Barb needed a thorough eye exam because of the damage plaquenil can cause on the eyes especially blindness. Dr. Bellotte had an amazing amount of positive reviews online. We were very impressed with the waiting area and the well organized check-in process. When Barb was called into the exam process, she underwent a variety of tests on a wide variety of eye testing hardware. The team member, Meghan, was very caring and explained each test to us. We understood what was being collected and why. We appreciated what we learned vs being kept in the dark and uninformed which has been my experience with most medical testing. Barb's eye pressures were tested a couple of times. When Dr. Bellotte can into the exam room, we found out why. Dr. Bellotte was very thorough going over all the tests and providing results in non technical human language. His team found that Barb's eye pressures are very high. Barb is sufferring from glaucoma which could lead to a loss of her eye sight if not treated. We also learned that we should inform our children because this condition could be passed on to them. Another thing that our kids can complain about when they are angry with us. Dr. Bellotte's genuine concern for Barb's condition was very appreciated. We felt very comforted by his manner. I could see that Dr. Bellotte put Barb at ease as he explained how he could make things better for her eyesight. Dr. Bellotte explained that he could provide treatment in his office with an eye 'degunking" laser. It would be several treatments but her eye pressures would be in normal ranges. Barb also was provided a treatment plan for helping her overcome dry eye issues. Thanks to Dr Bellotte and his team for helping Barb avoid a loss of her eyesight. I definitely learned today how precious eyesight is and how you can lose it by not having the right care. I highly recommend Dr. Bellotte and his team!

I was looking for a top rated ophthalmologist to perform my Cataract Surgery here in Boca Raton. I…read morefound Dr. Bellotte as the highest and most rated ophthalmologist in Boca Raton on both Google and Yelp and decided to look into it. After visiting his website and reading all his achievements, I was very impressed and decided to give his West Boca Eye Center a call. They immediately scheduled me to see him and I was happy with his immediate availability. While visiting his office, I was impressed by the well designed office, the ample size of the office as well as the amount of friendly and knowledgeable staff. When I finally met Dr. Bellotte, he was very friendly with lots of expertise. He didn't push me into any particular lens or operating procedure but simply gave me options and prices accordingly for me to decide. After choosing the best lens and procedure available, with lots of pay options to choose from (went with the Care Credit Card), I booked the operation a week later and put it on the card. When it came to the operation itself, it went very smoothly, about 30mins to fill out forms, 10-15 mins for eye drops and ivy fluids, about 10-15mins for the entire operation, and then an hour or so for recovery before pickup to go home. Initial recovery after the operation was literally 24 hours, with better eye sight right away and full recovery about a week later. Each day after the operation, my eye sight would improve, and at follow up the center said no complications were present. I of course expected the best of recovery since Dr. Bellotte has been awarded a 99% safety award with his procedures. I ended up doing both eyes, and now I'm at 20/20 vision at my senior age and no need to wear glasses for both close up or distance vision, after decades of wearing glasses. I can't thank Dr. Bellotte enough for my new eyes and am recommending my son to do his Laser Vitreolysis (Laser Floater Removal) with Dr. Bellotte as well. In conclusion, after reading all the 5-star reviews, I now find myself writing one as well and it's well deserved. A+ for Dr. Bellotte and his staff from a very grateful and satisfied patient.

I scheduled a 12:30pm appointment so that I could be done and back to work by 2 PM. I arrived at 12:15 PM and I waited 30 minutes before asking how long how much longer the wait would be. When I asked, she told me I would be up next. After that, they called two or three other patients before me. After awaiting almost an hour I asked again how long the wait time would be. She again said I would be called next. I continue to wait. I waited over an hour and was never seen by the doctor. I was told there would be no way for me to be finished with my appointment by 2 PM. I had to cancel the appointment after waiting there for over an hour. It was a total waste of time. The doctors don't care how long the patients wait. I guess they think their time is more valuable than everyone else in this world. Aside from the awful experience with waiting, I have not been impressed with their ability to diagnose and/or treat the eye condition that I have. Save yourself time and money and go somewhere else.

Before even scheduling the appointment, I had both the receptionist and my insurance confirm he was in network.... fast forward to after the appointment and bill received .... he was only covered under medical, not vision ... I did NOT need to complete another annual eye exam (vision) for my son since that is NOT what I was there for... in addition, he had an eye exam a few months back. Since Dr. F did not see anything medically wrong, he continued to do an eye exam, which I should've stopped him there since that's not what I was there for but this being my first child and trusting a Dr to make a right call, I proceeded and allowed. I ended up getting a quite expensive bill for what was told was covered but come to find out, it was not since he was only covered under my medical plan and not vision plan. What really fired me up was that The billing person told me that the office had to charge for something for the visit and since no medical issue was found/diagnosed he continued with the vision exam - sounds like a lot of doctors do this just to bill insurance ... and not caring if you're in networks for something or not. This was dragged on for I feel like almost 9-12mo between going back and forth with my insurance and his office. Moral of the story, make sure YOU check medical and vision when you call any eye Dr office and get the persons name/date/call between you and the insurance and also the practice. I had no clue that they were even separate. People just do the bare minimum and unfortunately just say yes to book you and not actually review what each patient plan is. Long story short is that they had discounted my bill by like $40 if I paid in full amount. It's just really frustrating and disappointing. And I had to bring my son to another eye Dr (which there are very few for toddlers) that was able to diagnose his eye condition - so yes, he did have a MEDICAL eye condition that 2 other doctor's just didn't "see" and had to go through an experience that could've been handled differently.

I've gone to this practice since 2010. All my providers there have been nothing but amazing. I…read morewrote a previous yelp review and gave the practice five stars. However, they have been under new management for a couple of months. All the previous providers have left the practice. I was never notified that my provider left the practice. In fact, photographs of my former provider and others are still on the webpage, so how was I to know they left? I never received a phone call or a letter in the mail. I found out about this recently when my insurance request requested a prior authorization. I went to their new website, and my provider wasn't listed. So I called to ask about this. The first time I called and the phone rang forever with no one picking up the phone. When I was finally able to get through, a young lady answered the phone. I told her about my situation with the prior authorization and she told me that my provider was no longer there. I was told that I had to come in and see a new provider and when I asked why , I was told have a nice day and then hung up on. I wasn't rude; I just had questions, like who my new provider is and why they need me to come in, since I just had an exam two months earlier. And I don't know why, but they called me back 10 minutes later and said they suddenly had an appointment for me the next morning. So I came in to see what was going on. My new provider was very young and I'm not sure how much experience they had. While they were nice, she informed me of the new policies. For example, they began charging for blood draws in the office that had previously been free. It was $35, and now it's down to $15; otherwise, I have to go to another location to have my blood drawn. They put an order for me to have my blood work drawn, even though I just had it drawn 6 to 8 weeks. I asked for a prior authorization which I was told they would do, but after two weeks, I went to my pharmacy and they said they never received one. The front desk used to be helpful, but recently when I went in, everybody was sitting around in a circle talking to each other, pretty much ignoring that I was there. This used to be a very warm, friendly practice that put the patient's needs first. Now, it seems this new management is very business-oriented, looking for ways to make more money at the expense of providing good customer service and focusing on my healthcare needs. I am now leaving this practice, which makes me sad. I feel very sorry for older people who go there. They probably don't know who their provider is anymore and will have to start over with a new provider from the beginning. It's hard to find a good medical practice for your routine healthcare these days, especially in Boca Raton, where everybody is moving towards concierge service. I wouldn't be surprised if this place goes out of business in the next year.
