I really believe I am not cut out for flying in today's times. You pay an arm and a leg to get from point A to point B, so that you can deal with traffic, strip down to practically nothing and be molested by TSA, scrutinized about your bag, wait for a never on time plane in a waiting area with limited seating, not enough plugs to charge your phone...All so you can be crammed in like sardines into a flying tin can! WTH are we as consumers thinking, that it's ok for them to continue to shrink the amount of seat space?! I mean seriously you can't even walk into your seat aisle anymore! You gotta hold on to the seat ahead of you while doing a weird side step to get in and out. And if you take the window..you better have a bladder of steel, cuz asking everyone to get up is a chore. And assuming you're on the aisle, you still need to make a mental eye note to surrounding people that you are "next in line" in the line you are not able to form at anytime. And if you did get to the bathroom, god help you. Cuz they've even figured a way to make that smaller! The whole "Fly the Friendly Skies" is so 1950! There's nothing friendly about flying anymore. I made the mistake of flying from Chicago O'Hare to Milwaukee on United. I've never experienced such an old, rickety, malfunctioning plane. They had to jump start the engine before takeoff. Yes, really. And the air circulation system was broken. No air the entire flight. It was utterly miserable, and so unhealthy. With no operational air circulation system, there is no filtering of the air, which means it is a viral superspreader event. It's hard for me to believe that United would authorize a plane to take off with an inoperative air circulation system. I will never fly United from Chicago O'Hare to Milwaukee in the future. read more

Interesting to see all of the low ratings for United here. This review is specifically for my experience with United Airlines AT General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) - NOT experiences with United in general at other Airports. I always check my bag - I'm tired of all of the self important travelers who insist on dragging every piece of junk they own on the plane with them. I can't begin to count the number of times that a flight I was on was delayed leaving the gate due to - to many travelers insisting on attempting to drag all of their suitcases on board - and then the fire drill of having to take their bags to the front of the plane to have them removed and loaded into the cargo hold. So as usual - I checked my bag at the United ticket counter at MKE - using the automated kiosk. I had already checked in for my flight the day before using the United app. I had to wait zero time - as soon as I had completed the kiosk transaction - the United agent was on top of things to verify my identity, tag my bag - and they directed me to the correct Gate area. At the gate area, boarding was no problem. The gate agent was proactive and on top of things. We were flying on a CRJ200 to Chicago O'Hare - a relatively short flight (wheels up to wheels down time = 17 minutes). read more

Yesterday, I had the great misfortune of flying from Toronto to MKE through Newark (I know, I know...). So because two drops of rain fell in NJ, Newark was on a ground stop which is totally not United's fault. That results in flight delays - in this case, not United's fault. Where United failed me is that my inbound plane was coming from Portland (5 hour flight time) - so they strung us along, telling us "your plane is in the air" and then after the flight landed they announced that the crew had timed out and a new crew had to be flown in from Syracuse. That meant instead of getting home at 10:30pm I arrived in to MKE around 2AM!!!! Now, I totally get the whole crew time thing - my gripe is that United KNEW long before that plane arrived that the crew was at their limit and being that Newark is a huge hub for them why didn't they pull one of the local crews? Just plain incompetent in my mind. So why is this a 4-star review? Why would I possibly upgrade an airline that stuck me with a 3.5 hour delay? Well, I woke up this AM to an email from United apologizing for the snafu (this was proactive on their part - I didn't complain to anyone) and offering me extra miles or a travel voucher for the inconvenience. It wasn't a huge gesture but I appreciated an apology and acknowledgement that they'd made my day just a little crappier. That goes a LONG way. Lesson to all businesses out there: never underestimate the power of a simple, proactive apology. read more

We flew United on 2/21 back from Fort Myers, FL. The head Flight Attendant was rude and bossy. She kept playing the mask audio over and over for no reason. We were told we could not get drinks because of Covid and the mask issue, however First Class was able to drink! This is discrimation at best! If you were not able to get a ticket in first class you are less of a person? Rules should be the same for everyone and the Lead Flight Attendant should find a job outside of Customer SERVICE. read more

Flight 4365 to Cleveland from MKE was delayed four times: 1020,1158,1150 then 1130. Hopefully it arrives bc we are still here currently waiting. However, Vanessa the agent only offered food vouchers to one guy = $20. She may have given even a family that left to eat, but for sure a guy next to me because he showed us. Other people walked up to the counter and nothing. WE ARE ALL IN SHOCK THAT NO EMPATHY WAS SHOWN TO US AS WELL. I mean at least a beverage. Six of us are so shocked and disappointed; especially that they (or Vanessa the agent) just gave one (or a couple) person a Voucher. We have been here since 530am. I want a credit or refund regardless if this plane arrives or not. You don't treat customers this way. On a positive note the flight attendant Julie was great, very warming n caring towards us due to our delays . Julie showed us empathy , sympathy and apologized. Well I should say I didn't get that far to actually evaluate how the situation would have went if the guy who was working at the check in counter didn't tell sir hey sir sir sir I can help you over here. Well after the third loud ass call across the kiosks he realized that no I'm not a sir and actually a woman. So i guess that makes me a ma'am. He then proceeds to say something to his co working like oh or oops and yells yet again ma'am! I can help you here! Mind you I'm minding my own damn business at this airport which to me seems like trash (hey I grew up in Milwaukee so don't judge me on this review, I know trash), and here he starts again yelling across the check in kiosks. Mind you I didn't realize he was talking to me this whole time until he realized I wasn't a sir but a ma'am and I said no thanks I got this I'm fine. My flight is delayed but the airline won't say why. Most have missed their connecting flights but when you ask the person behind the desk if there are any other flights available there are eyes rolling and not one person looking at you. Also, no apologies for the delay that the airline caused. There are no weather delays today. So tired of airlines being rude. I have been flying back & forth to my client's offices regularly on United for almost 2 years - same flight, same time, etc. the Milwaukee operations for US have gone from bad - to worse - to simply pathetic over that time. This is a group of horrible communicators who come across as clueless in their work and unconcerned about the impacts or their rag-tag operation. The managers and supervisors are non-existent, certainly never coming out of their offices to help when ticketing gets busy or the gate agents need help rebooking a group after yet another flight cancellations or extreme delay. read more

