I looked at the reviews and knew I had to give it a try. When we arrived, my wife and I were quickly seated by the Host. And then we waited. And waited. About 10 min later, I told the Host that we had not seen a waitress yet. He was apologetic and promised to find them for us. A few minutes later, the Waiter showed up and took our orders. I fully planned to order the beef ribs, but the cost of $38 was so far outside the norm that I just couldn't do it. (They actually have a sampler platter that costs $66!!) I ended up ordering the half BBQ chicken, BBQ beans and potato salad. My wife ordered the pulled pork platter, sweet potato fries and Mac & Cheese. Both orders came out quickly, but the first thing I noticed about my dinner was that I was having to 'saw' my chicken to eat it. Most BBQ chicken I have ordered at other restaurants is tender to falling apart. But this one definitely fought back, and though the flavor was not bad, I kept having to add the table-side BBQ sauce (which was good) to flavor it. The beans were nothing special- they were BBQ beans. Frankly the best part of my order was the potato salad which was quite good - a bit more mayonnaisey than normal potato salad, but I found that I actually liked that aspect of it. A couple of times during the meal, the waiter stopped by to see if we needed anything which was good to see. My wife said her pulled pork was okay but also needed supplemental BBQ sauce. She said the Mac and cheese was good, but that the sweet potato fries were overcooked. She ended up not eating them which is very unusual for her. Towards the end of the meal, I ran out of tea and started looking for the waiter. When he did show up, I asked for a refill. He disappeared for an interminable amount of time and then finally returned with our bill. I was still sitting there with an unfinished meal and an empty glass, and still had to remind him that I still needed a refill, and had been waiting for it for a while. He admitted that he had forgotten it, but then actually sat down next to us, seeming to have problems entering our bill in their handheld 'point of sale' device. I asked him again if he could get my drink first. He finally handed me the device to pay the bill and dashed off. He was gone a while again, with me still waiting on my drink. I finally just gave up finishing the meal without something to wash it down with. The Waiter finally came back with a 'tea to go' for me. Though I had planned to order desert for the two of us, we just paid the bill and left, checking off one more restaurant that does not understand that they are in the food AND customer service business. So again, someone tell me why everyone is giving this restaurant 5-stars.

I ordered the Jana - a Valhalla stuffed with Swiss and Muenster cheeses and mushrooms, topped with a fried egg and "Viking Sauce," a sort of chili or meat sauce that seems to be made from turkey. It's huge- I practically had to unhinge my jaw like the Midgard Serpent to bite it! This is a $15 burger and it is well worth it. Understand that when they say "stuffed burger," it's basically two burgers with the stuffing squashed between them on a nice, big bun. I may not need to eat again today. My Bride got the Frigga sandwich - a beef patty with bacon, caramelized onion, Gouda cheese and grilled pineapple tidbits. At $11.50, it's reasonably priced, and must have been good- she wolfed it down like it was Tyr's hand. We opted for combos so we both got tater tots crispy enough to do ASMR videos with and drinks- they have both fountain and bottled drinks available. We had one of each. With Newport News' exorbitant meals tax, lunch came to $46 before tip. I'm not even mad about it- it was worth every penny. An excellent meal with some great customer service. I'm not likely to make the hour drive just to eat here, but I will certainly be back anytime I'm in town already and need to slay my hunger Viking style!

Used to love ordering from Rocky Mount. I love the food but service is so bad. Almost guaranteed to 1. Over promise and under deliver. Never on time, and always blame it on having more business than they can handle. Which is understandable the first COUPLE of times. 2. Employees lack of knowledge- almost every time I call, I am sure to get someone who doesn't know how to ring up a pulled BBQ sandwich with fries. 3. 90% of the time I get the wrong items. This has been going on since November 2018. No food is too good to not order anymore, which I will not be. read more

