I love this place. I was so excited to make my own candle for my birthday so I made an appointment. I was even more excited to find out that they have a birthday club and it includes a small candle in a tin that you also get to create. The service was great. They explained the process well, checked on me frequently, and were so helpful with creating the final product. They have various scents to choose from. You can mix and match until you find the one you like. You choose your vessel and they mix your choices until the scent is how you want it. You can choose the color and adorn it with wax designs. The price of the candle is based on the price of the vessel. It's a small space but they take small groups and singles (I'm sure you can rent the space up to occupancy size but call to be sure). They are strict about the appointments. They base appointments on party size so there's no room for add ons the day of because they roll appointments. If you need to add on, call ahead first. For fire code purposes, they have to adhere to the limit. I enjoyed the experience. I only wish they had patchouli. It's my favorite scent. read more

The girls were super helpful and kind, but the overall experience was a little lackluster. There was a lot of down time between steps. Also, the color of our candle turned out completely different than the color powder we picked to add. We were told that it would look exactly like the color powder we pick. Had we been told that the color would change, we would have picked a different color. I think that it would be helpful if they made tiny little candles of each color so that you can see what it will actually look like when it hardens. read more

What a fun day! Perfect for date nights, bachelorette party, mother/daughter or mother/son day. You pick your scents. So many options to choose from. I of course had to make a fall scent. You mix the scents till you're happy. Mine was 6 drops of Sunday brunch, 3 drop of vanilla, and 4 drops of cinnamon. You then pick which holder for your candle and then color for your wax. I have been meaning to visit Mission Crafts ever since they first opened. My friend posted their Hello Kitty special and I immediately made a reservation. Next week is my daughter's birthday and she loves scented candles so I thought this was perfect way to start the celebration. We walked in and were immediately greeted by smiling faces. The decor is just lovely. You feel very special just walking in and being shown around and set up at your table. Marcie, the owner, guided us through the process. That sounds complicated, but wound up being very easy. We were able to take our time and pick our favorite scent combination. It wasn't as easy as you would think. I didn't want to go for the traditional vanilla and lavender so I wound up choosing sun kissed, mint, and coconut. My daughter chose lavender and coconut. After selecting our sent combination we picked our glassware, which was of course Hello Kitty. She picked the larger frosted glass and I picked a slightly smaller clear glass holder. We then decided we wanted to dye our candles and had an array of colors to choose from. We both had different shades of pink. Then the hot wax was poured followed by the scent combination and finally the color. We mixed all of this until the timer said to stop. The candles were then taken to the back for cleanup. In the meantime, we were offered the chance to make some fun beaded bracelets which we did. That helped pass the time as we waited for our candles to solidify. After making our bracelets, we were then able to select toppers. I wanted to add so many but I could only fit a few fun favorites. The candle with the toppers were then taken to the back again for more curing. We had our Polaroid picture taken, and the lovely candles were packed safely for our trip home. I should mention that my daughter is 18 and not much impresses her, but she absolutely loved this experience. The value is a little higher than a store-bought candle, but I think it's well worth it for what you get to do. The glassware is great quality. You get to experiment with all of the fragrant oils and pick out your favorite dye. Everything is custom-made to your liking. Even if you go to Ross or a more expensive store, you're going to pay quite a bit for a candle this size. This way you get to have a wonderful experience and come home with something truly unique and enjoyable. I can't wait to go back with friends. read more

I had an absolutely fantastic time here. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly in guiding us through the candle making process. The fun part was picking and choosing which scent combinations we wanted for the candles. Figuring out the balance of scents was a unique experience. Color selection was fairly simple, but stirring in the color and scents into the warm wax was fun to do and watch. Definitely worth your time if this catches your fancy. They did have different sized vessels for you to choose from with the prices on them, and the cherry on top was adding decorations to the top of the candles. read more

Honestly I wasn't the biggest fan of this place. Everything is overpriced, and I feel like you don't even actually get the experience you should. They basically do everything for you, and they're not even good at it. I picked a very specific scent, and they took over trying to replicate it for my candle. They did the complete opposite. When I spoke up that the scent was not the same, they treated me like I was child. I just simply stopped and told them that the scent was fine, as I was done with this experience as a whole. I got the most plain candle along with glassware by them. I will say the glassware was a cute design but obviously very cheaply made. The design on it was cheap stickers, not even painted on, for $35. They charge extra for all add ons. If you would like to put any type of cute toppers, it's like 20 cents to $1. Then they charge you $3 for dye that barely has any color. They also take a Polaroid picture, for free, allegedly, very cute touch. However, the woman taking the picture made a petty irritating ass comment toward me when taking a photo. Not the vibe for me but maybe for someone else! read more

I have always wanted to try candle making and we stumbled across this place when visiting San Antonio. It was so much fun & both of our candles smell AMAZING! All of the essential oils smelled great, so I honestly don't know if any of the candles could smell bad. My candle was a mix of Birchwood, Mango & Papaya, and Sandalwood! If we lived in the area I would definitely try one of the classes! The owner was soo helpful and very sweet! She explained things very well and made the experience so much fun. The candles took about 30-40 minutes to dry, but there is a cute bar nearby where you can grab a drink while you wait. They even have happy hour. :) Highly recommend!! read more

I originally heard about this place on either FB or instagram just scrolling. I saw an ad for a Hocus Pocus night and asked my friend if her and her daughter wanted to go, before I knew it- the even sold out. Then I saw another for A Nightmare Before Christmas (love that even more) so we made a reservation. My friends daughter had plans so it was just for 2, we got there and met Marcie, the owner who is so sweet and knowledgeable. She took us to our table, went step by step over th process, then left us alone to start our candle making process. She checked on us often and answered any and all questions we had- then my friend got a call that her daughters plans were cancelled and we asked if she could join us and were pleasantly surprised at a yes! So now, the 3 of us made our candles, laughed and caught up on our personal lives. She even let us have some coffee and water (supplied by a business next door) at our table. They had some candy and at the end hot, fresh popcorn for us to enjoy from a ever so cute popcorn maker. Her store includes ready made candles as well as a few items made locally like notecards and earrings. The space was clean, the staff very friendly and I had the most enjoyable time I think in a very long time. I would def come back for future events. Marcie shared some upcoming events and I will def go back. It was a fun afternoon. read more

My daughter and grandbabies went today with me to make Sailor Moon candles. The people there were incredibly courteous, incredibly helpful and kind enough to give my four-year-old grandson, some paper and markers to color with while we made candles. The candles came out great they gave us boxes to transport them in and the prices are very very good. I would recommend this to anyone that likes to make candles or wants to just try out making a candle. read more
