Arrived on August 8th and the temperature outside was 91F,we found out that the place has no air condition, and the room was like an oven with a hair dryer running. Absolutely torture for 12 hours, cooling off little after midnight. This resort should be closed in the summer , it is not a 4 season resort! If you arrive before 4PM checkin time, you will have to wait in your car , the lobby front entrance is locked! Not the hospitality standard at RCI Resorts. read more

The staff is so nice! Called to check if we were ok and if we needed anything. Had a nice laugh with them when checking in. Very peaceful. The resort may be dated but it's very clean. The history is very interesting. We will stay here again if we get the chance. The pool and hot tub were inviting. read more

My sister just got back from Mittersill after using my unit for a vacation with her son and best friend. This is a red week, week 26. She called me today to tell me they stayed 2 days and left. The pool was closed, the pub was closed, the bathroom tiles were cracked, the kitchen did not include coffee (which I specifically called about beforehand), the hotel was barren, the bed and the sleep sofa were old and uncomfortable, the fan in the living room did not rotate the air for the sleeper on the sofa bed, the weather was 90 degrees and with no AC they could not sleep. The indoor pool / jacuzzi area had no chaise lounges!!! Just benches to sit on!!! The bathroom was stifling. I am shocked and embarrassed by my sisters comments. I will definitely take this up with the Mittersill Board. read more

I've been a timeshare owner at Mittersill for 20+ years. To love this place is to understand its history - it was "the" place to go in the Franconia area during Hollywood's heyday - Queen Elizabeth, Bette Davis, Lucille Ball were some of the personalities who frequented the resort for their winter skiing. Has the resort seen better days? Sure! Does the staff do amazing things with the resources they have available to them? Absolutely! Would I recommend anyone looking to stay or purchase a timeshare in the White Mountains to put Mittersill on their list? You bet - this gem is a bargain when a comparison is done against other area timeshares. The staff is consistently stellar in their customer service skills. Granted, if you were to visit year after year as I do, you get to know the staff and that makes things a little easier - I have observed the staff going out of their way to act as concierge for guests, and offering suggestions for activities and dining locations. Between you and me, I'm not an easy person to please - I like things to be as they should be. When I check into my condo, if I see something is broken or missing, I contact the front desk immediately and they ensure the issue is taken care of. I'm very sorry for those of you who feel you have had service issues in the past - I don't know what to tell you. I've never had a bad experience in the many years I've owned at Mittersill. read more

5/5 resort. People complain about the staff/management, but I've been coming here for 17 years with all of my family and they have been nothing but accommodating. They have given us extra rooms days before our stay without question, they have let my family party in any area in the resort through the late night, and we have formed bonds with multiple members of the staff. The resort has everything that you could ask for, and more. The only gripe I have would be, and this probably applies to less than 1% of people that stay there, is that there is hardly anywhere to go out for a run unless you drive to trails or the local track. The yard is awesome with many amenities, and I am very excited to come back here in a few days. read more

CLOSE this place if you don't want customers. I'd highly discourage this place unless it changes hands. Went by today to check it out, set one foot in the door and a grumpy woman kicked us out. We were looking to plan a large group getaway and check the place out and she told us, "you can't be here! You're on security camera, you have to leave." I asked what the problem was and tried to explain that it's a public place and we wanted information on staying there. She pointed us to the front desk and the young woman didn't even look up from her phone. We turned around to leave after being ignored, and the same grumpy woman was waiting to make sure we left. I'm a current owner and can't GIVE my timeshare away; the resort won't take it back (for free!) for them to sell, and that tells you everything you need to know about their inability to attract people. We don't even go anymore because we can't take our dog; also, we own a week in early summer and this place is in the middle of nowhere -- great if that's what you want, but we find it really boring. Stuck in the past... but not far enough when it used to be a skiers heaven... Do not tell these people you are a skier, they will treat you like sh!@... I know several skiers that have actually been kicked out of their "bar" for literally NOTHING and were told we don't want your "sort" around here... We got kicked out once because our kids only had $4 instead of $5 to rent ping pong paddles... This location is NOT handicap accessible. There is a ramp leading up to the entry and there are small (very) elevators. There is no way for a seated person to gain entry to the lobby from outside unless the doors have been propped open. The advertised spa (indoor pool, hot tubs, sauna) can not be accessed by non-mobile guests. There is no elevator that brings you to that level. My lodging for the week was clean and pleasant, but we will not be returning. read more

