The guys were really friendly and got the job done, but they dropped the ball on the "final touches" part. They left two large holes in my ceiling. Not small holes. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!! If I could give a ZERO I would. I am completely shocked with the customer service and lack of follow through that Mister Sparky has had with my husband and I. They did in an email near the VERY END of it say we would have to pay $59 for them to come to my house. I would have said no, however, I took responsibility, I didn't read the whole thing. I paid it because I really liked the man who was going to do the work. He was wonderful. I was promised the $59 would go to the cost of the job. Not to mention the lady on the phone was completely rude, "Can you not read?" SERIOUSLY?? We received an estimate on Thursday last week with a final number, no line items of the work being done or the products we would be paying for or what the labor would cost. We have had lots of work done however, we have never had this. I asked for the line items list shortly after I received it, they said they would give it to me Friday, never got it. Monday morning, I am told the same deal get it to you later today. Nothing. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told, they have to call me back a more important job was on the line and she was on the phone with them. I get it, it is not about me and the past weekend was a holiday. However, you want me to spend $3000 on you and you cannot follow through???? Doesn't seem like a smart business practice. I did ask and request for my $59 back we will see if I get a response. I was going to move forward with the job the next day if they had gotten me the requested line item list which should be easy to do considering I already had a total they wanted me to pay. read more

Buyer beware!!! I scheduled an appointment with Mr. Sparky based on my need for wiring of multiple outlets and wall switches and Mr. Sparky's business model of flat rate pricing no matter how long the work will take. And they said that they provide free estimates. The electrician showed up exactly as scheduled and was very professional-- all good so far, BUT... The electrician put on his fabric boot covers (this is a big deal on their web site!) and evaluated my needs. He then called his boss to discuss the job and provided me with an estimate for over $1200. Aaack! I wisely decided to decline service but I had to pay a $59 "travel fee" to provide my "free" estimate. I then called another electrical contractor. Their electrician showed up exactly as promised and completed my job at a $120 hourly rate and the job was done in 90 minutes for a total of just over $200 including parts! read more

The electricians were competent, knowledgeable, and courteous, but I cannot recommend and will not again choose Mister Electric because of their pricing model. Repairmen typically charge for parts and labor, the latter of which is based on an hourly rate. They investigate a problem and quote a price for the solution based on the anticipated cost of parts and labor. For example, in my case, a tripped circuit would be handled by brief investigation, an explanation of the potential issue (in most cases, a faulty circuit, outlet, etc.), and the anticipated cost for parts and labor. Mister Electric's solution, however, was to quote over $500 to replace everything that could be, but certainly was not, causing the issue-the circuit, the outlets, etc. The problem indeed turned out to merely be a faulty outside outlet, but instead of paying for the parts and labor related solely to identifying and fixing that particular problem, I paid to have items replaced that did not need to be replaced. Let me be clear that I reluctantly agreed to the pricing before work started. There were no surprises with respect to cost after the work was completed, so the company did not deceive me; I will not choose them again and cannot recommend them simply in light of their use of a pricing model that results in higher-than-necessary costs. read more

I would recommend not using this company. They are not advertised. The dispatcher was nice but lied about if the price was high you could get financing That was all false. They do not give an estimate or price before the work is done. I even had to send two emails to even get an itemized bill for replacement of one circuit breaker and cfgi, and plug which was over $600. The are unscrupulous. The owner did not even give me a courtesy of a call back after i sent an email complaining about the price for further explanation Once they have your money that is that. No warranty of the work sent as verbally that was promised for a year. I was satisfied with the work. Just not their customer service in having to waits days for invoice or no follow up on the price. Unprofessional, Deceptive, Dishonest I agreed to have them do electrical work and I was told that the owner himself (Richard Moore) would be coming by to make sure the work was done properly. Since I had to go to work that morning I was asked to leave a key for the owner and his crew to enter. I went to work that morning and came back that afternoon to find that the owner (Richard Moore) and his crew had left my house and went to another job and left two of the doors leading into my house swinging wide open in the wind. So that meant that for at least 4-6 hours my house was open to stray dogs, stray cats, birds, and possibly anyone who decided to walk right in. When I drove up to my house after work I thought it was odd to see my door wide open and I expected to see either the owner who said he was there on the premises or one or two of his employees. But no one was in my home at all. Nonetheless, the work that they performed failed the county inspection. The inspector had to come out three times and I overheard him tell the crew of Mr. Sparky that the work was insufficient and to stop playing games and stop trying to cut corners. It was obvious that the corner cutting stemmed from the owner himself. He was a good talker, very reassuring but nonetheless didn't follow through or do what he said would be done. When I showed the owner the video of the doors of my home swinging wide open with no one in sight he said that he saw a deer near the property and that's what made him forget to close my home up after leaving. A very immature and unprofessional response. So all in all two things make me unable to recommend this company: 1. The work supervised by the owner himself failed the county inspection twice; 2. The owner was irresponsible and unprofessional by leaving my dwelling wide open and endangering the safety of my home and my family. Save yourself the headache, don't fall for their false reassurance and call someone else. read more

