    Brisket and Turkey

I love the idea of restaurants that give back and I'm very particular about BBQ so some may think it's great, for me it was average at best. They ask if you want "moist" or "lean" brisket and I'm glad I asked for the moist brisket because it was a little dry. The turkey was good and I will probably give it another try sometime.

Very easy to recommend from the great location and accessible parking, large menu with plenty to appeal to the majority of appetites, and accommodating and friendly staff, only issues are quite high prices and rather noisy atmosphere. The brisket I had was phenomenal, extremely smooth and well done meat with pleasant moist texture and extra appetizing flavors. My buddy had a great dish with the special shrimp however as mentioned the prices are obnoxious for a couple sea bugs. This is a classic Southern chain done up right for the American fill up. I was sad to see little heat added to the house sauces but decent variety and good flavors to pour over my beef. Overall a definite must try for those seeking out good barbecue and wanting a hearty family dining experience.

Clean restaurant decorated with various military, police and fire insignia, plus some football jerseys and helmets. Each table has a selection of 6 different sauces, which was definitely different. Staff was friendly and polite , but music was loud and cashiers were soft spoken, which begs for problems with ordering. Barbecue was good, but not cheap...dropped $47 for what was really 2 meals, because sides are extra. Ordered 3 meats platter and added a salad after trying to figure out their method...lean vs moist is an indication of the fat. Their side salad and entree salad are the exact same price, but the entree salad is twice the size? Apparently we weren't the first ones to get confused because they put a second "side" salad on the platter when I questioned why it was smaller than the cashier showed us...and Be aware if you buy a HERO cup, you are actually making a donation...Now that I know the drill, definitely could make this a regular stop if I'm the area.

But when I got home and started going through my food, I realized something was off. I noticed what I thought was an extra dessert in a flimsy plastic container, but when I looked closer, it turned out my baked dark meat chicken was missing -- the main part of my order. I called twice. No answer. Straight to voicemail. Voicemail was full. So I drove all the way back, tried to go inside -- doors locked. Got back in the drive-thru line and explained the issue. Then the woman who I assume was the owner or head cook came to the window, and instead of addressing my concern professionally, she hit me with sarcasm and attitude -- as if I was out of line for coming back for food I paid for. She insisted she personally packed the chicken and tried to make it seem like I was the problem. When I mentioned there was a container in the bag that looked like pie, she snapped that they didn't serve sweet potato pie that day. Eventually, she handed me what looked like a pie container and told me to open it. Sure enough, it was the chicken -- but it was so dry and shriveled, no wonder I mistook it for a slice of pie. At that point, I told her flat-out: I'm never coming back. To that woman -- if you're reading this -- your behavior was unprofessional, your customer service was dismissive and hostile, and your food wasn't even worth the trip. Mistakes happen, but instead of owning it, you doubled down with attitude and dry chicken in a dessert container. Word of advice: stop assaulting your chicken. Inject it with something buttery, juicy, and respectful before putting it out in the world. Because nobody wants to eat food that looks and tastes like regret. I will not be returning, and I'll be warning others to stay far away.

Among the four of us, two ordered the Texas Style Beef Brisket Platter ($27.99), and two ordered the Pulled Pork Platter ($21.49). I had the brisket with my two sides being baked beans and Mac n cheese. The interior is open air with mostly booths and a bar in the middle. I imagine it can become a little noisy when it's filled with people, but we had arrived early so there wasn't any issues with noise. Our server was polite and friendly. She put the coffee on fresh for us. She checked on us several times during our meal. I loved my brisket. It was tender and moist and very good! I added some sauce to my plate for dipping. There were 4 sauces to choose from, but the two I enjoyed were the Mustard BBQ, and the Chipotle BBQ. Both had some heat which added some great flavors to the brisket. The others all enjoyed their orders as well. Mom loved her pulled pork, and she had a great time. We all went home where cake, ice cream, presents and birthday cards awaited her. Thanks Smokey Bones for helping make Mom's birthday special! 5 stars!