We have been timeshare owners at Mittersill for over 25 years, and still love going. Although the facility is older, it has a certain charm and most of the staff goes above and beyond to be helpful and friendly. Units are being renovated a few at a time in a scheduled plan. Our unit has always been clean and maintenance is very quick to respond to any issues. Mittersill is in a beautiful location with lots of trails and outdoor activities in the area. It's a short walk down the road to see gorgeous sunsets (we fondly call "Mittersets". Organized activites at the resort were suspended years ago in part because people are often away during the day enjoying the surrounding attractions and are tired when they return in the evening. Groups tend to gather together and create their own fun activities and events. We've never had staff discourage gatherings for games or socializing as long as it doesn't interfere with other guests. read more

We just left after staying here for a week on an RCI timeshare exchange because the resort we usually go to 30 minutes away was booked. We were pretty disappointed in general. This hotel is extremely dated and offers just the basic creature comforts. Although unusual for the mountains in NH, the temps were in the 90s most of the week. We would routinely leave our room in the morning to explore the mountains and come back after 9pm. Our unit was unbearably warm and stuffy and the rug was moist from the humidity - all because they don't have air conditioning. The screen to our deck was broken so we couldn't even leave it open to get fresh air. We made repeated calls to the front desk to have it fixed to no avail. Needless to say, we slept horribly. With regards to creature comforts, the unit's bedding looked 30 years old (we brought our own anyways), there was no sponge to wash dishes (we went out and bought one), the towels were thin and rough, and the TVs were a joke. The one in the bedroom was at least 20 years old. The internet is sufficient to check social media but streaming was impossible. The shower was barely functioning with the shower head at 4 ft. I've read the reviews about the staff and am not surprised. We were there during Covid so actually saw no one except at check in and check out and the maintenance guy once. That being said, we were shocked to get a phone call at 9 am on check out day to remind us checkout was promptly at 10 (we knew that as we can in fact read and it was highlighted in the literature provided) and that we would be charged if late. Consequently, there was a mad rush of families trying to get on and off the tiny elevators with their luggage and their kids so as to make the 10an deadline because God forbid they dared be a few minutes after 10am and be charged "up to $300." Clearly this rude front desk lady called all the guests leaving. On the upside, the location is gorgeous and the views stunning. It's close to many local attractions and activities as well as the highway. And frankly, if the owners would invest in the property by updating/upgrading the furniture and bedding and putting in AC (!!!), as well as replacing and training the staff in basic hospitality and manners, it could be a destination resort versus a poor substitute. read more

Mittersill is a slice of life. Lots of history. Old school. Remodeling underway which is great. Suites are much improved in the remodeled rooms. Be sure to ask about the unit you are being booked into. The amenities however need work. The hot tub is disgusting. Baron's Pub is not open even when they say it is supposed to be open. The pool table is locked inside. We like quiet but its so quiet it would really be nice if there was just a little something to do for an hour or so at night. read more

We were treated very disrespectfully by a night manager and maintenance worker when the children with us asked to use the ping pong table. They were denied because they were not "guests". When we questioned the decision, we were told to leave even though we had just ordered food. They threaten us with, "The Franconia police are outside", making one of the children with us cry. (The police were there for a car accident). Guess their sign that states,"Public Welcome" is false advertising. read more

This is not a friendly place. This is not a place to take your kids, family, or spend your money. This resort literally has nothing, and I mean nothing, to do except to play pool (that is of management will open it for you) and swim. The office staff is bitter and act as if they have been working the night shift for the last 30 years and have no idea as to how to treat a paying customer, or even respond to a basic question. We were nervous about booking a week here based on reviews but the location was perfect, so we took a chance. Our room was clean and had several fans (this resort doesn't have air conditioning). We didn't have an issue with this because we kept the windows opened and enjoyed the fresh mountain air. Our children (10 and 12) enjoyed the games room and we all enjoyed the outdoor pool. The people we met were friendly and the location was close to everything we had planned for the week. 30 mins from Santa's Village, 15 mins from Littleton (Chutters Candy store and Schilling brewpub), and a stone's throw from Franconia National Park where you can hike, swim and take beautiful pictures. We will be returning to this resort for many more vacations! read more

This place is run by the mean old lady that would keep all the neighborhood kid's balls that landed in her yard. She is clueless and rude. I witnessed her kick 2 women out of the lobby for simply admiring old pictures of Lucille Ball and other famous guests of yesteryear. "We don't want your kind here". WTF is that? "You're on camera, you need to leave". She has told people heading to the hotel pub that it is only open for hotel guests. On which planet is a hotel bar open only to hotel guests? Timeshare holders, according to the sales agreement have "day use privileges " to use the pool & hot tub, workout room, etc year round. She told a shareholder that the sun has set. It's no longer day time. "You cannot use the pool, we're too busy" is another go-to phrase. She usually says that when there's 3 cars I in the lot. Timeshares in general are a joke. If you bought a timeshare to this dump, try your best to get out of it. read more

