicken and pasta entrees, I opted for the classic biscuits and gravy. I don't normally eat this type of heavy carb heavy dish...but every now and then, it's not so bad. The plate arrived with two buttermilk biscuits, country bacon gravy, two sunny side up two eggs, and home fries. The gravy was nice and thick with pieces of sausage bits, but I found the biscuits on the dry side, rather than buttery and flaky. Eggs were prepared properly and had that satisfying "ooze" when the yolks were popped. Home fries tasted previously frozen and could've used a few more minutes in the fryer. Service was a bit slow as there was only one staff taking orders and delivering food. But he was friendly and would circle back around to check on our group frequently. Pair your meal with a few choices of cocktails (I ordered a $5 mimosa) and Chadwicks brunc h is a great way to spend a few hours on a Sunday afternoon. Be sure to inform your server ahead of time, if separate checks are desired. One brunch entree, one mimosa with tax and tip totalled to about $25.

When our food was served, my meal was missing the side of fries that I had ordered. I returned to the counter to address the issue and informed the staff that my order was incomplete. I was talking to the cashier when the kitchen staff came out and asked, "what's the problem?" Also, with an attitude. I explained that my fries were missing. It appeared there had been a mix-up within our group orders, and another member of my party had received my fries. The staff suggested that I take those fries, despite the fact that my colleague had her hands all over them. I declined and requested a fresh order instead. I was then charged an additional $3 for the replacement, rather than the issue being corrected as part of the original order. When my order was ready, I was directed by the cashier to retrieve it from the kitchen window, rather than it being handed to me directly. Isn't it her job to serve the customers? Overall, the interaction throughout the visit reflected a lack of professionalism and customer service. I strongly believe these women need proper customer service training or not work there at all as they look like they hate their jobs. In addition, the food was mid. Given the experience, I do not plan to return or recommend this establishment.
