Took a few of his private lessons and he actually took time to analyze every single part of my game to find the kinks that need to be worked out that was holding me back. Coach Joseph is one of my favorite and best coaches so far. I met him and his father 7 years ago when I was looking for a good coach for my daughter who is now 12 years old. She loves going there to Scholl Canyon. She goes there twice a week and during summer or winter vacation for Tennis Camp during the year. He run a school of Tennis and he is doing with recruiting few young assistants coaches with him. He is not there to make a lot of money, but to have kids to learn Tennis, discipline, meet other kids, feel safe, have fun, stay out of trouble. My daughter will never go somewhere else. I've taken both one-on-one and group classes with Joseph and love them both. One-on-one classes: Joseph goes through different techniques and drills with you and helps hone in on the types of techniques that go best with what your natural tendencies are. He takes the time to go through the basics and foundations until you're ready to build everything on top of those skills. He pushes you beyond what you may think you're capable of and that's what I really appreciate about Joseph's teaching style. He made me see that I didn't have to be stuck in what I thought was my skill level. He stretched me to see that I could play well if I believed I could and put in the work. I took one-one-one classes twice a week for a month and I learned and improved much more than I did in two years in tennis academy at Rusty Miller in Arcadia. Group classes: Joseph goes through different drills and games with the group and in pairs. I thought the format of the drills would be pretty relaxed because of the tennis classes I took growing up, but what we learn in the group classes with Joseph are no joke. He somehow tailors the lesson to be doable and applicable for first-time beginners, seasoned tennis players, and everyone in-between. I especially enjoy when Joseph pairs us up and has us play different games (not actual tennis matches) against each other. The games bring out a competitiveness that make it all more fun. Bottom line: Joseph cares and he's a really good teacher (and he's REALLY good at tennis). That's more than I can say for the different tennis instructors I've had throughout my life. I started group classes taught by Joseph last week. Though I came in with no prior knowledge of tennis, he made sure that I was learning at a good pace whilst keeping up with the rest of the group. What immediately struck me was how well organized and thorough the lesson was! Joseph uses the time very efficiently and still gives sufficient breaks. Love me some Mr. Joseph! Mr. Joseph's group classes are a ton of fun and great exercise. Joseph breaks down all techniques into simple, easy to learn form. We go through various drills to help drill the fundamentals of each technique. For those of us who are having trouble, Joseph takes us aside to give us more pointers. He really wants us to learn and have fun. After the techniques and drills, Joseph organizes interesting group activities. Tons of running and swinging but huge smiles all around. Joe is very passionate about tennis. And is excited to teach it. He has studied many years of techniques and is very good at explaining posture and safety. My daughter has been a student of Coach Joe's for a few years now, and I can honestly say that he is not only a great teacher, but will be a wonderful friend. When finding a teacher for anything, it is important that they can't only explain things in an easy to understand way, but also make the experience fun and worth working hard at. This is probably most evident with kids, but likely true for all ages. Without a love for what they are learning, anyone will find it hard to get up and devote themselves to it wholeheartedly. Joe is an exceptional tennis instructor. My 7 year old grandson is having a wonderful time learning how to hit the ball with the proper form while having a fun time. I sit back and watch while the fundamentals of tennis striking and strategy are incorporated into the mind and body in a straight and also subtle manner. Coach Joseph's tennis lessons are excellent! I'm a complete beginner in tennis and Joseph's coaching has helped me progress in my tennis by leaps and bounds. Joe is a top-notch coach and I highly recommend him irrespective of your age or skill level in tennis. I've had several instructors throughout my life and none approach the game in the same way as Joe. He is one of the few coaches I know that still competes, and cares deeply about improving not only his students' game but also his own. That is a remarkable difference from say other coaches who are clearly checked out and merely tell you to chase balls around until the lesson is over. There were plenty of instances when Joe ran drills with me. Joe also takes a meticulous and strategic approach to coaching rather than implement a "one size fits all" scheme to his lessons. He will assess your baseline, and create a regimen that is suitable to your individual profile. And if you're serious about improving your game even when off the court, he has no shortage of book recommendations. He has a knack for finding sound principles across disciplines and applying them to tennis, although conversely, many of the conversations we had about tennis motivated me to better myself in other aspects of my life. It would've made a world of difference if I had a mentor like him when I was younger. I'd probably own a Ferrari. Two of them. Besides his love and understanding of tennis, Joe cares deeply about his students--and it shows. Some of the parents I spoke with truly admired the way Joe bonded with their kids. I've been playing tennis for 3 years and always struggled with my forehand. It was good enough to win most matches, but I knew that it could do better and I wanted to be a better tennis player. I saw Joe play tennis and his movement on the court reminded me of Federer. Immediately, I knew that I had to take lessons from him. Now that I have taken several lessons from Joe, all I can say is that Joe is an elite instructor, a true master of his art. I started working with joe in the summer of 8th grade and during that time my family was going thru financial struggles so we couldn't pay for many classes. He saw my desire and obsession with the game and offered me free lessons.
