Visited here with friends for a weekday lunch and enjoyed the smoked turkey, greens, and cornbread. I also purchased a commemorative cup so I can get reduced prices on refills (that's IF the cup isn't forgotten at home though). Love all of the variety of sauces on the table. Even found a new one at the counter with some horseradish added, which thrilled me. Thanks for the heads up from one of the staff -- much appreciated! Noise level is mild to moderate. Restaurant is very clean. Staff are all extremely friendly and welcoming. One of the staff brought some complimentary cookies to the table for one of our guys who had served. What a nice gesture! Looking forward to return visits in the near future. Appreciate the concept and honoring our service members. I did deduct 1 star this time since one of my friends informed me about something that caused him to pause. He stated a bit of an "ick" that the photos of women service members are apparently displayed in the men's restroom in the stalls. Can't help but feel it's a bit disrespectful and wish those were displayed in the restaurant with all of the other service members. I had a GREAT EXPERIENCE at MISSION BBQ yesterday 11/7/25. I was on my last day of visiting Louisville from Chicago with my sister from Arkansas. My sister's son and his wife live in Louisville and they suggested that the four of us try Mission BBQ; they had heard good things about the food. I love bbq and struggle to find good options, especially in Louisville (don't get me wrong, we have a few good ones, it's just that there are so few). This one, while I guess it's a "chain" and thus would discourage some, is a strong player and absolutely needs to be on everyone's list. The meats stand on their own--pork is smoky and flavorful, brisket is always tender and juicy (and brisket is my test of a bbq spot because, frankly, most places that don't specialize in it don't do it terribly well, leaving it tough or bland), turkey is a flavorful change of pace. Sauces just add another dimension, and there's a good variety: sweet (Memphis Belle), tangy (Texas Twang), "classic" (KC Classic...yes, I stole the name to describe it, but KC style sauce is what I grew up with so that's indeed classic to me), and unique and flavorful (Bay B Q, which has a solid dose of Old Bay; Smoky Mountain that has a sweet start with a splash of heat on the end; and others). Solid sides (green bean, collard greens, mac and cheese are my top picks). And there are always some good seasonal entrees (the Juicy Lucy style burger is a favorite), sides (corn pudding needs to be full time), and desserts (banana pudding can never be beaten). Service is fantastic. You order and pick up at the counter. Staff is friendly and helpful, and they'll check on you at your table too to be sure all is well. They truly make you feel welcome. The decor and Setup here is cool. Pats honor and tribute to our local heroes who serve on front line forces. There is almost honors and tributes on every square inch of the walls. You walk in to a counter and place your order and they give you a number and you take your seat. They will call out yiur number when it is Ready. They have some bbq sauce choices at the table and some by the fountain soda machines as well. One personally ordered a pulled pork sandwich with a side of beans. I sampled a few sauces trying to find the right one but if I'm being honest they were all just ok. Which described the sandwich to me. Just very ok. I wouldn't say it's bad but it isn't even cracking my top 5 bbq places here locally. The sandwich itself was a decent size. My wife got a chicken sandwich with baked beans and Mac and cheese that we fed to the baby. Her sandwich once again was just ok. Very plain even with the sauces. Where we differ was on the baked beans. I hated them and she loved them so there want an in between I guess. Overall very cool place with a great gimmick for honoring hero's. It is really nice inside the restaurant. Clean and spacious. Our client at work had brought us food one day, and it was so delicious that I asked about the place. He explained that they support our veterans and people in uniform. He had a lot of great things to say about the restaurant, so I finally made it out here. Here is a little saying from their website: "Our young men and women in uniform. Veterans who served with honor. Our local Police, firefighters, and first responders who make our community a better place to live. They're the people we respect most of all, so MISSION BBQ tries to give back in return. I was skeptical when I saw a ribeye on the menu for less than $12. I asked how big they were and the lady said about 8 ounces. I ordered two of them and baby back ribs. The ribeyes were amazing, as good as a steak from a steakhouse like Longhorn and for half the price. Also, they were probably more than 8 ounces, probably like 10 ounces or 12. Undefeated. I didn't try the ribs but my mom said they were great. Will be returning for sure. I chose the "meat-market" pulled pork which came with cornbread. For my sides I had the Collard Greens and Baked Beans. I felt like I was eating food that my Grandma cooked! IT WAS SO GOOD! Everything was melt in your mouth DELICIOUS! The set up is order at the Counter - they have only one size drink cups but the refills of beverage is free and the Sweet Tea is perfection! On the Tables you'll find SIX different BBQ sauces to choose from and a jar of Vinegar for your Greens, and plenty of napkins/paper towels. I chose the Memphis Belle Sauce! It was SPOT ON. I hadn't quite walked to the table when they called me up. The lady at the register was super energized. This must be her favorite job! She let me try the green beans to make sure I wanted to order it. I did the XL combo which comes with one side and a drink. I got the cup that donates to veterans which gives me a discount on my meal if I come back. I got the pulled pork sandwich with a side of the green beans and a huge cup of sweet tea. Yum! The pork was moist. There were lots of sauce choices. The manager came out and brought out Alabama white BBQ sauce upon my request. It was good! I didn't like some of the other sauces on the table. There was another one I liked but I can't remember the name. I like that they had mild and spicy options though. My friends got pulled pork or brisket.
