I love this place. It is a little pricey but everything I have had has been delicious. Great quality. Their sausages are fun because the flavors rotate. Favorite so far is the Jalepeno Cheddar Beer sausage. They also have really amazing burger patties. The staff has always been very friendly and knowledgeable.

Chris and the crew at El Salchichero have this butcher shop dialed in providing top notch products bursting with flavor. Today I picked up a dry aged Ribeye that was amazing! I've never been disappointed. Congrats on 15 Years of serving our community! Much respect and appreciation!!

Seasonal salamis. The Morel salami is very flavorful.

Great artisan meat and charcuterie shop. Flavorful artisanal salami selection. Tried the beef summer sausage, sandwich salami, and seasonal morel salami with pine nuts. All cured and smoked in house. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Haven't tried their steaks, yet. Need to do so.

Walking around the stores near by we could smell this delicious smell coming from this little store . I had to walk in to just check it out . This store is like my husbands dream lol . They have so many meats to choose from with so many flavored Jerky and so much more . They also have handmade picked items, mustards, sauces, and tortillas chips . This is your community butcher on steroids all the good stuff ! When we walked in we got greeted by a gentleman that was really nice and explained a few things to us about the products . We were only staying for a bit so we got some Jerky but we do want to come back to grab more things this store is a meat lovers dream with all top quality meats. I highly recommend checking it out .

Bone-in ribeye. I actually picked the smallest one in the case, lol. So good

A friend recommended this place to me a while ago. I live in SJ, so I don't do a lot of grocery shopping in Santa Cruz. I decided to check out Apéro Club, and was surprised to find El Salchichero a few doors down. After perusing the case - which was full of amazing meat products for me and my pups! - I decided on a ribeye steak and a couple of bones for the hounds. The steak was *amazing*! So tender and juicy. I'll definitely be back to try other delicacies.

Great local butcher! With food, you pay for what you get. And you get quality here. Meats are sourced well. I love the Tasso bacon! Conveniently located and parking is easy. If you want good meats come here and you won't be disappointed.

Second visit much more pleasant! Customer service improved and the meat still delicious! The burger had an interesting taste. Bacon with the ground beef. Like mixed together. Was even given advice on how to cook it. Unfortunately my new tiny grill wasn't really hot enough. If you buy this burger make sure to heat your grill up. Sear that burger! Sear the bacon inside the burger: I thoroughly enjoyed this burger and will buy more meat from this spot when I visit humble sea down the way, but next time a regular burger. Cheers and happy Yelping.

I wanted to check out the other stores since they had a little market outside. I ended up ordering the Firebird sandwich with an Izzy and I was surprised on how many different styles of drinks, wine and so does they have inside there? Sandwich shop. They also had deli meat you could buy and stuff you could take home with you. The lady that helped me was incredibly friendly impatient since I had no idea what I wanted to eat. She gave some options since I wanted a hot sandwich and I liked cheese that melts. Lol when I got my fire sandwich, I neglected to ask if there was any condiments or vegetables inside besides the bell peppers. I always like lettuce or something with a crunch. Sandwich was pretty basic, but I think it needed something extra like a spicy aïoli sauce or something added to take it up to a different level of flavor. I usually like different flavors within sandwiches so perhaps I'm just picky. Overall, I thought the sandwich shop itself was incredibly cute and I liked all the drink drinks and glasses or even bottle of wine you could purchase and then walk down the way to the beach! That's exactly what I did after I ate my sandwich.

The arugula and chimichurri packed an exquisite punch, and the meat was thinly cut (but thickly piled on) and soft. The flavor combo of rich steak and intense herbs on top of fresh ciabatta with some sort of subtle creamy garlic sauce? Perfection. The Hot Bird is thermally hot, not spicy, and very rich and creamy. The meat had a subtle smokey flavor and the roasted peppers were almost tangy, but it sort of melted away into the richness of the mayo and turkey. It was tasty, but the chimichurri really "wowed" me. I don't think I'd order the Hot Bird next time, but I'd drop the $14+tip on the chimichurri again in a heartbeat.

We came an hour early and they were able to get us to the available seating right away. You'll notice some vintage photos of people enjoying the restaurant many decades ago. With jazzy music in the background and a friendly atmosphere, I knew this was a good spot to choose. There's a variety of pastas you can get. I got the spaghetti pomodoro with chicken. Chicken and other meats have an additional cost, but they are so worth it. The spaghetti I had was chewy, fine, and tasty. I've never had anything like this before in Santa Cruz. The restaurant has a bar setting for those who want to casually take a sip. This is a great place to go on a date or celebrate for a birthday. I would 100% recommend.

Yes, they have gas and a car wash, but that is just the beginning. Inside, there is a gourmet kitchen serving up locally harvested seafood and Harris Ranch meats. The burger here is hands down one of the best in the county. It is technically fast food, but nothing like what you would expect from that term. AJ's goes way beyond typical gas station fare. You will find organic produce and treats from around the world like English biscuits, real maple syrup, and a Southeast Asian spice rack. They also offer an impressive selection of local wines, baked goods, ice creams, and coffees. Owner Akhtar Javed, originally from Pakistan, opened the market in 1987 after falling in love with Santa Cruz. He became a local legend after the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake when he let customers take what they needed and pay later during the power outage. AJ's Market is a true gem and worth the stop whether you need gas or not. P.S. AJ also carries dried cuttlefish so you don't have to travel to San Jose or find a Ranch 99. P.P.S. In addition to the coffee station, they also had a full cooler of Marianne's Ice Cream!
