I came to meet a few friends here at 6:30 on a Wednesday night. Lots of parking spots in front and the side of the building. It's a big place! Very open with tons of military-related decor. I expected green wall paint, but they used lots of browns, oranges, wood, and some sort of tin material. You order at the counter and they call your name when they've got it done. They were quick! I hadn't quite walked to the table when they called me up. The lady at the register was super energized. This must be her favorite job! She let me try the green beans to make sure I wanted to order it. I did the XL combo which comes with one side and a drink. I got the cup that donates to veterans which gives me a discount on my meal if I come back. I got the pulled pork sandwich with a side of the green beans and a huge cup of sweet tea. Yum! The pork was moist. There were lots of sauce choices. The manager came out and brought out Alabama white BBQ sauce upon my request. It was good! I didn't like some of the other sauces on the table. There was another one I liked but I can't remember the name. I like that they had mild and spicy options though. My friends got pulled pork or brisket. Some tried Mac and cheese or the cornbread or green beans. Everyone enjoyed it! It's good but I'm a bigger fan of Momma's BBQ though. It's still worth being on your BBQ bucket list. What's not to like? Everything juicy, everything flavorful with that smoky juice just oozing through every bite. If the food want so filling I'd be back there more often! Great food and great service! We have come here several times and it is a very consistent with the quality they provide. I love bbq and I have not had a bad thing yet (brisket and pulled pork are my favorites). They are over the top with the friendliness. From when you walk and they are smiling and creating you. They prepare your food quickly and they check on you while you eat. I make sure to eat here at least once a month. After being treated to a catered lunch of Mission BBQ during a work trip in Evansville, I was excited to visit Louisville's and spotted good reviews from other Yelpers. My family came for a late lunch, missing their daily singing of the national anthem at noon. Since it was our first time, we grabbed a menu from the front and sat at a booth before ordering. All items are ala carte - pick your meat(s), side(s) and drink. Combo pricing is available and sides come in various sizes. While you can do a pick 2 or 3 meat option, I didn't spot where you can buy a meat by the pound. My son and I split a 3 meat option and it was plenty. I also appreciated that we could order double of the pulled pork instead of having all 3 meats different. My husband got the sausage - it's a lot! And my youngest got a chicken slider from the kids menu. It was just one so an older kid may complain it's not enough. The kids meal also comes with a side and drink. 6 BBQ sauces are available. All good! We had fun sampling all of them. For sides, we enjoyed the slaw, green beans, fries and mac n cheese. You also get a few buns to make sandwiches and a side of cornbread. Whenever I start getting homesick for Maryland I just pop into Mission BBQ This place is consistently great! Great food, friendly folks and great casual Maryland ambiance. Navy jerseys on the wall and an Old Bay barbecue sauce you can smother onto your food. I stopped in for lunch to get a combo platter. I decided to try the salmon along with my brisket to mix things up. You know, surf and turf babe Wow what a great decision! Good BBQ, good atmosphere, good options. Mission BBQ is a chain restaurant across the U.S (Although there is only one in Kentucky) that offers a large menu of BBQ options like pork, ribs, turkey, etc. It is counter service style, so the food comes out pretty quick. They've got a bucket full of vintage sodas along with a regular soda fountain. The design of this place looks really neat; a lot of military paraphernalia on the walls. The food itself was pretty great, I ordered the brisket (and they are VERY generous with how much they give you!!) I love all of the different sauces they have; different BBQ's from multiple Southern states. I was very impressed with the service also. This is probably a chain, but the first one I have I have been to. For me, a good bbq place needs good meats, good sauce, good iced tea and good sides. This place comes pretty close to hitting all the marks. I had the "moist" brisket, which means the fatty part (or flavor part) of the brisket. However you can also get the lean cut brisket. The brisket itself was cooked perfectly, slightly Smokey and tender. The sauces. I am a condiments queen. I love sauces. There are 7 sauces on the table plus more at the drink station. Everything from Texas to Kansas City to old Bay sauce. You will find some sauce you like. I loved the unique old Bay sauce. For sides I had to try the mac-n-cheese and the Cole slaw. The coleslaw wasn't the typical over creamy style. It might have been a vinegar based. It was good but nothing to write home about. The mac-n-cheese was good. The noodles were tender but not an over cooked mush. They had a creamy consistency, but the pull of real cheese in it. It was also topped with a crumb topping. Again, it was good but not the best ever. And they had fresh iced tea. I had 2 glasses while I was there. Everything was served ala cart so things can add up quickly. Wanting recently to catch up with a good friend, we decided on dinner and wanted to split the distance between where we each live. She suggested Mission BBQ, and while BBQ usually doesn't top my list of places to visit, I decided to give this place a try. Tucked in a quiet corner of a shopping center off of busy Shelbyville Rd (across from Whole Foods), it was easy for us both to get there one day after work (although you may need to wait a while at the light right out front if you need to turn left like I did!) The space itself is clean, open, and very welcoming in a rugged, BBQ-joint kind of way. I went for a serving of pulled pork, with a side of macaroni and cheese. The smoky flavor was just right, and with a choice of sauces, I was able to sample quite a few, although it was good enough that it really didn't need any if you didn't want it to have some.