I stayed at the "resort "with 3 friends(all of us over 50 ) in early November. We had booked as an exchange through RCI timeshare, so only had to split the $238 fee..Thus my 2 star rating! When two of us arrived to check-in, the owner of the timeshare week hadn't gotten there yet, so we waited in the lobby. I felt like we would see Jack Nicholson saying "Heere's Johnny" at any minute...Fireplace had a sign that said it was inoperable, with caution tape across the opening.There were some charming black and white framed photos of the Baron who had built original resort. Apparently it was very different..patrons such as Lucille Ball, Queen Elizabeth, and Jean Claude Killy spent time here.Upon arrival of our RCI owner, we visited front desk to check in. Woman who manned front desk was rude and condescending. We had booked a one bedroomand asked if resort was full. We thought we could upgrade(Pay a fee) to a 2 bedroom. Woman said Inn not full, but we couldn't change to a 2 bedroom because we booked through RCI. There were 6 vars in the parking lot( 3 of them belonged to us.) She had a really rude tone, and rolled her eyes at each question we asked. She then said that only 1 car could be parked in guest lot; the 3 others had to park around back, since we weren't "guests". I could understand this if the lot was small and limited size...and we were guests I think...I felt like we were being scolded each time we asked a question. Even the young woman who was obviously not in charge seemed embarrassed by the check-in lady's attitude..The room itself was at least very clean, but dated. we were ok with that. Then we went to the pub...advertised as open from 5-12 on Fridays... We were looking forward to a glass or 2 of wine and a light dinner, since resort advertised that pub has "freshly prepared hot bowl of soup, refreshing salad, and specialty sandwiches," We knew it was not a full service restaurant, and were looking forward to a relaxing night at the pub. Experience was similar to Jack Nicholson's toast order in Five Easy Pieces..Could have a BLT without bacon, a meatball sub without meatballs, an Arnold Palmer without lemonade, etc. Luckily, they had chardonnay. The bartender was wonderful and apologetic. We left her a big tip. This resort could be outstanding if front desk/management step up their game. Be nice...it works. read more

Great if you are looking for simple, relaxing, nice getaways! Nothing fancy, except the views!! Absolutely beautiful view. We go yearly...Kids love the pool, hot tubs and ping pong. The Chalet is great for the home, space and fireplace. Pubs not open to often but never had issues. read more

We won a free 2-night stay at the Mittersill via the Boston Ski & Sports expo, therefore our review is thoroughly unbiased (and we took plenty of photos - and photos never lie, right?). We stayed at the resort for 2 nights in July of 2018 with our family of 4 - 2 adults, 2 elementary aged kids. Walking in, we immediately noted the "NO NO!" signs (see photo). We said hello to the front desk lady and were completely ignored. It was a solid minute before she looked up and noted our presence. Things went downhill from there. Another family came in and told us they had just been "kicked out of the resort" by this person.... I could go on and on. Instead, I'll keep it brief and highlight the obvious. Bathroom sink didn't drain. Ceiling tiles flew off every time the window was opened. Sink sponge walked away on its own. Shower left much to be desired and had two temps - boiling or freezing. Fold out couch should have been replaced in the 80's. Coffee pot was broken. Decks aren't aligned with rooms, allowing for neighbor's deck to situate outside YOUR bedroom window (creepy!!!). Much of the "resort" was broken or mishandled (see photos). Not sure what the going rate per night is, but compared to other inns and motels / hotels in the 20 min area, I would pay about $70/night to stay here. Set your expectations very low, and you should be satisfied. read more

