The sandwich was okay but the loaded potato soup was out of this world!!!! I got half and half and wowwww, I'm so glad I got the soup. It was insanely good, even writing this review I'm craving more. It was flavorful and a good balance between liquid and yummy potato chunks. Sandwich was okay, could have made it at home. But the soup I couldn't have made at home. I also got a lemon bar which was good but nothing to write home about!

If you're looking for some place that's "souper," Crave Cafe is it! For a recent lunchtime team call for work, we were directed to buy some soup from a local restaurant to show off on Zoom. Lucky for me, Crave Cafe is three blocks or so from my house. It had been a bit since I last visited, but my recent experience lived up to my previous ones. I ordered via phone the "Souper Fecta," which is 6 oz. portions of three soups of the day. This day's soups happened to be chili, tomato basil and seafood chowder. This tasting portion was perfect. It was just enough of each to make it fun. The tomato basil was my favorite. While a simple soup, it had some depth to it. The chili had a bit of heat to it, and the seafood chowder had a few chunks of seafood deliciousness in it. I was able to pick up a few minutes after putting in my order via their side window, which they've outfitted with plexiglass to keep customer and staff separate. And even better, the parking spots in front of this restaurant were open, making parking for a few minutes very easy. Crave Cafe is a key lunch spot. Don't overlook it!

Not the most friendly and welcoming place to dine, but I didn't care too much since I went to just grab a quick bite and go. Ordered a pick two 1/2 Anabel's Oriental sandwich and a cup of chicken noodle soup. The tuna salad wasn't anything great; what made the sandwich was the wasabi mayo dressing they gave you on the side to put on it. The chicken noodle soup had a weird tasting broth and a little on the salty side. Place looked a little run down & old and the decor was odd. I would rather frequent a chain lunch place like Jason's Deli or McAlister's instead.

My friend loves this place and comes a lot during her lunch break. My sister and I were happy to join her Thursday at noon for lunch to try it out. When we stepped in, it was about empty. Only two others were dining in. As we sat longer, it got a bit busier but not without a few tables still open. Most patrons were about my grandparents age. The place seems to be like The Cafe, a hidden gem of Louisville that has been around a while. Still, I saw a few people who came in who looked like they work around here. It's inside a house and the decor and ambience reminded me of a cafe I'd find in a small town. Loved all the farm animal pictures! Service was good and quick! The lady was nice. I'm sure target have regulars who come here. I got me a Reuben sandwich with sweet tea. The tea was a bit watery, but I did like the Reuben. Not too heavy on the sauerkraut or the thousand island dressing. My friend loves getting Joe's special. It's a popular choice here. Grilled chicken with Swiss and bacon. My sister got the Guido sandwich. Grilled chicken with pesto and mozzarella. They both thought the food is alright, but I thought it was pretty good! I love sandwiches and I know a good one when I see it. They've got a good variety if you want more than just the typical turkey or chicken salad. They've got parking out back, but I had no idea and had no trouble finding parallel. I'm open to returning! Wouldn't mind trying more stuff on the menu.

Stopped in again with some family and still a great little spot. Varied menu, friendly service, unique dining atmosphere and food quality warrant this solid rating. I stuck with my original selection - the Joe's special ($9) and enjoyed it again. It was lighter portion of chicken but very generous on the bacon - would probably like it the other way around a little better.

Order the T.B.S and chips to-go. Delicious. Exceptional service. Will definitely order from here again

We've been to Crave many times and I can't believe I am just now writing this review. Short version: GO. The service is relaxed and friendly, the location is convenient, and the food is truly outstanding. We recently went for lunch on a Saturday. Pro tip: street parking on Frankfort can be a pain, but they have a decent size parking lot off the alley around back. You order at the counter, but you should definitely take note of the three soups they're serving that day. They rotate through many different kinds and every single one I've tried has been a winner. On this particular visit I got a pick two: a cup of creamy chicken and asparagus soup a half of a Leave it to Beefer sandwich. Now I have to say that I pretty rarely order soup out because it just isn't my thing, but the creamy soups here are the stuff dreams are made of. I mean, if your dreams include impossibly smooth, thick, luscious, and incredibly flavorful soup. Also, the cup is a pretty generous serving. The sandwich I had is served on toasted rye, well dressed and sauced but not overly done, and as you can see from my pics is a generous helping of both kinds of beef. All the sandwiches are pretty large and I cannot fathom anyone leaving hungry! The soup always comes with crackers and the sandwiches come with chips and a pickle, though to be honest I don't usually bother with the chips. The space inside is a bit tight, but it's always clean and tidy. I also just can't say enough about the awesome staff who work there. They recognize somewhat regular customers, are so kind, and so quick to make you feel at home. This is the kind of casual lunch place that makes you proud to be from Louisville!

