If I could go lower than 1 Star I would. Used them about 6 months ago to move a sprinkler box. Showed up, which is a big plus, but pretty expensive. Figured it was the cost of getting someone to keep their word. Hired them for a small job of moving a pool filter just the other day. They called the wrong number and canceled because no one answered. We rescheduled for today. Guess what. Canceled again but this time it was because they didn't have a technician despite it being on the schedule. They refuse to waive the fees to come out after hours and will only reschedule for the following day now. I will never hire this company again. Horrible customer service and no integrity. Damion Jackson was the electrician the Mister Sparky sent after I had made an appointment on a Friday. They were able to send an Mr. Jackson on Tuesday (Monday was a holiday). Damion Jackson was scheduled to come between 8:00 and twelve. He call me around eight thirty and gave me plenty of warning before he showed up, which was very much appreciated. When he arrived I found him to be very friendly and I was able to relax. He went right to work going over what needed to be inspected. Turns out I needed 2 new smoke detectors installed, mine were about 40 years old. He had smoke detectors in the truck and was able to get them installed in a good amount of time. He showed me the wires that were required to be inspected. He made what usually is a very uncomfortable experience for me, to a very pleasant one. It was a very pleasant experience, and if I need an electrician, I will not hesitate to call Mister Sparky and request Damion Jackson. read more

I have been dealing with Mr. Sparky since August trying to get them to file a permit for electrical services that were completed in July 2020. I have previous post, emails, and text trying to get this matter resolved. However, after my first review, someone said they was going to do an investigation; unfortunately, they still would not speak to me and I even put it in the response to that review informing them that no one is returning my calls. On September 14, 2020 they finally submitted the permit and as of today, they have not requested an inspection. I called today and it is the first time someone in charge even spoke with me. Although, he pretended not to know anything about this situation and apologized; however, I feel that isn't enough. Especially, since I have been calling, emailing, as well as, texting Mr. Eddie. Once I submitted my first review and requested a refund according to their customer service satisfaction clause, someone responded that they were going to do an investigation. After a few days of waiting for a phone call from Mr. Sparky, I called back, same thing someone is going to call me back. I then proceeded to respond to the review informing them that no one is responding to me nor returning my call. Now today, I leave work early and arrive at the City only to find out that the permit was submitted on September 14, 2020, which coincides with my review date, unfortunately no one followed up and requested a inspection date. So, here it is almost October, and I call them again and this is the first time I actually spoke with the manager. Unfortunately, all he did was apologize and say that he knew nothing about this matter. I informed him that was impossible because I have proof of when I emailed him, when I texted him, and when they responded to my first review. Then when I started requesting an refund according to there customer service clause at the bottom of my receipt, no one knows anything, totally unacceptable. COVID has been almost unbearable but the blessing in the mist of the storm was COVID prevented my family and I from being without power. Plus COVID, allowed me to get a payment plan, so FPL broke down my outstanding bills over a course of 15 months and added to my current bill which brings me to a total of $550.00 per month which is a huge difference from 1300.00. And all I get is " I am sorry this happened; I knew nothing about this" from the manager. Unbelievable, now he has to call me back. No nothing for the stress, financial impartment, customer care and respect that was never provided to me once I paid for the services. Hell, they did not even mention anything about pleasing nor taking care of their customer, They did not even answer the phone with there motto, "thank you for calling, how can I make you smile today," which influenced my decision to choose them because I definitely had cheaper proposals. Wow, looks like Eric B. has had a similar experience with them, we definitely had the same electrical issue, as well as, the some of the same treatment that we received. At this time, I am not totally convinced that this is not their standard of operations, after reading some other people reviews, without a doubt, customers or last on their list, they do the actual work, collect their fees, and they are done whether the whole process has not been completed or not, you as a customer fall by the wayside, next! Being that this matter has been going on for months due to their negligence, under their Customer Service Clause on their receipt I honestly feel that I deserve a refund, a gift card, a vacation, or something for this injustice that I received. I called on Saturday because i nearly caused a fire in my ceiling when my antique chandelier popped and sparked and then blew the entire fixture out. I spoke to Brittney who was so helpful and nice to me and we scheduled my appointment for Monday morning. She also offered to send a photo of my technician so I would know who was coming to do my repairs.Mr Sparky is certified and in good standing with the BBB so that solidified my choice. Andre is my