I like his "quit while you are ahead" idea and his holistic approach to feeling good and looking good. I've seen people pushing themselves without understand why they are doing so. While this is not a gym, at least not until they expand and they have plans to do that, this is a great place to start learning about how to take care of oneself, not be judged, and feeling and eating good. Oh wait, there's no food served here but it is right next to "the Curve". What I like best about focal point training is Tyler's personality and attitude. Super friendly, enthusiastic and willingness to work with individuals to meet personal goals. Besides being a certified personal trainer, Tyler is also certified in hypnosis to help his clients achieve their goals after a training session. I really connect with his methodology of creating a program for the individual to make exercising sustainable and fun. Package starts out with 10 sessions to learn (and do) how to feel where you need to be and how you can make progress on your own after the sessions or sign up for individual sessions with Tyler after that. If anyone is looking for a personal trainer, I would recommend Tyler.

I'm 46, a former runner and had basically given up on exercise. I needed help. My life has truly been transformed by Tyler and his Good Enough philosophy. I trained with him for about a month and then started working out at home on my own. He teaches you to listen to your body and become intuitive about what works for you and what doesn't. I have worked out almost every day for the past 3 weeks and am totally hooked. My pain has dramatically subsided and I feel so much stronger already. I had adjustable dumbbells before I started and then purchased adjustable kettlebells, but that is all I have needed to get the job done. Tyler is passionate about what he does, very professional and just an all around nice guy! He teaches you sustainable exercise and he truly cared about my success. I feel so fortunate I found Focal Point and highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in shape for the long haul. He calls it Good Enough but I call it crazy good!

If you take strength training seriously, this is the best gym in Madison. They have tons of…read moreequipment. Some of my favorite things they have that you dont see at every gym: weighted sled, bars made specifically for different lifts, micro plates, heavy clamps, the list goes on... Theyre never crowded (at least compared to Gold's Gym in Fitchburg). Ive waited for a bench to open up once and ive shared a deadlift platform a few times but thats it. The atmosphere is great too. They have dank lifting memes all over the place, a life-sized yoda replica, and a john cena cut out. They play loud metal and rap music all day too. The gym is 24 hours. If you come at odd hours, you might get the gym to yourself and have to let yourself in with a key fob. They dont have group fitness or a swimming pool though, so look elsewhere if you need those things. Also, if you get intimated easily by people who are stronger than you, maybe look somewhere else. Despite how strong and experienced most of the clients are, everybody ive met so far has been very friendly and helpful. I find the other lifters to be inspiring instead of intimidating, so i suggest you give Madtown Fitness a try if youre trying to take your strength to the next level.

I don't think I can say enough positive things about this place. I went to their new location on the east side so I am specifically mentioning that gym. Atmosphere- unreal. Perfect warehouse type gym that is extremely motivating for those that take fitness seriously. Staff- Dan, one of the owners, was very helpful and got us set up for the day immediately. He showed us how to use a few of the pieces of equipment as well since there are some machines that I have never seen before. This is a testament to the care that these people take in selecting equipment. Equipment- I have been to dozens of gyms since I travel for work and Madtown had the best selection of strength equipment I have ever seen. If you powerlift, bodybuild, or do any combination of the two this place is perfect. If you want to watch TV and walk on the treadmill, sit in a steam room, or have a pool the this place isn't for you. If I didn't live over an hour away I would have signed a life long contract here. Rates are reasonable and this is the first serious gym I have been to that gives access 24/7 while having 2 locations. Seriously check this place out if you want to make changes to your body.

Group Training that exceeds my expectations and familiar processes…read more They sell CSA veggies and fruits for as low as $11/per bag. Each week deliveries are given to you on Friday after class. Pay by Wednesday of that week. All locally grown and you can choose all organic. The Farmer up the road does the growing and even kid farmers are involved from Badger Rock Middle. Hands on massage therapy, yoga on Sundays, juicing classes as well. Classes are 1hour versus the 45minutes that I've only been exposed to from gyms and other boot camps. When I say 1 hour the one hour does not encompass 15 minutes of warm up and cooling down. You get that outside of the hour. Meet in the Center for Resilience on the 1st floor. 1:1 visit with Coach Haywood before you're allowed to even start a class. Indepth interview. Problem areas assessed and then an explanation that it's not a problem just a misuse of muscles or overuse of muscles and etc. Modifications are made in a non-judgmental way. Growth is expected and charted. As with any good place - form is more important than how many counts you can make. Reasonably priced I'm a fan and recommend everyone check it out. Kids program as well.
