We passed by this place many times driving through town and finally decided to stop and try it out. We are BIG fans of BBQ and this place did not disappoint. From the service to the food, this restaurant is top tier. I had the 2 meat sample with Pulled pork and brisket and it was mouth watering delicious. To top it all off we had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Leslie who catered to us to no end. (she needs a raise!!!) She brought us a basket of freedoms fries to try along with their delicious cherry cheese cake dessert as a free accommodation that is usually reserved for veterans! WOW! I was totally blown away today with Mission BBQ's Brisket Meat Market Plate!!! This is definitely THE BEST brisket I have had in ALL of Murfreesboro. And I love the way they leave just a sliver of the fat on the brisket too. I cannot stand fat on any other piece of meat, but for some reason brisket just isn't brisket, without a little bit of fat along the edge. And the variety of BBQ sauces was wonderful. My two favorites were the Mississippi Honey Heat and the Smokey Mountain. The Texas was excellent too. What am I saying? They were all very good! I even added some of the Mississippi Honey heat to my BBQ beans and liked them up a notch. I also have to give props to Mission BBQ for supporting our troops! This is a place with some SOLID BBQ along with exceptional customer service and support for our Military and First Responders'. Personally...I prefer the moist brisket but you have the option for lean or moist...you just have to ask. Along with the meat their sides are really good with Maggie's Mac-N-Cheese my favorite along with a healthy portion of "Freedom Fries". Wow! Mission was tremendous! We were driving from Georgia back to Missouri this weekend and we were looking for a place to pick up some barbecue to take home. Are we glad we found Mission barbecue! The baby back ribs were perfectly seasoned and had great smoked flavor without being overwhelming. They were tender and meaty. The beef brisket had the most incredible bark and depth of smoky flavor. I'm not a big barbecue sauce person as I prefer just the smoked seasoned meat, but they also had a wide variety of sauce options that we enjoyed. The chicken was similarly delicious. The cornbread was moist and had an outstanding texture. So glad we found this place. read more

I stopped in at Mission BBQ on Gunbarrel Rd in Chattanooga for lunch today, expecting to order a hamburger. But when I saw Baby Back Ribs, I abruptly changed my mind. I've been looking for a good or (preferably) great BBQ place since I moved here 4 years ago. Looks like I've found it! Baby back ribs were EXCELLENT! Very meaty, and covered in delicious BBQ goodness. I did add some of their Georgia Gold sauce (mustard based), just because. Their green beans were good, but the mac & cheese was OUTSTANDING! When I picked up my order, the gentleman behind the counter said something about "will bring your dessert out to you". I hadn't ordered a dessert, so I was a bit confused. A little later, a delightful woman server brought me a bit of the best blueberry bread pudding I've ever put in my mouth. WOW. Never tasted anything like it. I'll go back just for that! I love this place. BBQ sauces of all kinds and savory meats! A little heavy on the seasoning, but it comes with the territory! Finger licking good, no complaints! Also, I didn't know the concept of the restaurant until I walked in. There is so much respect for our men and women in the service there. If you enjoy old time feels and vintage treasures, you will enjoy looking around while eating your yummy food. Another fun thing I noticed, is the fact that you can get glass bottled soft drinks! New to the area so first time trying Mission BBQ. The food was delicious, the staff were superb, and it was so great to see all of the amazing pictures of our brave soldiers. 3.5 mediocre. You just stand in line, order your food, and wait for them to give you your food, and you go pick a seat and sit down. They have beer. I thought the prices were pretty good. I liked how they have different sauces to try on the table. I tried the turkey, pulled chicken, sausage, fries, and green beans. The meats were pretty average. I thought their classic sausage was pretty good. Our fries came out just warm and soggy so I'm not sure how to rate that. Well, the food came out warm and came out right away. It didn't taste hot. Great service, the restaurant is always sparkling clean, and I LOVE their support of first responders and the military. The BBQ could be better though... The big problem here is not the quality of the meat or anything, it's that they cook too high and fast using white oak. The oak is important because while it's affordable and burns fairly consistently, it's not a wood that imparts much flavor to BBQ. Hickory or mesquite would be much better choices. Even then, you have to cook low enough to impart smoke flavor. They're cooking high and fast, presumably to keep up with demand. The ribs are the worst on their menu. I'd give them a 3 out of 5. Flavor is decent, but they're overcooked to death. It's beyond just falling off the bone. Competition standards for BBQ is the meat should come away from the bone with a gentle pull. The turkey and brisket are both good, but a little dry. The half chicken is probably the best meat on the menu, and even it was a little overcooked last time. The sides; all pretty darned good IMO. Contrary to a previous review, the Mac and Cheese is the best I've had at a restaurant. Baked beans are good; NOT sickeningly sweet like some store bought stuff, etc... At roughly $15 a plate, Mission is half of what some of the other BBQ places in town charge also, so the value is solidly there. Could it be a little better?
