Great BBQ spot. Was in town on a vacation and wife found it on yelp. Glad she did. I ordered the 2 meat combo, ribs and brisket, sides Mac n cheese and beans. Brisket was top tier, soft, juicy with some bark, lots of smoke flavor-just legit. Ribs are really good nothing amazing but still solid, not complaining but not on the brisket level. Ribs were fall off the bone but not sloppy fall off the bone still had a little bite to em just hoped for a little more smoke flavor. Beans were highly recommended but they weren't that great to me. Mac n cheese was amazing, really cheesy and not a sloppy mess! Garlic bread was good as well. Service was good, atmosphere was ok nothing amazing but nothing ugly either. Overall I'd definitely come back for that brisket and maybe try some other meats too!!

Breakfast taco and breakfast sando; served until 11 am daily.

Their breakfast tacos and sandos are sold until 11 AM. They both rely too heavily on the BBQ sauce, but they are still good. I recommend asking for the jalapenos and BBQ sauce on the side: 5/5: The breakfast taco. Perfect ratio of ingredients. 5/5: The breakfast sando. Good quality bun. Can be eaten open face for greater flavor impact.

Great place to stop before heading to the beach. Really nice and friendly staff. Super helpful and fast service. The bbq plates are generous and everything was well seasoned and came out hot and juicy. We liked everything we tried-and we got pretty much everything. The ribs were tender but still had a bit, brisket juicy and fall apart tender, chicken moist and tritip perfectly cooked. Definitely stop by when you're near.

Santa Cruz and the surrounding areas have been only hits so far with food! Mission St BBQ was suggested to us by someone we know that goes to UCSC and it was the perfect suggestion to close out our trip to Santa Cruz. We got one of the family platter and ordered the loaf of garlic bread (which was cheaper than buying per slice). The brisket was so tender and delicious; the ribs were a bit dry but yummy nonetheless! The mac & cheese is made with white cheddar and the potato salad was so good! The side of pickled veggies is a nice touch and adds an acidic & crunchy touch to the meal! I will definitely be back!

Just had this yesterday while we were in town and already craving it. I got the bbq meal plate with brisket, beans, and coleslaw. Came with a choice of bread and opted for the corn bread but only had a small bite just to try it. It was ok. Back to the brisket - it was soooooo juicy and flavor was on point. The beans were really yummy too. Food came out pretty fast and staff was friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]On the way out we saw they had a sign that said live blues every night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We said we would come back here again next time in town. Would recommend this spot if you're craving bbq!

I was nervous about finding a meat-centric restaurant in Santa Cruz for my picky husband, but this place was perfect! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a cute spot with a little stage for live music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Plenty of parking. Our food came really quickly. It's an order at the counter and clear your own table kind of place, which is nice when you want to make a meal go a bit faster.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a stage for live music which is really cool![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got our food to go and it was done pretty quick. The meat was very tasty. It had great flavor and their house barbecue sauce complemented everything well. But while the meat is the focus and was amazing, the sides fell a bit short. We got the cornbread, the beans, and a loaf of garlic bread. Each of them felt a bit lacking. Just blander and less flavor than we'd hoped. The meat was incredible though, and that's obviously the bigger hope at a barbecue place.

Summary: solid Q, fast food atmosphere, busy with decent amount of parking Details: Hungry? You can smell the BBQ driving by, enticing you to come in. Summary of a half dozen visits over the years... Brisket Biscuit Breakfast Sando - solid biscuit with two eggs. Wish it was cheddar and not American cheese. Do top it with the housemade jalapeños and cucumbers. My ranking of the meats: Brisket -- very good Pork Ribs (St Louis Style) Tri-Tip Chicken -- solid Burnt Ends Hot Links Pulled Pork -- eh I'm not a huge fan of any of the sides . Cole slaw is defn too bland. Solid choice of beers and draft soft drinks. Workers are always pleasant and helpful.

Food was Delicious!! The live blues musicians were such a great addition to the memorable dining experience. The family stopped by after spending the day in S.Cruz. Young lady at the counter was very friendly and her suggestions were a great help. We ordered the bbq pulled pork sandwich - it came with lots of meat and the barbecue sauce with spot on. BBQ mac & cheese was delicious and a great size portion. BBQ spud was as well a great portion and very delicious. I would highly recommend everybody to stop by. Beware of the spicy barbecue sauce. It does have a kick at the very end. I will definitely be stopping by again. The only little small suggestion I have is that the Stout beer be a little colder.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance and service was great![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ample seating with a lot of parking to choose from.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It took a pretty short time for them to cook up the food and it was good! I got the large pulled pork meal with mac n cheese and beans. The portion size was more than enough! I usually still am hungry after my meal at restaurants but this one for sure filled me up to the brim! The mac n cheese was super densely packed and the beans had burnt ends in them! The pulled pork was good, not the best Ive had but a great deal at only $23 for the whole thing! They also gave some Andes mint chocolates free of charge which was such a fun touch!

My husband and I finally tried the breakfast at Mission Street BBQ, and it exceeded our expectations! The brisket breakfast sandwich was incredible--tender, smoky brisket on a fresh, delicious sandwich. My husband had two breakfast tacos, one with brisket and one with tri-tip, and both were packed with flavor. Everything was fresh, filling, and cooked perfectly. Great food, friendly staff, and a welcoming atmosphere.

I love this place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You can smell the bbq from the moment you park your car.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have breakfast too until 12 am. They use wooden logs as you can see them stacked next to their bbq burners outside in the back . The prices are unfortunately very high but the bread and meat quality , the courteous service more than makes up for it. We had the sandwichs the brisket and tri tip. I was expected the root beer to be more bigger but I'm used to an A&W Mug I guess. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is popular amongst the construction workers and blue collar clientele.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Not so much as the UCSC students. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The location on main is perfect[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . They also sell rubs and bbq sauce which I passed on this trip because lunch for 3 hungry guys costed around $82! I do really love the bread they use and should've got the small tri tip instead of opting for a large. Had no room for deserts either so that will wait until next visit . If you looking for a bargain lunch or meal this place is not it. You like quality bbq then it is! Definitely Looks like a Santa Cruz staple and here to stay .

The crazy thing is, we never tried anything else on the menu. We went for the first time late in our freshman year, got a dinner combo (3 different meats and a side) and never switched up. For reference, this was our order for the following 3 years at UCSC: Combination, choose (3): BBQ Chicken, Beef Ribs, Hot Links and Macaroni Salad as the side I don't recall the total, but back then (late 90s-early 2000) I believe a 20 covered it. The folks that worked there are always awesome and they were generous with the student population. I would certainly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a filling meal at a good price. The dining area is small, but quite nice and fairly quiet as most orders are to-go. I'd also urge you to consider ordering an array of different items to see what you like; from what I heard, they make a pretty good cheese burger too

I was a little disappointed that I couldn't pre-order the burger for pickup, but I was told it's made fresh to order and available in limited quantities, which made sense. Along with the Poke Burger, I picked up a bottle of their Garlic Gurl hot sauce. Being from Gilroy, I had to give it a try! It had the perfect amount of garlic flavor with just the right level of heat--not overpowering at all. I also grabbed a Hawaiian drink from the refrigerator by the entrance. Having just returned from Hawaii, it instantly brought me back to the islands. The restaurant itself is spacious, clean, and inviting, with plenty of indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. Parking was easy to find, which is always a plus. When my food arrived, I was surprised by the portion size. The Poke Burger is huge and could easily be shared between two people. While I'm personally not the biggest fan of crispy rice, the poke filling inside was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and delicious. Every bite was packed with flavor.
