Mitch did a great job ripping some files onto a USB thumbdrive and Iphone. He responded super quick to my inquiries and within 24 hours we met up at a local bar where he brought all the gear he needed for the job. While files were being transferred, we had some beer, chatted and turns out he's a pretty cool dude, too. He reminds me of one of those CS guys you meet in college who knows like 3 different ways to do whatever tech thing you need. Except then you graduate and you realize you don't know any way to do it. I rarely write reviews ~ happy to share my experience, here, however with Mitch the Geek. After a very, very failed effort to (simply) install an ssd, I finally had to turn for help ~ only to find that there are *Very* few IT pros that handle Windows PCs out here in SF. I stumbled backwards into Mitch looking for Anyone to halllllp. I explained my shituation via text and from the beginning he was respectful of my time, helpful in assessing the situation, and a pleasure to communicate with. The next day he was at my home, and we sat together sussing out my suches. I borked my comp Hella, so it took awhile for us to work back and then through everything, but today I am back up and running, and even better off for it. What a whirlwind of an experience, but I am delighted at the service, patience, and care taken in this effort. Rates were more than reasonable ~ and most importantly, he stuck it out until there was a resolve. Every now and again you find some of the "old magic" left in SF and I can assure you ~ Mitch is That Magic! I am so happy, I'm like a kid wound up in so much emotion I just want to cry. Mitch the Geek is Mitch the Great!!!! My Dell (sucky computers) just died. My computer stopped working and I couldn't solve the issue myself after a few days on the phone with tech support/help from friends. Found Mitch on Yelp and texted him--he responded right away and was able to meet with me same day. This guy is the real deal. Fast efficient and FRIENDLY not something you come across in computer repair too often. Did it all via text and screenshots same day! Very reasonable rates too. Glad I finally found someone I can rely on and trust. As my brother is disabled, he personally went to three different stores to buy the computer part that he needed to update his computer. He clearly has an outstanding knowledge of IT and computers. He has excellent communication skills and continuously texts updates regarding his location and arrival time for our peace of mind. He is prompt and punctual, and works quickly and efficiently to solve the problem. His rates are quite reasonable given his level of expertise and experience. If your computer is causing you any grief, Mitch Harris (aka Mitch the Geek) should be the first person you call. I recently converted from PC to Mac. Mitch helped me figure out what to buy, where to buy it, whether it was better to buy more memory up front or upgrade later, which protection plan he would recommend, etc. After I received my new MacBook Pro, I had a lot of trouble getting my work applications to function properly (as they were not optimized for Mac. I was in an extremely busy period at work, totally frazzled, freaking out, and ready tho throw my new MacBook Pro out the window. Mitch to the Rescue! He helped me devise a solution where I could still run my work apps through Windows and that would allow me to get to know and love my Mac at my own pace, while still being a productive worker. He walked me through my options, asking questions about how I liked to work and what my preferences were. He came up with a fantastic solution and implemented it via remote access to my machine, which was fantastic because it took many hours to install / configure everything. During remote access sessions, he can log into my computer and control my screen. For the time-consuming stuff like downloading files and installing software, he can kick off the process and then we can both go do other things with our time (other than watching the status bar!). For the part that requires my input, I can sit at my computer and watch what he's doing / talk to him through the computer (like a phone!), and work together to configure everything. (He also does in-home appointments for those who are less comfortable with remote access). I am now up & running on my new setup with so much less stress & drama. I have also had a few follow up "calls" where I couldn't figure out how to find or do something. Mitch just logged back into my computer (with my invitation/permission, of course) and showed me how to fix it / navigate the system. That was SO much faster than having to make an appointment in-person! I should probably also mention that Mitch has a very calm and patient demeanor which helps a lot when you are having computer trouble! I would *highly* recommend Mitch for all of your computer issues. He can do anything, on any system. I trust him completely! read more