electrician who is from Trinidad and is such a kind nice person. Andre explained everything he was going to do and also offered a safety check on the entire electrical system which was great. Along with rehanging my new chandelier I had to replace my dimmer switch box which was old and had caused the problem. Andre arrived on time (they gave me a 2 hour window to expect him, he arrived withing 30 min of the time they gave me) and was on the ladder in seconds testing and removing and rewiring my fixture. There was NO up sell which I appreciated and I agreed on the 2 charges (a service charge(which you only get charged the first time you have them to the house . The cost of that is 59.00) and the rewiring and replacing my switch box(that was kinda expensive BUT i had the choice of a plain off and on switch(which was a little more than half the price of the dimmer switch) and decided upon the dimmer like I had originally. It's all about preference and what you are willing to pay I guess.So I agreed to the more expensive of my two options and I am very satisfied and happy with my choice. I like being able to have my chandelier high or really dim depending on whats happening in my home..gotta have "mood lighting"). I was relieved to know I wasn't the cause of the original chandelier blowing up and popping and sparking. It was the switch box and its age that caused my chandelier to fry. I know I could have never determined the cause of the problem and I know I couldn't rewire anything myself because I don't know anything about electricity and would probably fry myself trying but having Mr. Sparky and Andre on my side I felt completely sure and confident I chose the RIGHT company to do the job. Andre did a great job and was a very professional service person. I will be using Mr Sparky again as I have some things that need a certified electrical company and after the quality service I received there isn't any other company I would rely on besides Mr Sparky, Hey Mr Sparky, Andre and Brittney...you light up my life! Despite being pleased in the past, I am left hanging on a holiday weekend with little to no notice because the tech was "pulled in another direction due to a family issue". The only offer made was I could be placed on a standby list for a potential Saturday appointment - no guarantees. I called this company for a quote to install a new telephone jack. They would not quote over the phone so I set up an appointment. After I called, something told me to call back and check to see if the estimate was "free" . Good thing because I was told it would $19.95. So I said I wanted to cancel and the next thing they waived the fee. Okay, so the appointment was for between 10 and 1 PM. I get an early morning call to request an earlier time. Fine. The man who came , Jonathon, was a really nice person. I showed him where I needed the new telephone jack. He then quoted me an absurd charge of $525.00 for the work. I told him at once that I had a much lower quote and was just doing my due diligence in getting 3 quotes to compare. The next thing he did was call his supervisor in front of me and guess what, the new quote was $298.00. At this point I would not have used this company for any reason based on the was they tried to take advantage, even if the second quote was lower than the one received from another reputable company. (which it wasn't - it was still a lot higher!) I'm 75 years old and the guy maybe thought I was dumb and senile. P.S. Just had a great company (Simon Electric LLC) install a new jack and fix a GFI and the charge for the jack was $175 and $50 for GFI. There are some good, honest companies out there. STAY AWAY!!! Complete rip off company. Luckily my technician was so unbelievably rude that I had to ask him to leave my house, so they didn't have the opportunity to rip us off. BUT BOY DID THEY TRY! He came to my home and basically inspected my entire house including my pool equipment without my consent then tried to give me some outrageous quote of $4500 to completely redo all the electrical workings of my house. Funny enough, when I asked about the issues I actually called the company out for, he said "I don't know, you have to agree to the price first". What a joke. And beware, the "diagnostics" price is just for them to even look at what the issue is. Doesn't even include any kind of repairs. On top of all that, the technician got so irritated that we interrupted him to ask a question when he was giving us his quote, he angrily said " can I finish?!" Then TRIED TO HAND HIS TABLET OVER AND SAID "WOULD YOU LIKE TO FINISH FOR ME" what kind of company hires and sends a person out to someone's home like this?!!!? I saw a commercial on TV so thought I'd give them a try. I called & explained I have 2 ceiling fans, the lights work but fans don't. One of the fans I know we tried wiring the fan but couldn't figure it out so we just left the fan disconnected & settled for the lights. I was told they would wave the $59 service fee. Yesterday Joe came out (Really nice guy) he checked 1 ceiling fan he unscrewed the ceiling cover & he said he needed to check to see if the ceiling fan was getting power ? the light was on ! Anyway he never checked anything else & told me both ceiling fans needed motors & not worth fixing. We had purchased a new fan & asked how much to change one of them, he said $189 so we declined. Before he left I asked him to check an outlet for me because it was away from the wall. He removed the extended metal box & it's fine now then he told me our circuit breakers were old. ( I don't believe that) I asked what I owe because the service fee was waved. He told me either I pay the $59 or $90 for travel fee. I chose the $59. This morning I got up & decided to work with the pull chain on the fan he checked- guess what- the fan is working fine. He also left the ceiling cover off & I hope the screws are in there. Now I have to find an electrician to rewire my other fan. I won't be using Mister Sparky in Pompano again. read more

