I was greeted when I walked in. It was clean. The lady taking my order was very helpful and patient with me. (It's hard to receive good customer service, so thank you). The food was hot and fresh. I ordered fried green tomatoes, macaroni, and sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes were my favorite. The macaroni tasted like they used nacho cheese or jalapeños in it. And it was loaded with black pepper. She did tell me that the fried green tomatoes are prepared with the same seasoning and grease as the fish. I knew it would be a chance that I could get sick, and I still took the chance. For my taste buds, the tomatoes weren't seasoned enough. I did, in fact, get sick and ended up suffering for hours. I wish there was a way for restaurants to cater to vegans. We still want to enjoy good food, but the cross-contamination of meat will get me every time. A small fryer to cook the vegetables separately would be amazing. read more

Where has this place been?? I've heard about Kountry Kitchen and His Place, but Greens & Things-is new to me. I'm glad we stumbled upon this quaint little spot. Our first try was amazing. Great food and faster than their competitors down the street. I had the smothered chicken and my husband had the oxtails. Our dishes were really good. We will be back. Updated: We've been over there a couple times now and I will say, they could work on their consistency. The third visit wasn't AS amazing as the first time. That's probably why they dont have as strong a following as their competitors. And also why I could only give 3-stars versus the 4-star I had previously awarded. The staff is pretty friendly. The young lady did make a mistake on my order-but made it right without attitude which makes a difference. Sometimes when mistakes are made the people on the front can get attitude and don't want to fix the mistake, but that wasn't the case at all-and it didn't take all day. To me: the smothered chicken and oxtails are the best dishes along with their cabbage. Their mac & cheese isn't consistent one day it's amazing and then on the other day not so much. A friend of mine had their meatloaf; which they only serve on Sundays and was not impressed. So if you try that- use caution. To me they'll be my go to place when I want some good ox tails and smothered chicken. We personally don't eat pork but I know they have ribs and pork chops-I might be willing to give it a try-but might go during the week versus the weekend. During the week is when I've had the best results versus the food on the weekends (surprisingly). If you want to try my friends at Greens & Things-go during the week and try one of my favs mentioned above. They don't give you what they ask what they're actually charging me. Love this place and can't believe it has been in the neighborhood and I never knew. I had a half slab of ribs, greens and mac-n-cheese. Pros: -Friendly staff -Mac n cheese was on point. We tried this place for the first time this weekend. I had the catfish and my husband had the pulled pork and we both enjoyed them. I ordered online and wanted the peach cobbler but they had sold out, so Ms. Annette called me right away and let me know we could get a refund or a different item when we arrive. Never thought about trying this location. I did not know what they had until Yelp put me on. I was craving some catfish a few months ago and wanted to try something different and was suggested this location so I said let me give them a try. I remember it was a holiday and most locations were closed but not G&T. I ordered the catfish that came with two sides. I was not able to indulge in most sides due to them containing meat and the most important side was not available at the time. You know what side i'm talking about. The mac. I went with mashed tatters and sweet tatters. The sweet tatters were ok nothing special, not really sweet at all. The mashed tatters were good with a puddle of butter on top. TURKEY RIBS. They're everything that you love about beef/pork ribs ... smoky, thick, meaty fall-off-the-bone goodness, except in bird form. If you absolutely love turkey like I do, you owe it to yourself to give these a try. I've never had something like it before and have not seen them on any other menu in Indy. If you wonder how a turkey rib is actually possible, just know it's *technically* a cut from the shoulder that looks/cooks like a rib. No matter where it's from, I'd put Booker's turkey rib as the 2nd best turkey in town behind my favorite City BBQ. Comparing the two is a bit difficult because they're so different from one another ... actually, that's a brilliant meal idea. Get both, alternate bites between the two turkeys, live like a king. As for non-meat options, I'll say that the collard greens and green beans were above average but not mind-blowing. Both are worth ordering, just note that there's some red pepper flake heat in the green beans so they are (likely) for adults only. The ladies behind the counter were very nice and friendly ... when I asked what they were known for & what I should get next time, I was told with enthusiasm, "EVERYTHING is the specialty of the house - it's ALL so good." All and all, the food here is pretty good but, for the price it's a really good value. I think the entrees/meats are better than the sides. The sides are good but, not great. I've had multiple meats; some are better than others but, none of them are bad. Bottom line this is a great bargain, you're getting pretty good food at very reasonable prices (Dinners are around $12-15 including 2 sides and cornbread). All my coworkers rave about this place so I had to try it out and was honestly not very impressed. I had the pulled pork sandwich, Mac n cheese and coleslaw. It was all average. The mac n cheese wasn't very cheesy at all and the pulled pork wasn't as good as most places. They serve the sauce already on the pulled pork and I feel like that's never a good sign anyways. Service was really nice. They were quick for how busy it was and the two women who worked there were really nice. I love there lamb chops, fried tacos, and wings! I tried there oxtails for the very first time today with some spaghetti- and fries delivered to my house. I got my order my fries was soggy and chewy the spaghetti was horrible and they forgot my gravy so now I have very dry rice and oxtails.. Fresh burgers and fries and turkey ribs, yes turkey ribs. Inside is warm, inviting and smells like a good lunch is getting fixed. I was really excited to try this local place. They even had turkey meal options a day before Thanksgiving! However, their "Turkey Chop" was not as expected or described. I wasn't sure what a "turkey chop" was, so looked it up. "According to the National Turkey Federation, turkey chops are actually created from turkey diagonally cut across the grain from the breast portion." What I received appeared to be from the rear of the turkey. I did some looking and the two pieces I got were half of the "back" cut of turkey, the part right around the butt hole. Thinking there was some mistake when I picked up my order, I called to inquire what part of the turkey is their "chops." The lady had to ask the kitchen; she then told me "it's part of the breast." I stated that what I received was not breast and had hardly any meat on it. She then said "it won't have the meat like a pork chop. It'll still have the bone in it. It's horseshoe shaped." I agreed on the bone part and shape, but stated again that what I received wasn't breast and I couldn't quite figure out what cut of meat I received. I will NOT be eating my $14 turkey a$$ and will NOT be patronizing this establishment again! read more

At first glance the building is quite intimidating; nevertheless, once you come in you will not be disappointed. Great customer service and hospitality exhibited. My family and I enjoyed the oxtails, ribs, porkchops, greens, cabbage, Mac & cheese, sweet potatoes, dressing, and baked beans. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The oxtails were tender and flavorful. I was so impressed. We ordered online and by the time I arrived it was ready. Due to the virus, their precautions were in place and I felt safe. I thought I would try this place so I tried a few different things I ordered rib tip dinner with Mac and cheese with potatoes and onions, side of potato salad or greens with hot water cornbread.. The ribs were horrible, burnt and mostly bones and grissle I hate one spit it out, the Mac and cheese wasn't even there the potato's and onions were soggy greens was overdone cornbread was cold potato salad was bland.
