I asked this company to install 4 hanging pendants for bed ceiling lights over the nightstands. The ceiling outlets and switches were already installed. This is a 2-3 hr job and they almost got my wife to agree to a $850 installation and and upgraded "surge" protector system for $2,400. This is clearly a company that takes advantage of ignorance. Stay far away. This should have been a $300 job. After I told the guy to leave they offered to do the job for $390. Definitely hire them if you want to experience someone to over complicate the job, that has to be done and offer you a few thousands dollars quote for 20 minutes work (it was a matter of connecting a light to a switch) Keep in mind they quote customers based on their neighborhood RE prices, and how much they might be willing to pay, NOT the actual work cost. The guy walked into the house as he owned it, performed things he wasn't asked to, made mess, and wasted a good hour of my time. PS. This job was completed by another electrician in 15-20 min for $100 UPD: I see I wasn't the only person with exact same experience. They seem to target women on it. See below. Poor follow-up with permitting and inspections. Job completed 1/29/2024 without a permit. Applied for afterwards. Inspection scheduled 2/22/2024, postponed due to insurance issues. No prior message just on the day of inspection. Rescheduled for 2/28/2024 which I confirmed, but they did not make appointment with city. Tried several times on 2/28/2024 to verify that inspection scheduled, promised call back with info each time but there was no follow-up on their part. Had to call permitting dept myself to request a reschedule, and was promised a confirmation email but none arrived until 3 hours later when I called again. What a shit show!! Very irresponsible practice. We had a new exterior breaker panel installed and were SUPPOSED to have smoke and Co2 detectors installed inside. Breaker panel was done, clean install but lazy employees left their garbage in the yard for us to clean up. It took MANY requests to finally get the panel inspection done and as expected the representative from Mr Sparky blew more smoke up our ass ensuring he would address the incomplete detector(s) install. I was experiencing problems with outdoor lights on either side of my garage and at the front door. They just didn't work after having a "seasoned" electrician come out to fix them. I called Mr. Sparky and they sent out Will Pierre and after assessing the situation he fixed the problem in no time. August 2019, I lost several pieces of electronic equipment that were fried due to a lightning surge or spike (computer motherboard, cable modem, uninterruptible power supply, television, and cable boxes). I wasn't home at the time. I was near my home at Costco and while I was there I did experience a very nasty electrical thunderstorm that afternoon so I attribute the hit my home took to that storm. Florida is supposedly the lightning capital of the country. After assessing the damage, I realized that I had a wiring fault with the three (3) wall outlets of my third bedroom/office where my affected devices were connected to. Thus, I was recommended this company by someone that I spoke to that I had found on HomeAdvisor. Mister Sparky - they are professionals (licensed, bonded and insured) they were initially on time for the free estimate (Paul) and were relatively on time the next day (Luis) and did pretty decent work but, be forewarned, they are extremely expensive. They show you a free estimate of the work to be completed on an iPad but won't print it out for you nor let you snap a photo of the quote before they begin the work i.e. no written estimate/quote was given, no email either, only a digital quote showed on an iPad. They don't seem to want you to be able to compare prices with other companies with that tactic. - Surge Protection Package Optimum (whole house) - Labeling of the Panel - Main Grounding System - Diagnosis for Office a Room Lighting and Outlets - 2 - New 20Amp Circuits 120v Total price: $4,403 Wow. I was quite hesitant to move forward with the work since it was so expensive but I needed these issues resolved immediately so I signed the agreements and instructed them to begin the work the next day. He did manage to up sell me on adding two (2) new 20amp circuits (4-outlet wall plate box) since I do run multiple computers and other electronic devices at once and was likely putting a lot of load on the one (1) circuit I had everything connected to in the third bedroom/office circuit. I'm not satisfied in the fashion in which they composed the final invoice as it doesn't list the itemized pricing for the individual tasks completed. They just put a final total ($4,403 ouch!) at the bottom of the invoice and didn't specify the cost of each specific task I listed above. When he installed the new 4-outlet wall plate box on a new circuit in my office, he didn't properly patch and spackle the drywall so it doesn't look great. It could've been done better. The time it took to complete everything was about one day and a quarter of another. They 'threw in' labeling my electrical panel that is located in the gargage since I felt I was paying them so much for the tasks I was quoted. I know I was considerably overcharged (trying to be nice here), but good work is expensive these days considering that I don't know very much, if at all, about electrical tasks or know of someone close to me that is knowledgeable that could assist me. I hope the work they performed pays off and that any future spikes, brownouts, surges, etc are mitigated before hitting my electronics and appliances moving forward. Time will tell. Supposedly, my homes' outlets are now all protected with a layer of surge protection from future surges and spikes. I was warned nothing is 100% surge proof. If a lightning bolt hits the tall pine tree next to my house or pretty much strikes anywhere near the home and electrifies everything, anything could result from an event like that. Although, now I have a couple layers of surge protection from such events since I put surge protection outlet expanders, too. (First layer, they protected all the homes' outlets. Second layer, the surge protection outlets expanders I plugged in over the surge protected outlets. Third layer, uninterruptible power supply on important computers and home electronics.) The wiring fault on the three (3) aforementioned outlets was resolved. Thankfully, without any additional cost to what I had already paid. (No bad wiring - phew!) Paul had confirmed this, with his tester, before starting the work that they weren't grounded correctly. In hindsight, I should've just had them only address the wiring fault issue only (and that still would've cost too much through them anyway). I actually would like some additional nominal work done but I'm hesitant to call them again and pay so much. Initially, they said I needed over $11,000 to do everything right so you can understand my hesitation. I'm not 100% satisfied but they weren't terrible either. Just keep in mind, If you call them for a free in-house estimate, expect a very high price for pretty much any task they quote you for. read more

