I went with 5 kind gentlemen and we talked about recipes, various fish stories, and nautical electronic equipment. Bagged myself a ~30 and ~20 pounder salmon and even passed my third hook to someone else to reel in! After returning to the dock Vince and Al filetted my fishes and sent me home with the biggest most heaviest doggie bag ever! Next time it will be for other fish and crab on Miss Anita once again.

Based off the chatter on the radio it sounded like we did a bit better than the boats around us. Price wise, very competitive compared to other simulator companies. Compared to a party boat, I would recommend Miss Anita Charters every time. The experience and bang for your buck here doesn't compare. No more party boats for me. We had experienced two trips with Les for this species, and it was a fun-filled adventure. Although this was a freshwater trip, I felt I did not have the expertise or hardware to troll for this species. I have caught plenty of trout in Crowley and Convict Lake on the troll, but getting these landlocked salmon requires a downrigger and the ability to troll deep. Les and his wife did a great job putting us on fish. Kokanee salmon are wonderful table fare. This year, we participated in an epic salmon trip at Bodega Bay. Les still operates the Samantha Irene and has Captain Jeff running the boat. We managed to catch our limit of King Salmon, the largest weighing 27 pounds. We also landed some 15 pounders. Again, the trip was an epic experience. As a fisherman,​ ​I have to brag. The first salmon I caught with Les was a 30 pounder! It is good to see Fish On Charters expanding its operation. ​They have a Rockfish, Lingcod trip in the winter. A November trip would be the perfect way for us to end the fishing year.

I booked the "Wohler Bridge Tour" as an outing for my wife and my anniversary…read more Sadly I failed to read the instructions and went to Rubicon's offices instead of the Wohler bridge launch site (oops!) which meant once I got back into cell phone range and figured out my mistake, we were an hour late to our scheduled time. Bill was waiting patiently and was incredibly gracious. He took my wife and I out for a 2 1/2 hour SUP tour of the Russian River, providing tips and guidance along the way. I'm thankful that I came across Rubicon as I now feel that I have both a strong comfort with paddle boarding and better a sense of the Russian River and where we might go paddle boarding in the future. Bill has a great wealth of knowledge and we appreciated his casual style. It's worth noting that Rubicon's rates are incredibly low, particularly given the personalized attention you get on these tours. Looking forward to coming back.

We were in the water by 8:45 today and the lower lot was full by the time we were ready to park for the day. Pretty crazy upper lot where people seem to squeeze in where they can amongst the eucalyptus trees. I needed to write a review because we had the worst sludgy mess of an experience at the end of our paddle today. There were boats to the left of the ramp as we were coming in so we went right. BAD MOVE! It was like sea quicksand. Smelly, sludgey, that wasn't quite mud but it wasn't normal shoreline either. My guy got sucked in to his thighs!!! Steer clear, when coming back from a paddle stay right and come up on the beach line and carry the boats up, worth it to avoid the mess. I saw what was happening to him and stayed right as much as I could and didn't get caught as bad but that whole right side of the launch ramp when facing the shore with Nick's Cove to your left us a nightmare. Trust me, lol. Otherwise, the water is AMAZING out there! Not too busy, plenty of books to explore, wildlife, just an incredible day on the water! We've done a bioluminescent tour at night before and in the right ambient light it's a great spot to catch the phenomenon.

Boaters can park overnight, which makes Miller an excellent access point for visitors seeking overnight camping or boating adventures in Tomales Bay (with a permit) and the surrounding Point Reyes seashore. (There is no camping at Miller.) Anglers can fish for striped bass, perch, rock fish, halibut, salmon, and crab. The dock and parking are accessible. Dogs are allowed on leash. Two gender neutral bathrooms are provided, but were very busy the weekend I was there. Plan ahead. Parking is $5/day (payable at a kiosk), but FREE on the first Saturday of the month thanks to Measure A. Alternatively, a free pass which hangs from your rear view mirror can be borrowed providing you have a library card from the Marin County Free Library which is easy and free to acquire if you are a CA resident. When the weather is good and the water is calm, expect parking on the lower level and upper level to be challenging. Waiting for someone to leave may take some time. During the Labor Day Weekend, fishermen were catching halibut, but unlucky fishermen caught nothing or bat rays or nurse sharks so make sure to not have a barbed hook. More experienced kayak fishermen were equipped with a red flag and told us that they caught their own bait first. If you head out to the ocean, there's a lot of eel grass that can jam up you pedals. Kayaking away from the ocean affords you a smoother ride.

What an awesome shop packed with amazing customer service (thx JP and Mike (I hope I got that…read moreright)), and of course, anything you need to get yo' fish on! (Or in my case, crab on!) After a brutal day of work (BOOOOOOOO!!) I decided to treat myself to some retail therapy (YAAAAAASSSS!!). And, I'm so glad I did! I certainly left with my hands full and a smile on my face. Newly exposed to shore crabbing, I couldn't wait to get some crabbing gear. I wanted to shop n support local so I gave North Bay Fishing Tackle a visit. I was kindly greeted as soon as I walked in and was asked if there was anything I needed help with (love that). I got straight to the point and I was guided to their combo rod n reel for crabbing. Not only was it a combo rod n real, but it also included a crab snare and fishing line for a really, really reasonable price. I can't forget to mention that the line was already spooled on the reel. Internally, my jaw dropped to the floor, and my internal dialogue screamed, "TAKE MY MONEY!" The icing on top... two super cool dudes that were happy to assist and they have a store pet fish, Salmon Roe (I also hope I got that right). Forget those big named stores for your fishing supplies and support local! You won't regret it!
