Dr. Funk provides excellent care to her patients. She dedicates a full hour to your treatment and only sees one patient at a time. This was a nice change from the last place I went where it seemed like the main focus was to process as many patients as possible. I found Dr. Funk after my previous Chiropractor moved to Houston. I travel extensively for work and am usually sitting in front of a computer when not on an airplane. Great Doc! I was referred to Dr. Funk from a biking friend after I spent months dealing with some serious back aches. I went in with some very deep tissue issues as well as general misalignment. I have been to a handful of chiropractors over the years as I have moved and tried to find one that fit here in Austin. In all of those visits, I had never left a first appointment truly feeling better; that is until I met Dr. Funk. I've had really bad migraine headaches that made it impossible to function. In addition to the unbearable pain, i was getting auras and numbness. Ever since I started going to Dr.Funk, not only those symptoms went away, my shoulder pains from stress faded. Unlike a lot of chiropractors out there, Dr. Funk takes time with each patient. You are treated in a private room too which I prefer. It is nice that she responds very quickly to all messages by phone or email. Her adjustments are great and have helped me with some neck pain that I have. I consider myself a very active person but I found myself limiting my activities after I injured my neck around 10 years ago snowboarding. I've been to a few neck and spine specialists but the pain would eventually return. I started going to Dr. Funk approximately 1 year ago and she was very kind, down to earth and genuinely cared about the pain I was feeling and what my end goal was. I had been to several massage therapists over the years to help with pain in my upper back, neck and shoulders related to working on a computer all day, but had never seen any real results other than relaxation. So I decided to try out a chiropractor. I did some research online and found that Dr. Funk had some great reviews and her website gave a lot of information that seemed aimed at people like me. I set up an appointment via her website, which is so great since I'm always multitasking. When I arrived Dr. Funk was very welcoming and friendly. She did an exam and explained everything as she went along. I've seen her twice a week for a couple of months now, and I've never felt better. She is really able to get deep into the soft tissue with the myofascial release work that she does at the beginning of every appointment. Since it can be a bit painful, she's always aware of how much pressure she is applying. She has never caused any kind of long term pain or bruising like I've had from less capable massage therapists doing deep tissue work. She is also very careful and capable when performing the stretching and spinal adjustments. I've never experienced any sprains or strains like I've read about from reviews of some other "chiropractors". As for her personally, I really enjoy the sessions as she is a very intelligent, attractive and upbeat person. She's definitely not the stuffy, impersonal doctor type that sometimes stereotypes chiropractors and medical doctors. She exudes an aura of trust and caring that is very important when it comes to your body. I will miss our discussions and her bright, cheery mood when we are finished. Misty is "the bomb"! She takes care of all your aches & pains ever-so-gently beginning with a upper body massage (including hot towels or ice, whichever is needed) and working out the kinks in your neck, back, arms, etc. Wherever you're ailing she helps relax you BEFORE she gets you on the table to adjust your bones. She is a tiny girl, but she's got some muscles and can do alot more than she looks like! I think incorporating regular Chiropractic care is essential for continued good health. I have lived in a lot of cities over the past 20 plus years and so I've been to a lot of Chiropractors. To date, out of the 30 plus Chiropractors I've seen, only 3 stand out in my mind as memorable, and Dr. Funk is one of them. It is apparent that she genuinely cares about her patients, and that she always has their best interest in her focus during the intense, 1-hour, personalized treatments, she devotes to each of her patients. I feel very valued and cared for as a patient when I see Dr Funk. I don't get the feeling I sometimes get in other clinician's offices where they are already thinking about the next appointment, and pushing me out the door. Also, most Chiropractors I have seen in the past will devote a "very rushed 20 - 30 minutes" to my treatment. In conjunction with her consistent "spot on" spinal manipulations, (and most chiropractors have found me difficult to adjust) she incorporates myofascial release therapy into her treatments which I personally find very beneficial, and a perfect precursor to getting those "spot on" spinal manipulations. I find her very knowledgeable in her field, and she is always willing and very able to answer all of my many questions during my weekly Chiropractic treatments. I started going to Misty when I overdid it raking the leaves in my front yard. My previous chiropractor (who I had been going to for over a year) didn't really listen to me and would crack my back in the same way as he always did then send me for 45 minutes of PT in his exercise room. Misty actually listened to me, and then proceeded to make me feel WONDERFUL for almost an hour. She may be a dainty little creature, but she knows what she's doing when it comes to working your muscles out of whatever knot they have gotten themselves into. I always feel better when I leave her office. She is a joy to talk to while she's working on you too. I can't recommend her enough. An awesome jet ski ride turned bad when I hit a big wave. That wave threw the jet ski up in the air causing my friend (who was riding on back) to slam into the back of me thrusting me into the steering wheel. The wind was knocked out of me at that moment, but for the next week afterward I was unable to turn my torso due to a misplaced rib. After some Physical Therapy and persisting pain, I called Tranquility Chieopractic Sudio. My visit with Dr. Funk was very comfortable. She explained what had happened from the accident and how she was planning to correct the problem. The day after my treatment I was already able to turn my body again, and the pain subsided almost completely. A couple days later I was as good as new. I am so thankful to have found Dr. Funk.
