Had scheduled 2 estimates for our home, first company was a no show called next day to say he forgot. That's a good indicator of how they would operate. Second one Mr Sparky showed up on time so we went with them being a large company also was a plus. Work consisted of outlets being changed and a few new ones installed. New Recess lights in the kitchen and bathroom to be installed and the kitchen ceiling fan changed. New install of closet light. Deposit was paid 1 week prior to work . 2 Technicians arrive around 9am installing the outlets and leaving multiple holes in the walls where outlets were installed. They left about 5 or 6pm and said they would be back the next day but asked for 50% of the balance which we did give. 1 shows up the next day at 9am to complete the job. He's having issues and calls another guy to help with the recessed lighting. They only got the kitchen finished with no bathroom work done. And once again ask for another 50% of the balance which at that point I said no. They said they would be back on Friday.Next morning the recessed lighting is flickering like a disc ball. We called the company and requested a new technician be assigned to the project, explaining what was going on with holes in the walls and kitchen lights flickering. The manager said he would assign someone else to fix the issue, patch the holes and complete the job in the bathroom. 1 guy shows up and he wound up calling for assistance. Another guy comes for 5 minutes and leaves. An hour or so later another tech arrives to help. They install the bathroom switches and lighting and patch the holes. They claim the brand new switch in the kitchen was bad and that was the problem with the flickering. One of the Brand new bathroom switches was blown out by them when trying to install it so the switch was downgraded to one of their switches which did not have motion when entering the bathroom. The patchwork was horrendous. the next day kitchen lights began flickering again and the bathroom is also flickering. A new circuit was installed for the bathroom. Two stars because they were nice, that's all. Flat rate advertisement was malarkey. After a few minutes looking for the problem the technician told me it would be $299.00 diagnostic fee. He then magically found the problem with my outlet a few minutes later. Then upsold me a $600.00 surge protector offering to waive the $299. Diagnostic fee. Can't blame them I agreed. I called them again for a generator adapter for the house panel. It was installed wrong so it would allow the main line to be energized if I used it during a power outage. Also, they unhooked the power to my well which left me without water for about 24 hours until they came back to fix it. I chose them based on advertisements and hoped to avoid problems. This was not the case. I would not recommend this company. read more

I wish I had read these reviews before hiring Mr. Sparky. Like several other people, I called for a specific fix and let myself be talked into upgrading the electrical panel. Maybe I needed it, but not for $6300! I don´t know why I let myself be talked into it. The person they send first to do the review is more of a salesman than a technician. Now I know I was taken and this job should have cost a third of that (at the most). To be fair, the technicians worked well and were respectful. Job was done quickly. I had an electrical issue in my kitchen where in a grounded outlet stopped working. I called Mr. Sparky and someone came out promptly, looked at the problem. And also educated me of an additional problem that I had in order to be up to code. Therefore I contracted them to do three outlets in my kitchen, they were prompt. Would not wear any PPE and then "forgot" to turn off the breakers. I sent Mr Sparky to my Mothers house to fix a chandelier the tech said the whole circuit breaker box had to be replaced and did a written quote for 19,000 dollars!!! My mother called me, told her to tell him to leave, I then called a Master electrician who immediately fixed the chandelier and said the circuit breaker box was fine, I think this is a case of this Company taking advantage of the elderly. The techs of Mr. Sparky - partocularly Ronald R - did a very professional job installing our new ceiling fan and adjusting the fit of an outdoor light fixture. The fan was hung from a 25 foot ceiling and they carefully set up scaffolding to complete the work. When finished, everything was cleaned up and furniture moved back. A great job. We did not have a good experience with Mr Sparky Electric. All we needed was for someone to help wire in a ceiling light. A very arrogant technician (Carlos) wanted to charge us a $298.00 diagnostic charge before doing anything. This is after waiting 5 days for someone to come out. Gave me a quote for $11,000 and then told me that if i signed right then they would knock $500 off. Did not like the high pressure sales, so got a 2nd opinion. Found out that my sprinkler system worked, dock lights worked (told they would have to dig a trench to fix), patio lights worked and that they system was grounded which they told me it wasnt and could blow up every appliance in my house. When the 2nd estimate came in for $500 total i saved the $10,000 and now everything works and is fixed. This company works off of high pressure sales and is only out to rip you off!!! We needed to change an existing chandelier to a new one (15 lbs). Our ceiling