Do not use! I was told over the phone that a technician would come out and asses the problem and then once finding a problem I would be provided with an estimate. Although they came in a timely manner they assessed the problem in less than 30 minutes, quoted me an astronomical number and then charged me $69 dollars to do so. I was referred another electrical company (Micheal & Sons) who was more than half the cost of Mr. Sparky! After all of that I received several calls and voicemails from Mr Sparky asking if I got the issue resolved and if I did they wanted to know with which company I went with? If I needed Mr. Sparky services I would have called them back, but instead I got bombarded with several follow up calls and intrusion as to what company and cost I chose which is quite personal. Wouldn't you know it a month later I received an anonymous complaint from the county about electrical work being done to my property! Of course the complaint was removed as there was no issue but guess who was the only place that knew of any issues in the first place...? Yup Mr. Sparky! read more

I've never written a Yelp review before, but for this company there is a reason. I contacted Mr. Sparky to repair a broken outlet. I was initially told (consistent with their website) that there was a $59 dispatch fee, and then the electrician would determine the cost of fixing the problem. I would then have the opportunity to decide whether to proceed with the repairs on the basis of that estimate. Once I gave them my address and other information, the representative then for the first time told me that there may or may not be an additional "troubleshooting fee" - which would be on top of the $59 dispatch fee but would *not* include any actual repairs. I asked the representative how much this "troubleshooting fee" might be, and she refused to tell me. She then transferred me to a woman who said she was the owner/operator. The owner/operator told me that I had never been told that the "dispatch fee" included anything other than driving to my house and parking (her words), and that their service *definitely* includes a "troubleshooting fee." I asked how much this "troubleshooting fee" might be, and she refused to tell me. She said there are different "levels" depending on how extensive the potential problem is - fair enough, though I had already told them it was a single outlet - but refused to tell me how much each of these levels costs. I asked her whether she could tell me the minimum or maximum levels are - just so I could know the outer limits of what this "troubleshooting fee" might cost - and she refused. I asked her if the "troubleshooting fee" could be $1,000 and she said no. I asked her if it might be $500 and she said yes. I tried to ask a few more questions about the cost of the "troubleshooting fee" and she said that she was getting off the phone with me and hung up. So, in short, the $59 dispatch fee apparently does not include the electrician doing anything other than showing up at your front door. To have Mr. Sparky determine how much it will cost to fix your problem, they may charge you upwards of an additional $500 (or maybe more, who knows?) - before they fix a thing. And they won't tell you how much any of this might cost. read more

This company is unscrupulous and unethical with its pricing structure. Firstly they were going to charge me a 59 dollar dispatch fee to call out a technician that was in my town that they waved so I figured I would go ahead and give them a shot. Their Technician Chris came out and was courteous and professional. When the technician pulled out his tablet to show me the pricing plans I thought I was looking at a plastic surgery menu!!!! The most basic was $431.00 for a simple diagnose and fix. The most expensive was well over a thousand dollars for fire alarm install and other diagnostics. I was having problems with some lights upstairs and thought it could be an in-depth fix so I agreed for the basic service. After twenty minutes of work including going up in the attic it turned out to be a simple breaker. My fuse box is older and it is difficult to see what breakers had flipped. I asked him if the price would be prorated or is the work done by the hour he said no by the job. I gave him my credit card and was livid with this fleecing. I have never felt so cheated in my life. I have sent an email to their corporate office to see how they rectify this issue. I am an active duty military member and I will make sure that my Commanding Officer and all of my colleagues know what sort of practices this company engages in. Better Business Bureau will also be contacted. Any company that cheats its customers so much does not deserve a license in this state or any other simply deplorable. There is also a phantom chirping coming from a hard wired fire alarm system that sounds like its emanating from the attic which was not fixed. All in all a terrible experience. read more

This Company is horrible. Dispatcher told me they would charge me a $39 Dispatch fee and the Electrician would look at my old attic fan and tell me if he could fix it or need a replacement. As soon as the Electrician showed up he immediately tried to convince me in getting a new attic van. He refused to look at my old fan and told me he would have to charge me an additional $175 fee if "ladders had to be pulled out." (I told him I had a ladder and he wouldn't need to get his) Basically I paid $40 for something I could have googled myself. Very unprofessional. Never again! ***Update: I received a phone call from the dispatcher today stating she was sorry for the bad service and that they would like to reimburse my $39 and send another technician out to look at my old attic fan. Going to have to upgrade with another star for a professional response to my complaint. read more

Chris was very professional, polite, and made us feel confident in his abilities. He diagnosed what the problem was and reinstalled the fan for us. AVOID THIS COMPANY!!! I wish we had seen the Yelp reviews before choosing this company and their completely unreasonable pricing scheme. We were charged over $600 to replace a few fuses. In my experience electricians and other services charge by the hour. This company charges a very high fixed price, so even if they just go into your basement and reset a circuit breaker you'll end up paying the high fixed price. You are very likely going to overpay by quite a lot by using them. I spoke with the owner who tried to justify the price by telling us that if the job took 10 hours it would still have been the same price. But this job was just to determine the problem, there was no way it was going to take 10 hours. read more