I heard from them saying that they mis-filed the permit and that they were going to reissue the permit and send me the paperwork to fill out, but I have not received it. AWFUL!!!! I called this company because I had three outlets not working- presumed a tripped gfi but I could not find it- maybe a breaker or fuse- no big deal. They sent a guy who they said was licensed and insured which may be the case but arrived at my house in Boca to meet with my husband as I was called out to work. He was polite on phone and when he called to say he was coming I asked if he could fix a face plate on a light switch going into my garage. I Also asked him to give me a price on installing a lite above my island. He told me that he would call me when he got to residence- which never happened. Instead- he met my husband- he did not stay more that 5 minutes- he did not test one thing- he took the panel off and took pictures - spoke like a used car salesman and quoted 14, 000 in one estimate and 11,000 on another. Here's the best- my house wiring was completely redone by reliable electric less than three months ago. I did not call reliable b c I know how back logged they are- thinking this would be simple and boom boom. They either are envious- or have serious issues with my husband- or perhaps just plain don't know what they are doing. The babbling on this estimate is really grounds for a complaint. I would never recommend them. Folks that live in Boca need to be very cautious as this person thought I was a home run. Not happening here pal! I say shame on them- if the city of boca has no issues with how my new wiring was done this guy was clearly not knowing what he was doing. A total waste of my time. I went to Home Advisor to find an electrician..I filled out the form and specifically said NO PHONE CALLS..well within 10 mins I get a call form Mr Sparky...I had considered calling them but wasnt doing anything so quickly...I mentioned how I had said no calls...the man calling glossed over it....said we can come give you an estimate...blah blah...then he siad there was a "special for Home Advisor"..and it would only be $29. Well I need quite a bit done and wanted a quote only..he explained the eelctrician would come and ready to do whatever needed..right then....well I wanted quotes to go through and read what is being not just a small quick job...But I set an appt for this past Thursday..I realized later that I couldnt do it on the Thurs ...so I emailed back from the email confirmation..that I needed to xxl....well..I then get ANOTHER call...I wasnt home form the same guy...well I can waive the fee if thats why your xxling...blah blah...please call me back to discuss...the day before I received an email saying they were coming the next day...I again emailed back DONT COME....thurs morning rolls around I am working and busy..I start getting texts and calls that they were on the way..I think I got 4 texts and 4 calls on Thurs...so my take away..after reading the other reviews..I think this company is set up with telemarketing mentality...charge for everything...don listen to customers requests (dont call me)..and the "special".."I can waive fee"..are all turn offs..most reputable ekectricians will give you an estimate free....so I would avoid this company if I were you. Rip off!! and over priced; Do not trust this company especially as primary source of quote. Obtain 2 others. . i received two separate quotes, 1 for Circuit Breaker and 1 for Transfer Switch. I cannot speak to quality of their work because i knew something was wrong as the Tech / Sales Rep at my home was pushy and adding upgrade suggestions before dealing with Core reason why i called. The end price was literally 2x to 3x total more than competitor. Let me give example, in the Transfer Switch Quote which requires a Permit and updated Fire Detectors in home, (understandable). the Estimator tried to "insist" they must do it and was charging $200 per detector installation up to 6 (so $1200). Any fool can look up part for even the most high tech Smoke Detector is maybe $40 per (avg good one is $25). I don't have to give you a picture of remaining mark up on quotes. Also, THE ESTIMATOR IS A LIAR, THEY MUST WORK ON COMMISSION. The other honest companies advised me since i am obtaining a new Circuit Breaker i dont have to pay for a separate Transfer Switch. some additional minor piping and a separate inlet for the generator is only required which lowered my combined price by $1000s for doing double unnecessary work.. The scheduler called me back within an hour and asked about the job. I told him I was going to upgrade a LED dimmer light switch. I told him I could be available anytime Monday or Tuesday. He said Tuesday 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. would work and we scheduled it. 30 minutes prior to the appointment a lady calls and says I'm sorry there's been an emergency request and we will have to reschedule your appointment. This is NOT an honorable company. I believe I was grossly overcharged by Mr. Sparky of Pompano Beach. I was told that I had to immediately replace the service panel in my condo because a bus bar had melted. I was charged over $4,000 for the job and advised to get a loan from GreenSky through Mr. Sparky. After the job was completed I noticed that smoke detectors were also installed without being advised. I requested an itemized bill and found that I was charged $298 for EACH First Alert smoke detector, which sell anywhere for about $30. I asked several times for a breakdown of parts & labor for the panel, which sells anywhere for about $300, but Rick at Mr. Sparky would not provide it. Probably because I was charged about $3000 for 6 hours work. I requested a partial refund & was offered $200 by Rick which is an insult. I offered to put the issue to rest for a $500 refund, but Rick never responded nor have I received any refund. I will be contacting the BBB and the consumer protection agency for the State of Florida. read more

