Trains are usually right on time here, and there's always parking ($8), expect a short wait to enter and exit the parking lot. You should note that if you're trying to connect to AMTRAK from MKE airport, it's too far to walk with luggage and there's no sidewalk most of the way, you'll need to take a shuttle bus. If you are arriving at the airport and want to get to a downtown hotel, take the 80 bus from just outside baggage claim. For traveling back and forth from Chicago, the Hiawatha is the way to go if the schedule works for you. Parking is a little easier here than downtown Milwaukee.

The pickup point at Mitchell isn't clearly marked. That's a safety risk, especially for panhandling. The fare from Milwaukee to Madison is overpriced with all the stops. If it was direct from Mitchell to Madison without any stops, $23 wouldn't be too bad. With the stops, it should be less. Amtrak for all of its faults is overall a better service. Too bad it doesn't go from Milwaukee to Madison.

Security is good - they regularly round up the homeless who wander through the building. I have never felt threatened or not secure in this building.