Based on that video, my expectations were pretty high. My wife and I made the trip out there, and I ordered the Reuben while she ordered the Turkey Reuben. The restaurant itself was clean and nice enough, although nothing particularly memorable. Their homemade chips were definitely the highlight of the meal--they were fresh, crispy, and probably the best part of our visit. Unfortunately, everything else fell short of what we were expecting. The Reuben lacked the bold, savory flavor that makes a great Reuben memorable. I was hoping for something that reminded me of the oversized, flavor-packed deli sandwiches you'd find in New York City, but this just wasn't it. In fact, I honestly think the Reuben at Jason's Deli has more flavor and is a better sandwich overall. Service also left something to be desired. While ordering drinks, we asked what they had available since they weren't listed on the main menu. Instead of simply pointing us in the right direction, the employee gestured toward a small drink menu sitting on the counter and made us feel like we should have already known it was there. As first-time customers, that wasn't a great first impression. Another thing that made the experience uncomfortable was an employee who continually walked around the dining room, clearing tables while closely watching people who were still eating. I understand keeping the restaurant clean, but it felt like we were being rushed, and several times it seemed like he was hovering over diners rather than just checking on the dining area. To top it off, I ended up with heartburn shortly after leaving, which didn't help my overall impression of the meal. I really wanted to love this place because the online videos made it look like a hidden gem with giant, authentic deli sandwiches. Unfortunately, my experience didn't live up to the hype. While the homemade chips were excellent, the sandwich, service, and overall atmosphere just didn't justify making another trip. Sadly, this is one place I don't plan on visiting again.

Initially I overshot the restaurant and had to go back as it's near Paul's Fruit Market in a strip mall. By the time we left the place was packed. So the locals in the neighborhood seem to flock to the Cheddar Box Too. I do like their biscuits and gravy bowl. We dropped in on Oaks night and even though it was pretty busy we were able to grab two seats at the bar. The only downfall of this was the time of day and the position of the Sun blaring through the garage door windows blasting me in the face however that cannot be helped or avoided, just a heads up for anyone who is super sensitive to the sun and arrives around sunset. I started with a Sunset Spritz and looked over the menu, there are so many great options to choose from and I was really torn on what to get but decided on the blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich (you can also get grilled or fried, but the bartender recommended blackened) and an order of sweet potato fries. The fries come with a side of a smoky pineapple chutney of some sort and even though I'm not a huge fan of anything that's really smoky it was absolutely delicious and a great combo. Seriously 10/10 recommend. The sandwich was also fire! I am extremely picky about sea food, especially since I used to live near the cost so it was always fresh and it definitely did not disappoint. I was so full when we left lol My husband got the beef sliders as his entrée with a side of regular fries tossed in roasted garlic pepper. I tried them and they were just OK. The sweet potato fries are definitely where it's at! I am really looking forward to going back and trying out some new items like the Cheeseburger Hand pies, Chicken tenders or one of their boozy milkshakes ... it sounds delicious doesn't it!

We ordered a variety of meals. 2 chicken strips and fries, one grilled chicken strips and fries. A second order of grilled chicken with loaded sweet potatoes fries. And Lastly, a ground beef loaded nacho. The chicken was extremely dry and the nachos were so greasy. I know, we went to a burger place and nobody ordered a burger... maybe a bad move on our part. Also, every small sauce was $1 and you receive about an ounce. I was a bit surprised when I got the bill and none of the chicken came with any sauce. In all, It's cute enough and in a great location. I will go back to try a burger.... But based on our experience yesterday, I'd pass on the chicken.
