I celebrated my friend's birthday while finally eating at this restaurant. Up to 4 family-styled sides of candied sweet potatoes, dressing, collard greens, and mac & cheese with complimentary onions, tomato, and hot water cornbread. I choose $21.97 meatloaf which ended up being a pan size and to-go leftovers. With my meal cost, came an unlimited drink so I ordered a Pepsi but wish they have a zero sugar drink or reduce the cost for water in the soul food restaurant. Meatloaf was fine but needs a little more flavor like onion or bread crumbs. The candied sweet potato was the best on the table. It's been quite sometime since we've eaten here. So, when our friend suggested we meet there, we were all in! We arrived at 1pm on a Tuesday - no crowd. There were maybe six tables full of folks. The service was awesome. Our server greeted us upon arrival. She was very attentive but not overly. Our food arrived very quickly. My chicken, greens and macaroni were very good. The plates were a little too small for the portions. The onions and cornbread were a nice added touch. My husband had a veggie plate. He liked everything except the cabbage. I ordered the roast pork with macaroni and cheese and green beans. The green beans are overly salty, but the macaroni and cheese and hot water cornbread was good. The pork however, was tender, but it had kind of a creamy or slimy consistency so I was a little suspect of it, but still ate it. As a result, I spent the rest of the afternoon visiting the bathroom frequently. I had several friends tell me that the food wasn't good there, but I wanted to see for myself. Young woman who waited on me, was on her cell phone the entire time she was taking my order. She was almost courteous. Nonetheless, I won't be back. We went here with my 83 year old Mom Saturday evening and everything was wonderful! I will tell you this place has lots of large parties and I mean large! They had two going at the same time so be prepared this might happen. After 3pm everything is all you can eat. They bring so much we never ask for refills and that's perfect because you can take it home as long as you get no refills. We are from the Deep South so we know good food and this will not disappoint! I am so particular about meatloaf and theirs is delicious. The pot roast fork tender and full of flavor. Fried chicken delicious. You get 4 family sized bowls of sides and we picked mashed potatoes and gravy, cabbage, collard greens, and mac and cheese. While I liked the Mac n cheese I wish that it was more creamy but that didn't stop me from eating it. They are cash only and do have an ATM machine. As I was paying and couldn't possibly eat another bite I saw pecan pie behind the counter. That's my favorite pie! Next time! This is the perfect spot for a hearty meal that tastes home cooked! Everyone was super nice and very attentive to our table without being annoying or feeling rushed. The food was amazing and came out super quick! We were able to choose 4 unlimited sides to share. They came in massive bowls, but we got separate plates to put everything on. We got refills on the Mac and cheese and sweet potatoes. I left stuffed because I couldn't help myself and kept eating the amazing sides :). When someone asks me where I go for soul food and/or southern comfort food, this is where I take them. This is by far one of my favorite places to go, especially because it seems to still be a "hidden gem" around the city. The food is delicious, it's got that "home cooking" feeling to it. Reminds me a little like the cooking I grew up eating at my grandmother's house. There's plenty of space and tables around for people to come in and sit and enjoy so that's never been an issue for me. Service is great, food may occasionally be a little slower depending on what you order because if you want it cooked well and HOT, it's going to be made to order! All desserts are amazing! It's all you can eat. The first time we ate there, they asked if we wanted any refills and we said no and the waitress was surprised. The second and last time we ate there we got a different waitress and asked for refills but she was more than a little unwilling to check on us for a long time,totally ignoring us. Stopped in with my best friend for lunch before going down the street to look at cars. First CASH Only so plan ahead. We walked in and was greeted immediately, ask if take out or eat in. We sat down and was ask about drink as soon as we sat down. Drinks came then ordered food which came out super quick. Pretty sure the food was made ahead, but it doesn't matter because it tasted wonderful. I mean seriously I bet this place is packed during main meal times. This was a fun family-style meal with true southern cooking! The prices are a little higher than I initially expected given the casual environment, but it is all you can eat and includes a soda, tea, or lemonade. The table picks 4 sides together and they are served family style in large dishes with the individual meat choices. Personally, I would have preferred the option to stick with individual plates as we didn't take advantage of the all you can eat benefit. So there was a fire about five years ago and the restaurant reopen. Before the fire, the food was so delicious. However, it has really changed. I stopped through there on my way to St. Louis and ordered what I thought would be a sure thing baked turkey and dressing, green beans, and candy sweet potatoes. I even ordered an extra side of macaroni and cheese. Well, I didn't really read the menu which is my fault; the turkey was shredded and dry. The dressing was gritty and not good. I was so very disappointed. The greens were OK and the candy sweets were OK. Perhaps, I need to go for the fried chicken, which was always good, but I just really wanted something that was not fried. Fried chicken was very good, the mac & cheese was fantastic (up there with the best I've ever had)! Mississippi bill has been a wonderful restaurants since the 90s and I've always been going since then their food was wonderful and it's always consistent. The service is always good. I recommend this place to anyone who comes to town and wants a good home-cooked meal. The ambience is like a soul food diner with TVs and you can catch the Colts game on Sunday. read more

We truly enjoyed the Fried Fish, Ribs( so tender they truly do fall off the bone) and you don't even need any sauce ( I didn't care for the bbq sauce provided), the smothered chicken was great as well and very tender. We enjoyed the corn casserole very delicious and tasty, the greens were great, didn't care for the cabbage of Mac and cheese but the sweet potato was decent. As a soul food restaurant, I was disappointed they don't serve catfish, they serve the nuggets, on Fridays only. I had the rubbed ribs, it was just baked pork. The sides, candied yams, green beans, and macaroni and cheese were delicious. One person in the group I was in ordered meat loaf, said he wouldn't order again.
