The customer service was horrible. The food would taste better if it wasn't microwaved. The cook also tried to dictate how I should eat my nachos. I had ordered two nachos. I wanted one with cheese and the other without cheese. The cook / owner said he could not make my nachos without cheese. So he decided to change my order without my permission and instead give me a tostada and have it pass for nachos without cheese and he was trying to charge the same price for the tostada that I paid for the nachos. Then to top it off he had an attitude. He said he could not do nachos without cheese. I thought how hard can it be to just not add cheese to my nachos? Everywhere else you can do that without a problem. Also, please check your bags to make sure you leave with the correct order. If I hadn't checked my bag before leaving I would have gone home without one of my nachos and instead would have had an overpriced tostada and 1 nacho order. There's also a deluxe version if you'd like meat. 2) quesadilla: (I ordered 2): 3/5 --was only trying this for the friends I know who do not eat Mexican but go with the group and order something simple. It's nothing to write home about, & for the same or similar price you can get much more. It is plain however and perfect for the previously mentioned "friends". 3) birrio taco: 3/5 I have been searching for this type of taco and I was excited to finally get to try it! Meat was cooked well and the portion was good--but the flavor wasn't as impressive as TikTok makes it seem AND I was expecting a saucier taco (even a little cup of the sauce to dip it in). Maybe not as expected--but still ok. 4) lengua burrito: 5/5!!!! --The most delicious thing I had gotten!!! And one of my favorite meat options! I was so mad I was testing the menu , because I would've ordered 3 more haha 5) chicken enchilada & bean enchilada: 5/5 -- another home run imo. Taste, size, quality of ingredients--this was a great choice. Home made salsas/sauces: 5/5!!! --If given a cup I would've drank it like juice! A FEW WORDS OF CAUTION!!! 1) CASH ONLY!!! there wasn't a clear sign outside and I missed the sign inside. Luckily, they have an ATM and it's only $2.25 to use. Otherwise I would've been washing dishes for my meal. Lol 2) NO BATHROOM! Use the bathroom before you head there. Food is great, but beware of parking if you're going to pickup food. My car just got booted in the cvs parking lot and I was literally there for five mins. Apparently mister taco claims to have three spots but you have to park in "those spots." There is no visibility of "mister taco parking" in that lot, all those spots were taken if there were spots. There was one other customer ahead of me, and the man refused to unboot me unless I gave $50 cash. Shady. Don't go there unless you have someone with you waiting in the car. read more

Doing some quick reviews of some past restaurants I've visited recently. Mister Taco was a very good representation of authentic Mexican taco culture and cuisine. You can tell that the recipes are homegrown, and they definitely take great pride in the food that they provide. I ordered a large variety of items to sample from their signature tacos, tortas, burritos, and the birria consumme was life changing!!! The staff was hard at work on a busy Sunday early afternoon. They still gave quite friendly service and prepared our meals in a timely fashion. The restaurant was pretty small but packed with patrons, and the cleanliness of the facility was evident throughout. Yeah. You might walk past this place and not think much of it, but let me tell you that this is not a dining experience you should miss. It seems to be family-owned and run, and the service was good and quick. I didn't dine in the restaurant, but we got our spread to go. We got overly excited and pretty much wanted everything on the menu. We shared the bean burrito, a chicken burrito, steak burrito, steak taco, chicken taco and the nachos with jalapeño. Don't come here expecting the bastardized fork and knife necessitating, bursting at the seams burritos we have come to expect when we order burritos at places. No. Here you're going to get the burrito in its pure intended form...a delicious quick meal you can eat with one hand when you're on the go. The nice tradeoff is that you're also not going to pay as much as you would for a huge burrito, and that the burritos here truly are very, very good. We didn't love the chicken burrito. It was fine... absolutely nothing wrong with it, but the steak burrito and the bean burrito really blew us away. And no, there's no rice in the burritos, nor do the meat ones have beans. You're going to get your meat, onions in the steak and bean ones) cilantro and cheese. That's all... no need for filler (don't get me wrong, I also love filler-filled burritos, but this is a special burrito at Mister Taco). The steak taco was our favorite between the steak and chicken. They also add cooked onions to their tacos. Lastly, my jalapeño and bean nacho (the only thing I thought to take a picture of for some reason), which was one hard tortilla cut into quarters, was extremely gratifying and something I could see myself craving often as a snack. The extra nice thing about Mister Taco, it is a no frills restaurant with delicious food and very decent prices. I'm happy that Mister Taco is part of our neighborhood. I was looking for another Mexican joint one day in the area and thank god the yelp directions caused me to get lost. It was then we drove by a small Mexican corner place filled with Mexicans. Mister Taco, where have you been all my life! As a lifelong Westchester resident and long time New Rochelle scouter how am I only finding out about this place now! My husband and I stopped by on the way back from Glen Island and as the reviews said the food is very good and reasonably priced. For the price you can't beat it. All home made as we watched the owner cook. The burritos and taco's were yummy and the rice and beans so good. How can you beat a carne asada filled with beef for $3.00?? The carnitas was moist and delicious. Chorizo was good but I knew I was in trouble as soon as he started cooking it and the fumes traveled through the restaurant even with the door open. Good but too hot for me. The owner was very friendly and gave us mucho sauce. Will be returning today after the beach and trying the enchiladas as well as what we previously ordered. I think the name says it all, pretty bad. My husband picked up some tacos al pastor and they couldn't have been further from the real thing. It was chicken, not pork, not the correct seasonings and where the hell was the pineapple? Also missing the classic toppings you would put on real tacos. They put lettuce and some sort of melty cheese that doesn't go on tacos. So then the lettuce became all soggy and gross., but it shouldn't have been on my taco in the first place. Wow I don't know how it is possible that Mister Taco wasn't already on yelp! Ridiculously cheap tacos, burritos, tostadas, tortas, quesadillas and nachos! They also have a bunch of traditional appetizers, soups and platters. They serve homemade menudo even (on Sundays only). Really close to the Iona college campus but all the Long Island and Westchester kids seem to have a hard time breaking out of their comfort zone so it's never too busy and there is plenty of seating. read more

I ordered two tostadas (chicken and pork), meat was barely there, tostada was soft (it should be crunchy), didn't have cream nor cheese and instead of lettuce they gave me cabbage. It didn't taste bad, but it wasn't good either. So it satisfied my hunger but i'd rather next time pay a couple of bucks more and get a REAL mexican meal. I will never come back again. The nachos with jalapeños are excellent, as is the bistec tacos served in a soft shell. The Bistec Ranch Hero is my all time favorite, and a bargain for only $13. 20yrs ago, it only cost $9. The best bang for the buck anywhere when it comes to real deal authentic Mexican. The place is very simple and nothing has changed in almost 35 years... I hope the place stays here forever... Came across this place serendipitously because we got hungry on the way from Long Island to Massachusetts. It is a very simple mom and pop taco place. We tried pretty much all the burritos (we have been back since) and they were all delicious, without exception. The owners are very nice and cute and friendly. The prices are VERY reasonable. Driving back from the Armory in NYC, and I said I know a few places...... I shoulda kept my mouth shut. Not that the food is bad, its average. You get what you pay for. Average food, microwaved, warmed up, and just enough effort put in to quench your hunger. I ordered the nachos con queso and literally received 4 nacho chips with cheese melted on them that I saw cooked in the microwave. Again, I am hungry at this point, you have me now. Waitstaff is mediocre, seems like a family spot.....everyone is very comfortable kind of yelling across the restaurant with orders or just saying hi, etc. Its all good, but if talking to your friends is your priority, just send someone that is interested in taking orders.