The only reason why this place is fun is because our family stays here for week 7. The staff is literally the most un-hospitable staff ever. The lady who runs the place seems like she is sabotaging it on purpose. One of the ladies at the desk is abrasive and rude. I asked for extra trash bags and she was mad about it. I left brand new baby clothes in our room last year, they charged me 10 dollars to send them and I never got them. They don't sell real alcohol at the bar only very low alcohol content. And the care taker who seems drunk walks around constantly scrutinizing everyone. He actually got in a fight with a guest in the parking lot last night. 600 dollars a week for a time share where you feel like a nuisance, yay! And one last thing my husband sent in the money this year and when he called she said we didn't have a room because we didn't say we were coming. This place is a joke. Every year its the same. Things are broken in every rooms. When we first started coming here it was great. Things to do all day. More family friendly. Then every year something else would be gone. I could tell story after story, but I dont have time to write a book. So sad. The front desk for years has been THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! Most of them should get other jobs. Finally this year they have someone that knows good customer service. Rebecca she was very nice when we checked in. It was such a nice surprise. She was wonderful, even when my kids went to the desk to use the ping pong paddles she was very frriendly. Usuaslly they are afraid, because the front desk peolpe either pretend not to see them or are very rude. Rebecca should be made the manager here. The management is the worse! We know maintance does the best they can. It is more like a motel than a resort. No AC so make sure you bring 20 fans. The only thing that is great here is the location. That about it. Its really to bad because with such a great location this place could be a wonderful resort. Only if the management would change. Dont ever buy a timeshare here because you will be trapped. If you are a timeshare owner they treat you even worse. No one will want to buy this from you with how high the maintance fees are. You can go down the street and book a room at a nice place and be treated like they want my business for just a few bucks more. This year went better than others until 9:58 on the day we were checking out. We were walking out the door and the wonderful front desk people called to let us know we would be charged 75.00 extra for every 15 minutes we were in the room. Really!!! We were already leaving and thought wow finally maybe an okay year. Not! On friday we arrived at 4:40 and did not get into our room until 6:00, maybe we could have charge them for loss of vacation time. It was nice to see them following guidelines for covid and we did not complain. Again not managed correctly, they should have had 2 check in stations setup to make things go quickly for guests. They know that friday is a busy checkin day. This place is crazy and they dont value the owners at all. They might want to invest in a weed wacker. It is a junlge around the outdoor pool. read more

This place is not worth your time. Stay somewhere else, the room was very poor and had a smell to it. As well as some of the features in the room were not working properly, for example the light in the bedroom and a window was broken as well. The towels and bedding were very worn and the rest of the unit was outdated. The WiFi situation was poor, you have a certain amount of devices allowed and there is restricted access. If you want to access google docs or Netflix you will need to use your data. Overall this resort is not that enjoyable, the skiing is great at Cannon could not complain. One can concur that a Mariot or other resort would be much more enjoyable. read more

This place is a pit. We stayed in a chalet for 8 people it looked like the set of the movie Misery. 2 crappy tvs for 8 people. No housekeeping unless you pay for it lousy linens on the beds. You have to pay for extra toilet paper. Just an awful place NOTHING for kids to do. Do Not stay here. Ruined my vacation could not wait to get home. Truly awful. read more

I have to reiterate everything everyone else has said. The front desk is beyond rude and obnoxious. She was so combative with my wife during check-in that we were prepared to drive the 4.5 hrs back home. I made a second attempt to check in because my 2 daughters were so disappointed. The woman began to bad mouth my wife to me as I attempted to check in. I tried to be a peaceful as possible and explain to her that I will not tolerate her speaking about my wife in such a manner again and that this is why the resort had such poor reviews. Her response was to give me the keys and say no the reason they have bad reviews is because of customers like us. (Very strange thinking that all the customers are wrong but she us right) We needed a drink at this point and went to the bar. The menu actually had a note on the bottom that says meat is frozen and fully cooked prior to being prepared. So much for fresh food I guess. ( Another odd choice to advertise your poor quality) The final straw was at 1030 at night when the kids were asleep the maintenance man knocked on the door because he accused us of having too many people in the room. When I told him we didn't he said he didn't believe me and accused me of hiding people behind the wall. I told him to come in and check for himself. He came in looked around and then said well you know your only allowed 4 people in the room. I said count with me 1 2 3 4 and he stormed off, it was as if he was disappointed he didn't catch us breaking the rules. The biggest shame of all is with the smallest amount of care and effort this place could be a gem. read more

I want to start off by saying that most of the employees @ Mittersill Alpine Resort have been excellent over the years of going (Bought in as a member in the mid 80s). My interaction with one particular employee on April 20th 2016 was less than pleasant. My wife & I love to pedal the bike paths in & around that area & have for several years with no issues. We both own relatively expensive mountain bikes & have kept them in the room we stay in for the week. Today we got a phone call from Peggy at the front office saying we cannot have pedal bikes in our room, which I must have overlooked when I read through the "Rules & Regulations" part of the booklet we get in our room at the time of check-in. I reviewed the booklet & nowhere in it does it say that pedal bikes are not allowed in the room, so I went to the front desk & confronted Peggy about this matter. She could not show me anywhere in writing that bikes are not allowed in the room & on top of that she said they are not allowed in the building. We pay $900 a week for a maintenance fee & couldn't even been given the courtesy of "We are sorry, it's s new rule & the booklets have yet to be updated". This is a simple customer relations interaction that she failed to navigate. I don't want to see anybody loose their job, but she should not be in that position. read more