is 16ft and since we don't have a ladder tall enough I set an appointment for a quote. The technician arrived and gave a highway robbery quote of $950. And to top it off they charge you $19 to give you their quote. I will never call them for any other project. When we had the cold spell in February, both of our heaters (we have one upstairs and one downstairs) kept tripping the circuit. We called Mr. Sparky and the electrician who came tried to upsell us on an unnecessary replacement of the panel for $13K - $18K. We ended up just replacing a wire, which cost $1,500. We just had another electrician come to inspect our panel because we are installing a pool, and he said a panel replacement is not necessary (and this is with a pool heater and pump added to the panel) and if it was, it would only cost $4,000. I can't say enough great things about Mister Sparky. These guys came in after I hired an amateur team that was highly rated. The other team's workmanship was terrible and they were disgusting. They used illegal drugs in my home during the course of their work and they all wreaked of cigar and cigarette smoke. I thought that was just the way it had to be... until someone recommended that I call Mister Sparky. The entire team showed up in bright white pressed shirts with smiles and they all smelled great (weird thing to say, but a breath of fresh air after the last crew). These guys were also truly a team: they communicated, came up with a game plan, and when they came up against parts of the plan that didn't work out, they talked it through (including with me) to overcome the issue and come up with a solution. They really know their stuff and I can tell that the guys on the team that helped me really enjoy solving problems. Mister Sparky is not the cheap solution, but do you really want your home and family's wellbeing resting in the hands of the lowest bidder? Electrical work is one of those areas where you should not skimp, and Mister Sparky will get the job done right. Very pleased with both the quality of the on-site customer service and the quality of the work performed by the Mister Sparky technician who handled my residential call. I had some very simple electrical issues to address: several outdated light switches that needed to be replaced and one old school, ceiling-mounted fixture to upgrade. As others already have said, I understood that the flat pricing structure used by Mister Sparky probably was going to mean a somewhat higher estimate for the work, but I was OK with that. As the saying goes, sometimes, you get what you pay for. And electrical work is an area where I wasn't willing to roll the dice on a 'bargain rate' contractor. I was more concerned about receiving sound, quality work. And that's exactly what I got from Mister Sparky. Technician showed up within 20 minutes of calling to verify that I was home/available. I asked them to my home for a simple electrical outlet, $8000. later "work" was complete. 6 weeks later I am fighting with the office to find out about my permit. This company was very pushy in trying to get me to make an appointment. I was calling to see if they could help with replacing a hot water tank which was leaking. I wanted to have an ondemand unit installed a new that I needed electrical work done on top of the old tank being removed. Was trying to find out if I also needed to get a plumber to come out. The person on the phone was more concerned with booking the appointment than trying to give me guidance. She also told me that the estimate was free, but then slipped in at the end that there was a $60 service charge. I then told her I would call back to book an appointment, but she insisted several times to book the appointment now and then I can call in to cancel. As I suspected, I ended up needing to cancel and when I called back to try, I was told by the girl that answered that I had to talk with a different department. Mister Sparky installed a whole house generator for my father at a cost of $10,000. When the generator wouldn't start, he called for service. The battery was dead, and the technician told him it would be a free battery replacement since the generator was fairly new but he did not have a battery with him. They didn't return as promised, and when my father called them out again, he was told the battery would be $504. This was for a simple 12v battery that you can buy at Lowe's for $100. After further discussion with a manager, they agreed to replace the battery at no charge. My 82 year old father then asked the technician from Mr. Sparky to start the generator after the new battery was installed. The technician was unable to start it despite several attempts and told my father there was nothing he could do and he would have to call another company for service. When I went to see what was going on, the technician had the fuel valve closed, so clearly the generator wouldn't start. He was completely clueless. Very Very Disappointing!!! We are in the middle of selling our house and had 2 inspections done by us when we bought the house and one by the previous buyer. All the electric panels passed with flying colors but Mr Sparky advised the two breaker disconnects located on the outside of the home needed to be replaced. These were breakers for the ac units in the house, after a $59 service fee they gave the buyer a $10,000 estimate for $800 worth of parts and maybe $1000 in labor. This company is a joke!!