Very reliable. Very thorough. These bad reviews on Yelp are not 100% accurate. Their google reviews are higher, which I checked before my family and friends used them. I spoke to the manager and the manager is very serious about the quality of his branch and the tech's work. A tech changed a panel in my mother's home. They put a drop cloth on my mother's floor before working. Very clean and considerate. The techs explained everything in detail. They were friendly. Price was reasonable considering what they needed to do. They did the work in a timely manner. In the midst of doing the panel we asked the tech about the chandelier and he pulled out a special ladder and discussed the type of chandelier we wanted and what it would take to hang it up. They pull permits. The quality of work is long lasting and they will come back within three years if any issues. We hired them again to do smoke detectors and light switches for the front and back doors. Very trustworthy company. Definitely will hire them. read more

I am adjusting my july review from 1 star to 5. The work performed by my tech Chris Robles was excellent. He did try to upsell me but when I declined there was no pressure. Chris was very personable and knowledgeable. My initial 2 problems were not work related. My problem was going onto the Sparky chat. The people on this chat site are totally worthless and should be terminated. Three times I left messages on the chat site with promises of a call back that never came. I finally got in touch with the gen mgr and he resolved my 2 problems immediately to my satisfaction. My faith in Mr Sparky has been restored and I will use their services again in the future. When I called this company they said the service call was only $19. The electrician arrived on time. I had four electrical outlets that were not working. After an hour and a half he diagnosed the problem and replaced one outlet. He spent a great deal of time trying to scare me into spending $5300. I told him that I only wanted the four outlets repaired. The bill was $789. If you deduct about ten dollars for the cost of an outlet, I paid $389 per hour for labor. Very Disappointing!!! Minor elect work performed was fine even though highly overpriced. I however have 2 problems that Sparky fails to address or even get back to me. I have left 3 messages, one prior to service and two after service. I was looking for the $77 credit that was advertised on FB but disappeared day of service. I also questioned final invoice that stated no warranty since parts were supplied by me. This was a total lie since all parts were supplied by Sparky. Parts were also entry level and not top line. For the price paid I should have received top of line. All 3 times I was promised a call back from Pompano office to address and resolve my issues. To date no one has ever gotten back to me. I had them out this morning for a quote and there pricing is so out of line their license Should be revoked. They quoted me $450 to install an outlet and coaxed cable connection and they were drawing power from an outlet below. I got a second quote from a licensed electrician and it was $150 . They also tried to tell me my house was not founded at all and it would.cost $941 to correct. The electrican who came in after them said the house was grounded and yes maybe not to today's regulations but still AdWords. They also wanted over 400 To install a whole house surge protector. There entire estimate was over $2300 for a job that was quoted by another licensed electrican for approximately $600. I guess if you have $1700 to throw out you would use there service. I think the owners of this company should look to start pricing their work fairly and not look to rip off unknowing customers. read more

We contracted for Mr Sparky to do $10,000 of electrical work. After the work was completed at the end of January, 2018, the office made our lives a total nightmare with their inefficient handling of the permit & inspection process. Numerous appointments were made and no one showed up - ever!! It is now almost 8 months and we still have no inspection and no permit. The men who actually did the work were professional and courteous. But the office has lied to us numerous times and broken several appointments without the courtesy of a call. Mr Sparky is an absolute ripoff. All I needed was a cable drop from the dining room to the downstairs bedroom (No more than 40 ft). A cable drop in the past has cost me anywhere from $100-125. Mr Sparky charged me $396 for a floor run, $514 for outside and $651 to run the cable through the drywall or crawl space. The technician was fine but those were the prices on his iPad and 5x what that job should actually cost. Nope! read more