A lady met us at the door and when she learned it was our first visit proceeded with a pretty lengthy description of the menu and how all of their food was homemade. She was helpful but frankly, we were anxious to order. The menu is not expansive but it had a decent selection. My grandson and I both got the pulled pork sandwiches. They haave a good selection of side dishes. I got their cheesy potatoes - like all gratin potatoes - and baked beans. My grandson got their french fries and mac and cheese. The disposable drink cups they provide are branded plastic 20 oz which are surprisingly good quality. They have three different types of sauces on the table which are decent but none really hit it out of the park. However the pulled pork sandwiches were tender and juicy and really didn't need a lot of sauce. My grandson's eyes lit up when he tasted the mac and cheese. He looked at me and said this is the real thing! I tried it and he was right. My cheesy potatoes were just as good. If I had to be critical, the one thing on the plate which was not super was their hush puppies which were good and of a decent size, but was a bit overcooked. While we were eating we noticed a sign on the table which advertised $3 milkshakes between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. We both got milkshakes to go and they were wonderful, just like homemade. Frequently, new restaurants encounter challenges is the come up to speed. And I have seen earlier reviews of qdaddies that suggested they went through a phase of that. However I can now say that they have hit their stride and is an excellent new addition to Yorktown.

While it's not a typical sit down place with table service or bar drinks, the food was really good and hot. We'll definitely go again. Mac and cheese need more flavor and/or possible another recipe... soupy. How can you go wrong with fish? You're not greeted upon entry. You don't know if you seat yourself of wait for someone to appear. Staff could benefit from customer service training. This is the most ratchet unprofessional place I've been to in Hampton roads. Stay away here! Unless you're looking for a hood spot. This place needs to train staff on quality service. It will make or break your business.

The collard greens were the highlight for me--they tasted like someone's grandmother had been cooking them all day for a Sunday family gathering. I'm very particular about my collards, and these were top-notch! I'm not even local, but this restaurant has officially made my "worth the drive" list. I looked at the reviews and knew I had to give it a try. When we arrived, my wife and I were quickly seated by the Host. And then we waited. And waited. About 10 min later, I told the Host that we had not seen a waitress yet. He was apologetic and promised to find them for us. A few minutes later, the Waiter showed up and took our orders. I fully planned to order the beef ribs, but the cost of $38 was so far outside the norm that I just couldn't do it. (They actually have a sampler platter that costs $66!!) I ended up ordering the half BBQ chicken, BBQ beans and potato salad. My wife ordered the pulled pork platter, sweet potato fries and Mac & Cheese. Both orders came out quickly, but the first thing I noticed about my dinner was that I was having to 'saw' my chicken to eat it. Most BBQ chicken I have ordered at other restaurants is tender to falling apart. But this one definitely fought back, and though the flavor was not bad, I kept having to add the table-side BBQ sauce (which was good) to flavor it. The beans were nothing special- they were BBQ beans. Frankly the best part of my order was the potato salad which was quite good - a bit more mayonnaisey than normal potato salad, but I found that I actually liked that aspect of it. A couple of times during the meal, the waiter stopped by to see if we needed anything which was good to see. My wife said her pulled pork was okay but also needed supplemental BBQ sauce. She said the Mac and cheese was good, but that the sweet potato fries were overcooked. She ended up not eating them which is very unusual for her. Towards the end of the meal, I ran out of tea and started looking for the waiter. When he did show up, I asked for a refill. He disappeared for an interminable amount of time and then finally returned with our bill. I was still sitting there with an unfinished meal and an empty glass, and still had to remind him that I still needed a refill, and had been waiting for it for a while. He admitted that he had forgotten it, but then actually sat down next to us, seeming to have problems entering our bill in their handheld 'point of sale' device. I asked him again if he could get my drink first. He finally handed me the device to pay the bill and dashed off. He was gone a while again, with me still waiting on my drink. I finally just gave up finishing the meal without something to wash it down with. The Waiter finally came back with a 'tea to go' for me. Though I had planned to order desert for the two of us, we just paid the bill and left, checking off one more restaurant that does not understand that they are in the food AND customer service business. So again, someone tell me why everyone is giving this restaurant 5-stars.