I went searching around for a good electrician in the area and found SCE, they are honest, hard working, and even better; have an A rating in the BBB.org web site. My family was very happy to hire them to perform a fuse box conversion in our recently purchased home. To say the least, we were not disappointed by the level of knowledge and expertise these gentlemen have. I will certainly hire them again for any A/C, Electrical, and Plumbing repair I may have in the future! SCE is a must when you want a job done by a trust worthy company. read more

I obtained a written estimate. First, the listed of recommended items included to replace a panel; yet the written description of the findings did not mention the panel at all. When questioned, Mr. Sparky management said they would investigate find out why the panel was recommended to be replaced. They never responded, nor replied to subsequent follow-up telephone calls. Second, the price estimates appeared to be triple what I was quoted from other electricians. I did not award the project to this firm, and selected another. read more

I used Mister Sparky after seeing their truck at a neighbor. I called and was told the price for visit was 79$ but there is a discount for first visit of $20 so would be $59. When the techs came to switch out two timers which I supplied, turns out it was $228 instead ! I needed it so did it. One day later, one of the switches did not work. I called, another tech came, criticized the first techs doing wrong job, and fixed it finally. The first techs Josh and another new tech, took the switches that were replaced with them despite me wanting to return them to Home Depot for the $60 refund I could get. Since then I have called 5 times, had to explain the situation 5 times, never got a phone call back from manager, and pretty much told forget. Josh apparently "threw away" the original switches, for no reason (I think he kept them as they worked fine just not the way I wanted them to). I bought a rehabbed house in June, and it passed a very thorough inspection. I asked Mister Sparky to come out because they had done some work for our son about 4 block away, both of our houses in Boynton Beach. They put in 2 ceiling fans and changed the light switches on 3 others, but also said I needed a new outside box. Since I am 70 and not familiar with electrical I thought they would know. $7500 I was charged . I also was told that I probably needed get a new electrical box housed in the garage. I knew this already because of the inspector. I had to wait until I had more money and then had them back out. This time they ONLY charged $5500. Later when we were down in our house for the holidays, Mister Sparky called to say there were questionable items on the permit and it didn't pass city inspection. Meantime I purchased a washer and dryer, but couldn't install because Mister Sparky moved the dryer switch to the opposite wall for the dryer and the outlet for the dryer vent. A friend told me of a licensed electrician and he moved the outlet to the proper place. Mister Sparky did not give me a senior citizen discount or refund of the cost of the outlet until several managers were involved. So far this has taken over 3 months. I finally received the first senior discount and the refund for the outlet. Still waiting for the second refund. Beware of hidden costs and things they want to add to your bill. I had to get my 96 yr old grandma's bathroom light/fan fixed quickly. A Mr. Sparky rep came right out for estimate. He gave me several estimates of items that were not up to code. It was not only VERY EXPENSIVE, but the estimates did not contain details (cost of parts, labor, etc). In my haste, I just asked them to do the initial job of replacing the light/fan. I asked them for a heat light/fan and they charged me extra. I paid in full before they came out. I was very happy with the work that was done except they installed a standard light/fan. I call them to let them know it was ok. I just wanted to know how much they would refund me. I got no response. After a total of 4 messages to the company and 2 messages to the reps cellphone, still no response. Its unfortunate but I had to request a partial dispute through the credit card. Its really a shame because the electrician did a very good job. All in all, I would not recommend this company and I will not use them again. read more

In skilled trades such as electrical work, I have found that you get what you pay for and if you are looking for a professional job done correctly the first time that will pass any municipality's electrical inpection - look no further, Mr Sparky of Pompano Beach will get your job done at a fair price. I have gone cheap in the past and like the old adage says, "the cheap can turn expensive". The last job they did was earlier this week and the certified electrician was Rick C. He rendered the same high standard service as the other electricians. He was proved very knowledgeable and offered creative ideas in designing the lighting plan in my kitchen expansion area and look forward to him coming back for the second phase after the new cabinets are installed. read more