So I do not like writing negative reviews , but in this case have too. We were one of the thousands of passengers stranded due to United's regional partner Skywest having server issues. Communication to customers was not existent and only a few agents were sympatric , you kept my wife and I at airport until midnight with no reasonable alternative travel. We ended up getting a Delta connecting flight to Minnesota and was promised our bags would make it to Delta and then to MKE. Of course the bags could not be found, so we went to the united counter and we ran into Audrey one of the rudest agents I have ever encountered in my life. Even though United was the cause of us ending up on Delta and never delivered bags to Delta she told me to go back to Delta and file the claim there if we didn't fly united all the way through keep in mind we didn't have a choice and Delta never had custody of bags. No kindness , no sympathy just disrespectful and beyond rude and for that I will never return to United. read more

Bad customer service at the ticket check in counter. Black customer service ticket agent for united airline just stood there as if she was high. When we checked in, we didn't get our seats. We asked for our seats assigned and she said other agents can do it at the gate. When asked why she can do it now she just stood there trying to ignore us. I asked what her name was and her respond..."I have no name." During this time there are people behind us and other agents are huddled ignoring customers and talking to themselves. read more

Had a 3:30 flight that got pushed back until5:30, and than 6:10, and than cancelled. This was only our first part of the flight, and we had to make a connecting flight in O'Hare. So we than had to be put in a bus to be driven another hour and 15 minites to O'Hare, so that we could try to make our connecting flights. read more

I started out today 8/16 in Fort Myers, Florida on United flight 2003. We left Fort Myers about 4:55 headed to Chicago O'Hare. We flew around O'Hare and told airport was shut down and people on plane including me had drivers parked in the cell lot watching planes take off and land. We were diverted to Milwaukee and have been sitting here at Mitchell Field waiting for fuel. We have been waiting 2 hours and still no fuel. Plane is warm and people irritated. DO NOT FLY UNITED! YOU WILL NOT GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! United Airlines changed my flight and will not issue a refund for the difference in price. They sent me two confirmations on the 24th for two different flights. The first confirmation was what I paid for, the second was for a connecting flight that I looked at online when I was booking and it was aprox $300 cheaper than the one I paid for. Upon arrival to the airport I was told the flight I booked was full and they were sending me to Chicago but that flight was delayed because the crew was not all there. This event occurred on 3/25 and I have yet to obtain the refund or even talk to someone who will help. I have called 5 times, told that my request was being processed and it should take 14 days. After my 5th call today I was told there is no information on this ticket and to fill out a refund request online. You can imagine my distrust and exhaustion in obtaining something so simple. I paid for a product I did not receive. I am owed a difference in flight costs and United has only offered two $10 meal coupons to compensate me for the changes. These changes and delays were on United, they were not due to mechanical issues nor where they an act of god. Do not fly United, you will not get what you pay for!!!! read more

I would like to command MKE airport ticket agent, Jamal, for his excellent service this morning! I am traveling with my 88 yr old mother; destination, KOA. Airport to airport, it will take us 19-20 hrs to our destination. He made sure to give me copies of the special services cards so that I can give to the flight attendants before we land on everyone leg so that I am assured that we will be assisted as needed. This has been the best experiace so far I have ever had on UAL flights. I hope we have excellent service from the flight attendants as well. Thanks Jamal, mahalo and aloha! read more

United airline told us our flight would be delayed for one hour. Proceeded to tell us we would make our connecting flight. When the flight was not showing up people started to ask. Turns out the lady misunderstood and misread. Flight ended up being three hours delayed. We missed our flight- every person missed their flight. We were planning on getting in our car and driving an hour and 15 mins to Chicago so we could make our flight- instead we were reassured. The flight continued to get later and later. We got a new flight for the morning with no cost, but they won't pay for our hotel room because they said it was "air traffic control". One of the other customers called and it had nothing to do with the weather. They were low staff. There were no supervisor. Not a single person what's going on. Now sitting in an airport for hour on hours is going to cost us $700 and not even a tester aunt is open at 7pm at night . I will never ever fly united again. read more

If I could give this airline no stars or less than that it still wouldn't describe how horrible it is. I fly into Chicago with my family on a cramped and late flight then when it's time to return I try to check in and the airline will not let me do so. I call customer service and after an hour and a half wait i am able to ask why this is. I'm told that I lost my ticket because I never got onto my first flight. I DID. After I argue with them I'm told I can try to board using my first boarding pass or buy another seat for an extra 300. Even though I already paid 300 for my flight they cancelled on me. I ask to speak to a supervisor and the customer service rep hangs up on me. Worst company ever. Never use this airline. read more
